Except when they aren't, every other day takes place in the other timeframe, so Ryuki has day one of his story in the past, the next day is in the present, and the next day is back in the past. Mizuki's is the opposite and the reason why she has the same model in the past is because you're playing as a clone of Mizuki who is also named Mizuki. Ryuki's days in the present work because he's a literal schizo and is suddenly thinking about events from 6 years ago. The only point to this twist is to be a twist for the player, they even have a side character explain the twist to you before the final chapters just to make sure you understand it.
