This game is so fucking weird. It has very professional presentation but the actual gameplay, writing and level design are abysmally bad
>>
They finally caught up with Western AAA development then, congratulations to them.
>>
>>693329113
I could only stand 4 hours of it before I checked out. It’s not aggressively bad, the voice acting in English certainly is, but it’s just kind of…boring. Loot everything for materials to craft everything you need. Want a new gun? Find the blueprint then craft it. Need more ammo? Craft it. Want the special cartridges that give weapons elemental attributes? Yep, that’s a crafting. I just want to shoot and smash robots with satisfying guns in Soviet Rapture, I didn’t get to do that as much as I thought I would.
>>
>>693329113
One of my favorite games of all time. Abashedly not woke, maybe that's what bothered you?
>>
>>693329113
how bad is the gameplay?
>>
>>693329113
The personality of the protagonist clashed with everything else in the world. Some other review put it along the lines of 'he's like a teenager that just learned what swears are'.
>>
>>693329314
This. At least it had hot robot women.
>>
>>693329752
The sexually aggressive vending machine was at least memorable.

writing is abysmal but gameplay and level design are excellent, this game gets such a weird treatment, same people who act like bioshock is this perfect masterpiece but atomic heart is terrible, when it's just bioshock with worse writing but much better gameplay and more level design variety between tightly designed dungeons, open world segments and puzzle test rooms
>>
Crispy critters
>>
I like the "Arlekino" song
>>
Its actually pretty amazing, halfwy between n Arkane game and a Bioshock-esq title . As far as the writing, I think there is a LOT lost in translation to English and just culturally . I had a Russian speaking anon tell me that there are references to all sorts of things and even the way certain characters talk or behave are related. Its a bit like how longtime JRPG fans will learn the difference between say... how an obvious "genki girl" type persona in Japanese is often localized into just an annoying child, without any of the positivity conveyed in her original presentation? Same sort of thing I think. The fact that most anons don't have a frame of reference for the kind of food set out at russian tea service and/or some soviet era cartoons and cultural memes will limit stuff.

Overall I really liked it an its kind of unique culturally hoping the next expansions are worthwhile

>>
>>693330987
The only problems is that the glove trivializes small groups and the surface enemies respawn too quick, the "bad dialogue" is jus the english dub not swearing sometimes for whatever bizarre reason
>>
>>693330352
THe music overall is pretty great, and unique - certain songs only play at certain times, versions etc. A lot of the "soviet pop/rock" is done really done well too.

also >>693331225
>>693330987
Switch language to Russian its more emotive since it was the original language of development it seems, plus falls into all the references and shit. For instance someone told me the "molesting fridge" has a Russian voice that to anyone watching TV in former USSR will sound like the "Sexually aggressive old woman" - picture a smoking madam saying "Oh don't be afraid Ivan Ivanovich you are new to all this yet, don't worry and let me take care of it". No idea if this is true or not but he speaks way more Russian than I did.
>>
It's like Dying Light, an honest to god non-derogatory 7.5/10. There's likable things in there and a novel idea or two but it feels rough and unrealized.

CRISPY CRITTERS
>>
Sometimes it feels like I'm hungry for any kind of novelty in a way that the vast majority of people who play games straight up aren't. I loved the "ecosystem" shit because it made slaughtering everyone, usually a brainlessly beneficial thing to do in open world games and imsims a resource drain and something to do even a small amount of thinking about. Most people I've talked to just felt like it was an annoying hindrance.
>>
>>693329327
Yeah, I was hype to explore immsim type levels like Bioshock and Prey but it’s just shockingly unfun? Annoying puzzles and floaty, clunky combat
>>
>>693329113
i loved it :)
>>
>>693332332
What's shocking is that neither Bioshock or Prey had dodges
>Annoying puzzles and floaty, clunky combat
i hope you're just a console baby
>>
The marvel dialogue that also serves as exposition dump was jarring.
>>
>>693329113
I just remember it because HOT ROBOT BALLERINA TWINS.

Oh, and I totally would that refrigerator too, but only if she works for it. It's a she right? I'm not going gay for home appliances.
>>
>>693332332
I can’t say I hate it, just that it wasn’t hitting the beats it needed to make me want to play it. Music was good and the levels were novel, but by god I understand now what a male version of the Forspoken character would be like. It’s the protagonist of this game. If I had to change anything for the game to make it more enjoyable it would definitely be changes to the action. Enemies are a little too spongey, ammunition a little too scarce, and anything above ground would loop into never ending alerts as robots called in more robots who would repair destroyed robots. Cheeky references to 0451 and other immersive sims doesn’t change that this game isn’t a very good immersive sim. It could could be a good shooter if it wanted to be.

