System Shock thread

>>694039347
Metro Awakening came out. Is it any good?
>>
>>694039390
Based. How would you improve SS2 for its inevitable remake? It honestly feels more dated than SS1, largely because SS1 dabbled more with systems that didn't become standard. At least it could do with rebalancing, the whole repair skill became obsolete with one low level Psi power and the exotic weapons drop so late to make investment into them not worth it.
>>
>>694039412
The beginning really shocked me with how well it sucked me into the game's world.
I haven't played it all the way through but the beginning has legitimately given me a stronger impression than Alyx.
>>
>>694039596

VR failed
>>
>>694039720
Yeah, I plan on hopping back into it later today.
The only real issue I've had so far is I heard hardcore was the better way to play the game, but I've basically just ran out of ammo playing it that way, I might reduce the difficulty.
The intro sequence doesn't immediately start you into shooting, but you'll get there soon enough, I found that after combat I felt the tension the game had worked me up into.
I've been playing that batman vr game as well as triangle strategy's vr port lately and metro just hooked me in a way those didn't so far.
>>
>>694039412

It really is, shame so much of the porn sucks
>>
>>694040185
I think I played it after that update and it worked fine. In any case, there should be an option to revert to pre-patch.

Mod itself was good. The gameplay controls about as well as you'd expect. Interestingly blocking is a motion control, you put your hands up to do it which works pretty well except for one caveat. The two issues I encountered is that if you don't use the mod option to fix the horizon during cutscenes, it's absolutely nauseating and looks terrible. The second is that the very end of the game has a sort of quicktime sequence where you have to block repeated attacks. That is really fiddly with the motion controls.
>>
Ghosts of Tsushima VR mod works well considering you have to play in 3rd person, recommended
>>
>>694040718
How is third person like that in VR?
I've only had overhead third person like Moss so far in VR.

this meta exclusive shit is killing VR

2 things devs in VR need to is stop making your shit for low end headsets (disgusting) and make your game have EXTREMEM amounts of depth. No VR game to this day has any reason to keep me coming back. ADD DEPTH TO YOUR FUCKING GAME

I'm literally willing to spend thousands of dollars a year on a game that does this.

Devs this gen are low effort in all mediums. This isn't a meta problem, it's a competency crsis

Playing Outer Wilds in VR was the best time I've had in gaming in years
>>
>>694066194
I think it's more about competency crisis. Vr native games suck 90% of the time no matter what the platform. Vr mods are leaps and bounds ahead of the industry because they're not hampered down by corporate bs and actually enjoy what they do and games. Remember, paid devs this gen basically hate gamers. They want to punish you during the time you give them. It's not an accident. They basically tell you to your face these days.
>>
>>694066274
The VR mod for this is great, I loved it so much I got really spooked during the dlc though because I'm a pussy
>>
>>694066274
I think playing Outer Wilds for the first time in VR is the coolest experience you can have in video games right now.

I wish I could say the same for Riven in VR, but the fucking port is still terrible and busted.
>>
>>694039390
how's that system shock 2 vr mode going anyway?
>>
Harleen sex
>>
>>694066468
VR mods aren't ahead of anything other than AAA VR ports, they're just ports 90% of the time, and incomplete ones at that.
If you're bothered by VR games having lower production quality that's not a competency issue, it's a money and motivation issue.
Otherwise you'll have to explain what you mean in specifics.
>>
>>694066274
Is it actual VR with hand presence and object manipulation, or just "3d 3DoF w/ gamepad"?
>>
>>694068472
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uuNx6_jy6o&t=278s
You can see hands and manipulate objects
>>
>>694068472
Yes to a limited extent. The objects that you manipulate with your hands are limited to the translator and the scout launcher. But you do have proper 6DOF control and grabby hands.
>>
>>694067783
Then why do people who do it for free do it sp much better than a multi million dollar dei studio
>>
>>694070004
Now that is a competency issue, and perhaps an issue of experience and actually caring about VR.
Bigname flat studios like IOI don't give a flying fuck about VR and just hand their VR port off to whoever, and unsurprisingly it ends up sucking ass.
I did give modders credit there, they can do ports better than the AAA flat industry, because they actually care about VR.
If you want more people to care about VR on that level, we probably need more successful games and more retention for VR, good thing is that looks like it's slowly happening, or at least it does right now.

