I just think GBA/DS Castlemania combat is neat. Controllable jumps, slide/backdash for positioning (that AREN'T invincible like every EZ mode 2d game out there), multiple weapon weights with different recoveries meaning you need to time your presses for max DPS. It's all very fun.

Twin flames slowly circling you and hit twice as fast, maybe faster than your whip if you line up on enemies correctly, for just as damage usually, while allowing free movement, AND works well for accidentally one-shotting breakable walls, floors, and ceilings. All this and the MP cost is so cheap that by level 30 or so, even in Normal mode, you’ll have enough INT to recover MP than you lose. It’s just stupid practical for so much besides it’s alleged shielding ability.