CRISPY CRITTERS

I think it’s a cultural thing, Russians think asshole protagonists are super cool which you’ll see if you consume their media. To westerners he just looks like a dickhead
>>
>>693330158
The gameplay is hideously unfun tho, it’s just shooting with your floaty gun some bullet sponge robots who push you in a corner and stunlock you
>>
>>693330193
Although I found it weird and annoying as a catchphrase I did smile when he asks the AI if he’ll become a crispy critter if he goes into the boiler room
>>
>>693333640
no you're just bad at the game, not dodging, using the glove and utilizing weaknesses
>>
>>693333583
There were a lot of complaints about protag's personality and VA here in Russia as well.
>>
>>693329113
I got it for free on gamepass and made it an hour and a half in before i uninstalled
it probably would have evened out to a 6/10 by the end but I don't really care enough to spend 10+ hours playing a 6/10 game anymore
feels like one of those games I'd rent once from the local movie rental place when I was a kid

>>693329398
girlboss granny with danger haircut lol
>>
>>693330818
Yeah there was a lot of shit in the writing that confused the hell out of me, I think the translation wasn’t great. The English voice acting is pretty good, but they’re working with some bad stuff. The protag even sounds sometimes like the actor has no idea what he’s saying means
>>
>>693331621

>>
>>693333931

>>
I liked the horny fridge but didn’t understand why she was so often replaced by other fridges that are not horny or funny
>>
>>693333294
This game really came closer to addressing my biggest misgivings about open world games and immersive sims than any other game I've played recently.
>good sense of progression because enemies are varied and initially tanky but you get to start tearing through them when you get upgrades rather than going from easy to EASY
>regenerating enemies with no rewards provides a constant drain on your resources and keeps camps feeling like dangerous places you shouldn't linger in

far cry would have benefit from an alert system. prey would have benefit from doing more to rain your resources so you can't just run away with an zero-scarcity player economy in the 2nd hour of the game. I really think something like the Ecosystem is what the open world genre needs to stop being boring slop.
>>
>>693334272
>so nthing
the first few hours of a game receive the most polish and dev time, this is basic game design. if the first few hours are filled with embarrassing marvel dialogue and lame unskippable cutscenes for a story nobody cares about, this does not signal a good game ahead
>help you while looking normal
>looking normal
lol
here's the thing dude, the game is probably fun. as I said, it probably rises to 6/10. but a 6/10 game with cringe dialogue and forced movie sections is competing for my time with other games, and that's a hard sell
is the juice really worth the squeeze here?

bro you quit before even finishing the tutorial dungeon thinking some granny makes a game without any nigger, fags or trannies with communist villains and a sniveling jew is woke, you're the marvel quip here
>>
>>693335280
>communist villains
but both of the main antagonists hate the USSR and want to destroy it. Nobody in the game has a problem with the secret plan to stage a communist uprising in america through the spread of secretly weaponized consumer electronics, they have a problem with the mass enslavement and genocide plans
>>
>>693335538
> hate the USSR and want to destroy it
what makes you say that? Sechenov and Molotov want to be in charge,Slime is a cum supremacist and P3 is shook by the plan, only reason he would turn
>>
>>693329113
Not playing until the Denuvo is removo
>>
>>693336347
Sechenov and by extension molotov's plans are the removal of everyone's free will but their own which feels to me like a pretty harsh rejection of communist ideals. P3 is surprised by the plan to overtake America but accepted it pretty fast by my recollection of it
>>
Game should’ve been set in like the 90s after the facility is abandoned or something
>>
>>693333731
Is crispy critters a saying in Russia? And can you explain why some of the dialogue is so fuckin weird? Does it sound better in Russian?
>>
>>693336628
You mean group ownership? It's never mentioned in game
P3 lies to Sechenov and goes to Filiatova after Petrov reveals the US takeover plan, then it's a choice between turning on Sechenov and finding out the Politburo is in on the Atomic Heart project or refusing to kill the uber genius who saved your life
>>
>>693329113
I like the level design and the gameplay is passable enough, they sure did fuck up writing was by never having the protagonist shut the fuck up though yeah.

Its a more floaty BioShock which is frankly a pleasant surprise from eurojank, setting is very unique and each new area had me walking around just looking at the environments. Game is 6/10 had serious bullet sponge problems and the story seemed to stop moving after the initial betrayal until you are at the end.

