Pheromosa is insane all around, Forretress is a premier hazard setter, scizor is an absurdly bulky sweeper, shedinja completely counters one of the most meta-relevant legendaries in pokemon history (kyogre), ribombee is the fastest sticky web setter that exists. Durant unfortunately was only good in gen 8 but he leveraged thr Dmax gimmick better than almost anyone. Like damn.

The fact that there have been successful bug mons show that the type isn't inherently unsalvagable, it's that mons with <400 BST literally can't compete against 600 BST mons. Anything, not just bugs, below the 500 mark is going to struggle without some cheeky gimmick, and below 450 it's practically impossible.And I guess reverse the bug/fairy interaction.