I'm just saying that you shouldn't bitch about it being that way, it was obvious there wasn't enough demand to create big games with just pcvr.

Yes, but you're an actual retard if you think people will buy full pcvr set ups en masse over something that is all in one.

It doesn't have to be big budget. Any game made with PCVR in mind is better than all Quest games. Look at indie games such as Solus Project. Nothing on a mobile touches it.
>Yes, but you're an actual retard if you think people will buy full pcvr set ups en masse over something that is all in one.
At least I can make some sense. What the fuck are you trying to say?

As someone who actually owns a quest 3, you couldn't be more wrong. I won't defend the vr market being hamfisted onto a mobile market, but that still doesn't suddenly make the quest 3 a bad product. It is easily good enough to have replaced my netbook as my daily carry. I only bring my quest 3 and a keyboard with me to work now and have been for many months now without problems. Spatial computing is the future.
>>
>>694082473
Well you're free to, it's just pathetic.
You got games because (((investors))) were sold on VR the same way they're sold on AI right now, and because companies were loss leading. It wasn't sustainable and you didn't have the market on PCVR alone to keep getting titles like that, Valve could produce Alyx because they're a private company and can actually choose what they want to do and not appease retards with money.
>>

I'll be honest though I really like passthrough. I don't really know what I'm missing. >PCVR was doing just fine until shit quest headsets arrived and you stupid fucks clapped and sucked his cock while took us back to the stone age
how, you fucking retard? it takes two clicks for these retarded devs to change the build settings in their shitty unity game.

I'm looking forward to Behemoth
Probably gonna get it on PCVR even though my 3070 has issues with some games (primarily VR modded games)
>>
>>694084837
I'm cautiously optimistic about it.
The concept is good and I liked the weight of the melee in walking dead saints and sinners, but everything I see of it has gotten me a little less optimistic about it.

The future has finally arrived!

What's watching movies in VR like? I assumed it'd be shit unless they where designed specifically for it.
>>
>>694081047
I flew there in MSFS (in VR, of course) and it wasn't really deep in a valley
>>
>>694082993
>I use my Q3 almost exclusively for pcvr.
same I mostly use it for the passthourh vam session though. I pirated the fuck out of bamham and re4.
>>
>>694085252
It's like being in a theater for the most part.
Kind of comfy since you can bring your own snacks and go there with people you know online.

>passthourh vam session
a man of culture I see
>>
My 2nd G2 cable is finally dying. Considering they don't make these anymore, what headsets should I look out for? Is the Deckard still a thing?
>>
I wish I had enough room for VR, life in a bongland shoebox house is a hard one.
>>
>>694085252
Bigscreen is a free app that lets you stream from your pc onto your quest in a theater environment - pretty comfy
Theres also multiplayer rooms where some people will play movies with proper 3d effects. Pretty neat
>>
>>694085575
It's probably still being worked on, but it's not out.
If you want PCVR specifically maybe a beyond?
>>
>>694086076
>Beyond
1k not including controllers or base stations is too steep for me unfortunately. Maybe I just wait for the new Valve headset (copium) or I buy a Q3.
I've also heard the PSVR2 isn't that bad despite it being completely gimped on PC.

Quest 3 might be the next best then, I've been enjoying mine. Definitely get something with pancake lenses.

Sirs?

>>694086878
Hows the compression? I've heard people complain about it before but I've never experienced a wireless headset.
>>
>>694087115
a wireless headset is extremely good for porn I'll just tell you that much
>>
>>694087115
I'm probably not the best one to ask, I barely notice it when I'm actually doing something.
>>
>>694087204
Interesting...
I heard it can't play 8k HEVC video though, do you just download 4k? What about AV1?
>>
>>694087252
They are all playable with skybox vr, no? I meant mostly by porn games
>>
>>694087656
>games
Never mind.
>>
>>694081364
Woah that looks amazing. I'll check it out. Thanks anon
>>
bump
>>
>>694092153
Not really sure there's anyone to talk about any games on right now anon.
>>
>>694039347
Honestly the only thing i have done in VR outside Alyx is Koikatsu VR and MocuMocuDance.
>>
>>694052259
Both KK games have school VR iirc.
Studio is the good part though.