Pretty alright for eurojank. I don't regret playing it. I still vouch for the underground hospital; running around with a melee weapon bashing things to keep the music going is lightning-in-a-bottle peak gaming.

I actually wish she had far more lines, but Nora (I think her name was) has shockingly few lines that appear when interacting with the vendor station.
I was fully expecting overly sexually charged quips from her whenever I upgraded or bought anything but ended up severely disappointed within the first two hours.

A good example of the music, this one from the 2nd DLC (the one that's really fucking off the wall and that's saying something) . Also, the lyrics if- accurate - its thematically consistent with the attempt for the protag to be reconnected with his waifu yet the looping nature of the DLC's reality
>>
>>693342825
I wonder if that's the kind of thing the devs would add in updates if people suggested it. That's one thing - so far I have massive respect for the Devs having
>4 'major' DLCs included in the Premium Edition / Season Pass
>All of them so far are full, expansion style story-advancing content in new locations; at least the first 2 directly follow up big ending choices from the base game
It looks like the 3rd DLC is another major one. Lots of other devs would have fucked off making only the 4th one an expansion style with the other 3 being like some horde mode and skins shit;stuff that's okay, but not anywhere near as preferable as real new content, much less a true "expansion" style DLC. I wonder if it sells more if they'll consider a "second season" of expansions after the first 4 because if they're all like the first 2, I'd easily pay for another season pass of real content, if Mundfish has stuff they want to do and continue the story, new perspectives etc.
>>
>>693335280
it's funny that when given a chance to talk about why the game is good, you instead whinge and whine about why I'm wrong for dismissing a game that starts poorly
enjoy your epic gamer granny and bioshock knockoff I guess
>>
>>693343354
All I know is one of them is set in a virtual world or some shit and is widely hated
>>
>>693346372
The second DLC is in another reality (the one that looks like everything is sweets etc) that seems to be more disliked but a lot of it seems less than justified. Half the objections seem to be just about the aesthetic, which..okay I guess its weird but there's a purpose for it and (again) references to shit that I'm told - though not required to enjoy or overall comprehend the narrative - are helpful if you're Russian an like...aware of traditional tea service foods and customs, like supposedly one of the enemies is modeled on a samovar (the vaguely urn-like water heater used in a lot of Russian style tea service). The anon told me the particular appearance of the playable character is supposed to be (no, its not the easter bunny or an yeti), with the shaggy white setup with the apple (?) on its head but I can't remember what he said. So yeah, its a stark change from the USSR-Bioshock / Infinite aesthetic of the game's main settings, but there's a reason that reality is bending and shit is going weird, and I have no problem with them doing something a bit different.

The other discussion is more legitimate perhaps, but it seems to be because unlike the main game or first expansion, this one has new traversal mechanics that involves a lot of gliding and momentum, using them for platforming. It seemed that people were dying unaware that you had to dive down to get momentum to go up rather than to simply point at the highest point constantly and slowly drift until you fall (think about nearly any game where you glide - simply aiming at the highest point all the time won't work). That combined with the "skiing" is novel, but I don't think its worth rating it down just given adding some momentum platforming segments - with all that in mind it seemed from the bit I played, perfectly viable, though I could see how someone not aware of those mechanics could see issues. So yeah, I don't think its really justified tobe so negative

cool world and atmosphere but it's pretty repetitive, especially if you're clearing the map.

I really liked the game but I do think the overworld design was a little bit underbaked and they should have leaned more heavily into its bioshock and immersive sim influence for world interactivity and combat dynamism.
>>
>Play game
>Game is cool, decent setup, and really cool loking ahestetics
>Keep playing until I get out thinking "Damn this game is short"

It wouldnt be that big of an issue if it wasnt for the fact that you couldnt prevent the robots from eternally respawning again and again and again really fast with almost no cooldown, so I just dropped the game after the ball boss and thats it. Also the fridge went underutilized

the gameplay is fine, but you will fuck yourself if you go out of your way to not us your powers. use them. Also make sure you have weapons for different scenarios and enemies. like something light or automatic, a rocket launcher, and a strong melee weapon.
the writing is okay. the main character is basically the west's idea of a loyal soviet citizen. Overly trusting and dutiful.
I had no problem with the level designs. if you do all the side content, its a casual puzzle platformer with bursts for fps combat. in the side content/labs more backstory is given.

>>693332064
barely need to touch that system. side labs give you specs on weapons, normal gameplay will provide you with all the materials and ammo you could want. mid way through the game it was spending most of the time disassembling extra ammo and healing items.
