>better characters, music, story, shooting, bounties, and ending
RDR is better than RDR2.
>>
Real question is how would you would've fixed RD2
>>
>>695179209
Been playing it for a few weeks now
It really aged up well and while Ido think it's better than 2, I do miss a lot of what 2 introduced plus the gorgeous visuals
But man 2 is just so fucking slow. Everything, just moves at a snail's pace. Shooting, riding, walking.
2 is such an awkward game
>>
>>695179594
Make it a sequel to 1 instead of a prequel with shit characters. Or just make 2 not be directly related to 1 while taking place in a similar or earlier time period like 2.
>>
>>695179594
>Real question is how would you would've fixed RD2
Less awkward gameplay, ragdoll physics and shooting from 1
Story set on the height of the West instead of it's decline
No fucking Rockstar DRM
>>
>>695179594
Hire good writers.
>>
>>695179686
Horse riding is definitely better in 2, everything else I agree with though. It's too interactive and there's too many animations for every interaction so the entire pace slows down. skinning animals is a good example of this.
>>
>>695179594
Get better coders. This game crashes like fucking crazy, it's baffling how badly Rockstar fucked this up on PC.
>>
>>695179209
I agree, the story is more personal and impactful. RDR2 was written by people who never had a family.
>>
>>695179686
>But man 2 is just so fucking slow. Everything, just moves at a snail's pace. Shooting, riding, walking.

is RDR2 the most autistic and ADHD/OCD-designed game ever?
>>
>>695179209
I just love both. In fact I'm going to install RDR2 as well.
>>

>Horse riding is definitely better in 2
I think everythign involving the horses is better yeah, but riding IS slower which just contributes to the issue
>It's too interactive and there's too many animations for every interaction so the entire pace slows down
I wouldn't even mind that if the game at least was desgined around it, like okay it takes 10s to skin a wolf, but that should mean skinning 1 wolf should net you a big pelt of which you can sell for a decent price or make a lot of stuff with, instead it's worth nothing and you need to skin like 20 wolves to make a single hat
Even if the enviromental elements were slow like looting and skinning, I'd still be much more forgiving if the shooting and moving wasn't. But it is and it drags the game down so much
The level design is also awful in the sense that the game seems embarassed that it is a cover shooter
RDR1 has chest high wall EVERYWHERE
Missions and Hideoputs are usuall big corridors or arenas fot you to find cover and shoot. You could actually have fun and challenge in hardcore mode
2 seemingly expects you to auto aim and abuse Deadeye at every turn becaus it often features no cover and spawns enemy from thing air behind you
>>
>>695179209
Tips for RDR2? I want to start it next week.
>>
>>695179594
rip out all the slow ass movement
>>
>>695182301
This. Playing the game is like watching molasses run down a wall.
>>
>>695182210
Don't visit the other regions if the camp hasn't moved
I think RDR2 wanted to wall off the different regions like it did for every game of theirs before GTAV but couldn't find an organic way to do it so it just left it all open but a lot of story beats don't make much sense if Arthur has already visited the place (except I think Roanoke, because he references knowing the murfree brood)
Like there's a cutscene that introduces Not!New Orleans and it's a long shot of it and Arthur andDutch talking about it, but if falls pretty flat if you had already visited it

Warband but wild west.
>>
so while I agree, Fortnite just has a better community surrounding itself. unlike RDR2 or RDR so I would just drop into some solos and maybe get a brain
>>
>>695182210
Get a mod to fix or replace the TAA. It's a gorgeous game brought down by terrible stock anti aliasing.
>>
>>695183161
recommend me something that doesn't crash my performance
>>
>>695183416
Look up Ultimate TAA on Nexus.

On a whim I loaded up a save file for RDR 1 I started a few years back. Way towards the end of the game. A few missions before John takes out Dutch. And then loaded up RDR 2 a few days later. 1 is more video game like, which is good obviously. 2 is more cinematic, but exploring, killing animals to cook them, robbing people, and staying a few days out in nature before returning to town to restock, sell and bathe/eat a real meal hit an autism button for me.
>>
>>695182210
If you're playing on pc you might run into a ton of crashes.
>>
>>695183578
Thank homie
>>695183852
2's immersion and world are better but the core gameplay is worse
I think it's a ad sign that all Iwant to do in your western game is hunt and fish and camp and dread having to shoot people
I tried a few mods to fix the combat but they all seem to want to dive deeper into the autism rather than fix it
>>
>>695183578
Which one? there's at least three and none have that specific name.
>>
I wish the RDR remake rumors were real, except it keeps 1's movement, music, shooting, and minigames but had 2's world immersion. I'd have no reason to ever touch RDR 2 ever again if it happened.
>>
>>695179594
less animations and make arthur move a bit faster to actually make it fun to play
>>
>>695185109
What makes you think something good would ever happen?

