>>
In case you're too lazy to read the text in the gold box, this is one of those special mounts which enables you to use both the auction house and mailbox anywhere you can mount up. It's expensive because it gives you a lot of utility.
>>
>>692797578
There's been a portable mailbox since at least Wrath. I haven't played in 6 or 7 xpacs but I know without looking it up that you can get a portable auction house some other way. Those things also aren't really helpful in any way in modern wow.
>>
>>692788956
Honestly it's reasonably priced. When you consider Blizzard only charges $50 per expansion when it takes hundreds of people years of work to make. Why shouldn't I be allowed to support developers who have given me endless fun for the last 20 years?
>>
>>692797831

it's reasonably priced for no other reason than the only people still playing wow are retards that will buy literally anything

I absolutely do not understand why anyone pays for cosmetics in a Blizzard game. I have no idea what my Diablo 4 Barb's armor looks like right now. I can't remember. I have literally never looked at another player's costume or mount. They're just blurs that rush by in a haze of particles and I never see them again.

Same revelation stopped me from farming COD skins. I realized that I never once looked at another player's gun.

Everyone who buys a store mount, toy, transmog, etc should be put onto their own shard. The only other people they can see are other microtransaction users unless invited off said shard for group content.
It would take less than an hour before you had riots about being "segregated" and their little "hurr durr poorfag" song and dance was nowhere to be found.
You'd have custom groups in the finder begging to be invited off of the richfag store mount shard.

Of all shitty decisions the WoW team has mad over the years, timegating was the one that managed to permanently stop me from playing. It's the most overt way of saying "you're having too much fun, we want you to pay us a sub for longer so your fun limit for the week has been reached"

ik what you mean, but it also has to do sometimes with there being nothing to "save" towards, if that makes any sense

since money is acquired at such a slow rate, and big items are so costly (houses, even fucking used cars at this point) people spend more freely on random purchases, as they feel they can't actually save enough, so there's no point

its dumb, but it is a thing

Sub MMOs are the worst live service system in gaming now. You need to buy an expansion for $50, pay a $15 sub to even access the expansion you just bought, and continue paying that every month or you can't play the product you purchased. All for a shitty leveling experience and repeating the same content for 4+ months between patches.

Subscription fees are the best monetization method for the consumer.
$15 a month and you get all content, with more added over time.
Simple and fair.
All that extra shit is just companies going "Let's try putting a price tag on something that we'd normally do for free." and then idiots paying for it because they can, and don't care whether or not they should.
Now they know they can just put a price tag on whatever they feel like and make tons of extra money for zero extra effort.

WoW is honestly the best encapsulation of what happened to the video game industry over the past 20 years. It starts out phenomenal, a game you can truly ruin your life with because it's that fucking good and you want to be playing it all day and night. It stays that way through TBC, which has a metric fuck ton of content right from the start of the expansion. Then Blizzard gets bought out, suddenly the next expansion has a rerun raid for the first tier, then they start dumbing it down for casual appeal while also adding more lazy raids(Onyxia 2.0, Trial of the Crusader, Ruby Sanctum). They start removing the amount of time players are required to play the game and how often you need to group, everything slowly moves towards being soloable. Gone are the days of getting your raid to help you get your Thunderfury, gone are the days of even needing friends to queue for dungeons, and they added the $25 horse - the first account wide mount that could save you a lot of in game gold when it mattered more.

From there, it's just downhill with the casualizing of the game, eventually most of your abilities are pruned away and your rotations are streamlined, all the fun and flavorful abilities are removed. Content gets recycled like how the Warlock tank glyph in MoP got reworked into Demon Hunters and then the legion weapon abilities get added in as talents in later expansions. WoW is no longer the same game, it's just a long time gate where Blizzard edges you for as long as possible to extract your sub fee and sell you cash shop items.

One of the greatest games ever made, completely ruined by greed and incompetent devs. Entire quest chains removed for being problematic, characters in towns randomly made black for the sake of diversity, everything wrong with the gaming industry is seen in new WoW. It started as a cool game for nerds and by nerds, now it's a product designed to bring a megacorporation that acquired the original company as much cash as possible.

That's called manufactured value and predatory games(mostly gachas) do it all the time. FGO popularized it by having units that could cost thousands of dollars or you could pay $30 for a random SSR. Everyone bought the $30 SSR because it was such a "good value" but that value doesn't actually exist, that's just what the company decided to charge.

A real world example is what you see on Amazon where companies have their base price higher and the item is permanently on sale so it looks like you're getting a deal even though you're buying it for the "normal price". $50 item is whatever, a $50 item that says it's totally $100 but on sale for 50% off gets people to buy it.
>>
>>692810770
I don't give a fuck about what cunts on twitter are saying or doing.
>>
>>692788956
At least you get something with your $90. $90 in a gacha game doesn't even get your the rate up character.
Not excusing one action or the other, but Blizzard could have turned it into a slot machine and extorted more money from brainless MMO drones.

the mailbox makes it so you can get all the gold from your auction house purchases or send things to your other characters anywhere and then the other characters can open that mail anywhere. i struggle to call it p2w because it doesn't necessarily let you win, but your time in game is much better if you have it.

