>post a game that has better smithing

...any other game, then? A crafting skill shouldn't be the only means to effectively upgrade melee damage, and simultaneously render loot virtually inert. Fuck Smithing, it's shit.
>>
>>695182386
Never ending restart simulator the game, nothing is ever perfect. when you finish a quest or entire chain, it's gone forever. when you become too powerful things become meaningless. discover a location, can be never discovered again....

Morrowind. You can enchant weapons and buff yourself enough to crash the game
>>
>>695182386
game becomes boring pretty fast when you do that. might as well console yourself into final battle and beat the game in 1 min.

>waste hours getting smithing and alchemy high enough to do this
>go out and one shot everything you run into
>oh no the game isn't fun anymore because there's no challenge
Why do autists do this shit? I have a friend that does this all the time in games and I don't get it.
Like grinding in a JRPG to be way overleveled. What's the point?

The Atelier franchise is built around that. My personal biased-favourite is Atelier Escha & Logy, but both the Arland and Dusk games are great. I don't like the Mysterious games but those are popular too.

would be better if you did this to create some one time use scroll, not a permanent item, or at least something that requires maintenance and breaks in use and not in slap a grind stine on it way.
>>
does item leveling in disgaea count

To add to this, Atelier has a fun system where all the materials come with skills that can be passed on when you use them for alchemy. One medicinal herb could have healing, a different one could cure status ailments, either can be used to craft a potion. Or do you want your potion to buff everyone's attack or defense?
High quality boots base stats, and even the ingots you forge will have skills from the ores you use that can be passed on to weapons and armor.

The fun in the numbers side of RPGs is learning how to break the system. It's why JRPGs are such convoluted bullshit, it's to obscure the gamebreaking solution inside them. Think crissaegram grinding in SOTN, or really like two thirds of that game.

Of course, the point is to find that stuff yourself.

Dragonbone Greatsword is my favorite weapon in Skyrim.
I love how the crossguard hilt looks, It meshes really well with the Dawnguard armor.
>>
smithing in skyrim is the literal thing that makes this game so ass though. there's no point to leveling up combat skills or exploring, your important progression is damage numbers and that happens at the crafting table
>>
>>695182386
Skyrim's "smithing" is just making 1 gorillion iron daggers to get a fixed damage buff on every weapon then nothing else. I can't think of a game with good blacksmithing, but it's certainly not Skyrim.
For enchanting, it's Morrowind. Probably the most fun you can have with magic in a video game.
>>695184276
Play into it as part of your roleplay narrative or don't use it unless you "need it" like a stage 2 anime buff or something. Then it gets kino.
>>
oblivion lockpicking was so fun bros, I hate nu fallout and skyrim shit
>>
>>695187160
I wouldn't say the latter is overtly bad, at least it's still somewhat immersive.
>>
>>695184276
That's why these games have changeable difficulty settings.

Fixed in that you can't improve your smithing skills any more after you smith your 1 gorillion daggers. There's no depth to it.

I liked that Fallout 3 had a different lockpicking system, but Bethesda porting it to Skyrim made me hate it.

No, it's not. That's just what you personally deride from it.