Firstly, I wouldn't lock activities and weapons to story progression, and certain mechanics being only one-offs like safecracking, bounties, loan sharking, cheating, and herding being only one-offs was enormously disappointing.

I would do something radical and not have a linear campaign. You have one goal; fill up the camps coffers up to a certain amount before you die of tuberculosis. Heists would obviously be the predominant means of making money, but you could do it gambling, ranching/cattle rustling, bounty hunting, regular hunting, etc. Additionally, fame would return as a state and certain levels of reknown would afford better opportunities. For example, if you're famous for being good at poker, then gradually wealthier players would start appearing, and eventually you'd be invited into high society games, but if you're a known cheat then you'd be shut out. If you were a good duelist, law enforcement would give you better bounty hunting jobs, with duelists that disarm their opponent being capture-only bounties while killer duelists would be sent to gang hideouts to kill everyone.

If your bounty is high enough, then the gang has to move and cannot return to that state until the bounty is paid off. Fame also acts as a permanent multiplier to your bounty and people will more readily recognize you the more famous you are. You can eliminate the bounty by serving time in prison and doing jobs for the law, but your tuberculosis would progress. Game ends in one of three ways, you fill up the coffers and die peacefully with Mary-Beth, you die of tuberculosis before filling up the coffers, or the gang cannot escape to any new state because they have obscenely high bounties and Arthur dies in a shootout.

The main missions would be treated as optional.

>game sends you to Mexico
>cool introduction and first several missions, beautiful environments
>but then cue 10 hours of "aaay gringo we, rebels/gubmint, are the good guys, do JUST ONE more thing for us and we will DEFINITELY tell you where your bandits are *wink*" and they just string you along again and again
>eventually gubmint turns on you, but you capture that homo captain who tells you where your target is SWEARONMEMADRE CABRON
>he isn't fucking there, and there was no option to leave the fruitcake alive in case he lied because reasons
>also after thorougly BTFOing rebels throughout the campaign you do a few things for them and suddenly they are winning bigly for some reason and you are taking the regional capital
>catch one bad guy alive, but you can't do the same with the other one and that faggot beaner Lenin shoots him in cold blood because ???
>"aaay gringo how about you stick around" NO FUCK YOU I'M OUT
The rest of the game is good, but Mexico is such a mind numbing slog, it brings the game down from a solid 9/10 to like a 7.5/10. This part doesn't even have any likeable or funny characters aside from the retired gunslinger. I just started Undead Nightmare and it seems fun, so maybe my rating will have improved by the end of it.

i didn;t enjoy rdr2. i played it on pc with a controller but i hate how arhur moved. he felt clunkier than the original armored core i also liked i was so sick of the game by the end, where you play as john, that i was DONE with playing the game.
>>
People say RDR2 is slow, but I'm playing first one first, and it's boring me to tears
>ride a horse
>mash shift to run faster
>see flower
>get off horse, slowly pick up the flower, get back on horse
>see cayote
>get off horse, slowly skin the cayote, get back on horse
What is this ubisoft dredgery? After playing Ghost of Tsushima, where you don't need to get off horse for pick ups, this feels so awful
Can I just not pick them up outside quests? I got a mod that turns off loot animations but the horse is still a clunky piece of shit

>>
>>695180229
rdr2 already has great physics it's much more heavy and realistic that feels right for the immersive graphics it has. gta4/rdr style ragdoll will ruin it.
>>
>>695185636
I agree that the main campaign get tiresome with how they string you aling but Reyes is awesome and a joy to see everytime
Also there was literally zero reason for him or you to leave Allende alive
>>
>>695188534
I disagree, the reactions in 1 were much better. People clutched their injured parts, the momentum was much better
RDR2 is too slow in thing it can never be slow like movement and action
>>
>>695188637
Didn't care about Allende, I wanted Bill alive. I don't understand why they force you to kill him when you can capture Javier and hand him over.