>You think this shit is going to stay contained just to WoW or even Activision?
NTA but no, I don't expect that it's going to stay in WoW and still, I no longer care except feeling a passing sadness whenever I see the things I liked go to new lows. Why don't I care that much anymore? That's because I have amassed my hoard of older games that I can literally play until I die of old age.
While I wish to find newly made games that are appealing to me, I gave up with the optimistic belief that there will always be new games that I like. So I bought some old consoles (that I didn't have before), modded them myself to play backup copies then I downloaded ATLEAST 30% of the entire catalogue for each console (the only exception is the PS2, it has too many games to download such a sizeable portion).
Now I have enough games to last me multiple lifetimes. If any new game comes out that appeals to me, I'll enjoy that but I gave up on the idealistic hope that there will always be new good games for me to enjoy.

Funny how people fail to understand that when they're told to vote with their wallet, a pretty fucking key part of that is that you not only refuse to buy the MTX slop, you stop playing the game entirely.

It wasn't the Steed that was the catalyst, it was the TBC Classic mount that was the catalyst for the /spit movement. They swore up and down that Classic would be free from the modern day influences of retail WoW, and then they went back on that because LMAO at ever trusting anything that Blizzard says.

It's the avacado toast fallacy. While times are hard, the fact is most frivolous purchases are a drip in the massive cost of saving for something else. Not buying that $90 dollar mount is not going to make a difference when housing costs for even the most run down of hovels are $500k and rising. Not only that but it's a bit of a dishonest argument as well that people don't need rewards for their work.

Not saying it didn’t happen back then at all, but it was Asmon actively encouraging people to /spit on store mount users that got the /spit emote effectively banned.

Sort of. It still exists, but the emote can't be targeted onto players. You used to be able to spit on people or NPCs, but now /spit just has you spit on the ground, regardless of who you're targeting.

voting with your wallet works, it's abstaining with your wallet that's ineffective.
>>
Considering the tens of thousands of hours of entertainment this game has given me, 90$ is a small price to show the devs my appreciation.
If anything it’s too cheap. I would gladly throw another hundy or two Blizzard’s way to support the game I love.

>UHHHH? WHY WOULD YOU WANT MONEY, BLIZZARD? SAYS A LOT ABOUT SOCIETY
why do you retards think like this? do you think there's some kind of gold cap irl?
>>
>>692853461
You buy WoW tokens from the auction house, which costs gold
Then you right click the token in your bag and select Battle net money or Blizzard money or whatever they fuck they call it these days
>>
Blizzard makes more money now with less players than it ever did when WoW was at it's peak.
This alone should tell you all you need to know about the industry.
>>
>>692828351
Exactly. All the retards going "I didn't spend a dime, I just farmed gold and bought tokens" don't realize Blizzard doesn't care, whales are instead spending more purchasing tokens for them to buy with gold.
>>
>>692856475

>>
>>692825751
damn it took you this long to respond with a non answer lmao.

fyi gachas get more frequent updates than your dying genre. while you wait 4 months for a 2 hour content patch, gacha shitters get updates every 1.5 month. which also means if you're f2p you only have to save for like a month. don't really have to grind as much either and can quit anytime as a f2p so enjoy your cucked experience lmao.
>>
>>692826234
the mount only cost 1.3 million gold for the first couple hours before wow tokens were all sold out. You could have easily obtained 1.3 million surplus if you had some light interaction with the profession system since release.
>>
>>692854909
Classic was the last time I tried to deal with their bullshit. Then they put fucking tokens in it.
>>
>>692788956

>>
>>692799303
They are just mad it's so visceral and in your face. When players buy gold to buy items in GDKP /v/ has absolutely nothing to say, even though that is directly pay to win.

What I find astonishing is how the big wow content creators are incapable of keeping blizzard accountable, like Asmongold or Bellular, they could be their biggest critics when blizzard fucks up or is embroiled in yet another scandal but the moment wow drops a new patch or expansion they will go back to streaming the game and praising it.
>>
it's easier to spot subhuman ingame

>>
>>692860832

You mean saving yourself a pair of seconds to avoid breaking the sound barrier dragonriding between the mailbox and AH a couple of times while leveling professions or whatever.
Less so actually, since there are going to be so many other idiots who burned $100 to AFK for everyone else's benefit.
>>

To be fair, every time he tries to pivot his views and income tank so he’s kinda stuck on Mr Bones Wild Ride
