Why did the best MMOs failed ?
>>
>>694406470
It didn't hold your hand so you actually had to look for stuff or talk to other people
>>
>>694406470
in this game's case; p2w, throwing out the sauce to remake it worse than before because powercreep couldn't be solved due to incompetence, korean grinding sensibilities, and a lack of basic gameplay elements to direct players toward interesting things with useful and meaningful rewards instead of farming loot & exp until their eyes bleed, and general age.

Most other MMORPGs die of monetization practices, poor gameplay expression, or heavily-restricted player-freedoms.

MMOs died out because of social media
half of the reason MMOs thrived and felt soulful was the lack of massive social platforms online

Didn't expect good answers. I'll had on top the change to online culture. People will tell you to "google it" before entertaining the idea of giving you a human answer. You could say the "solofication" of MMOs too.

Those aren't even related and social media already existed before facebook or smartphones were a thing. The normies that used modern facebook were never into mmos in the first place.

>millennials look at that and say "SHIT'S FIRE YO!"
Stop living in the past, there's plenty of good modern mmos out there.

>the true creators of the game, the geniuses behind making ragnarok based on D&D speed combat, left before classes 2-2 were released
>Gravity took years to fix basic bugs in the game
>Gravity literally doesn't even understand what makes the game popular
>Gravity began selling MVP cards
>Gravity launched the third classes which makes the game unplayable without cash shop items; which typically triple the characters damage and survivability; also, all classes are meant to level up by doing large AOE damage destroying the variety of gameplay
>Gravity made 300 mobile versions of Ragnarok without remaking or fixing the original

This, there is a reason RO peaks in private servers where people can customize the crap away

Yeah I don't remember that server, the admin is powertripping and banning people for speaking out against him even when they don't break any rules.

I miss Idle Poring... I played the heck out of that game... anyone know of any mobile games identical to it?

lull you're mentally ill and that's why people dislike you and remove you from places
>>
>>694406470
I tried to introduce a friend to RO and his response was that "it looks childish im going to play WoW instead" then spent the next 5 years complaining that WoW was too casual and it sucked but never stopped playing it.
So I will always blame WoW for destroying any chance of a good mmo in the west
>>
there is a lot of shitposting going on by mentally-impaired /rog/-schizos ignoring the thread's topic to make the thread about them and their drama.

you've been warned.

Is OP talking about RO or old (2000s) MMOs in general because if it's the former RO was never good and it's destined to fail.

>>694407138
Terrible take, non-hand holding doesn't excuse the grindy nature of the game and people especially those who spend all their free times in front of the computer could easily look shit up then. Guides existed then.
>>
>>694406470
to say RO failed is a stretch. if anything the world can't outgrow its magic 20 years later

>grindy nature of the game
Grinding was usually something you did in between socializing or if you hunting for a specific item
Not a lot of people really cared to even reach level 99, and it was a big deal, usually. If you had better gear/cards at like level 78-80 you could dunk them anyway.

Fuck queues, fuck dailies and fuck rotations

pretty much
I'd rather do old school farm in games like l2 and ro than daily garbage and rotations

Nobody is saying everyone switched to facebook, tard. It's that social media is way more ubiquitous today.
MMOs unique feature was the chat + players and that was good enough to sell the game. now every game has online. there's reddit, /v/... the list goes.
