Aerial combat is functional and kinda fun, giving some skills use in the air and even exclusively on the air. Staggers lasts less, and the health gates arent the same as phase change, that reduces drastically the "oh, i wasted stagger because phase change"

For one, the characters are more fleshed out. Yuffie in the original is a bit of a bonus non character, she has dialogue but only really when she is in your party for flavor, and a bit part to play during the junon escape as well, where as in Rebirth she is a lot more fleshed out. However, on the flipside, as far as characters are concerned, more isn't exactly better. I felt like they were trying to play into the melodramatic love triangle between Tifa and Aerith too much in the remake, and focused a lot of effort on "player agency" as far as the Cloud's relationship with the other characters are concerned when Cloud himself is supposed to be a static character. The scene with Barret and Dyne had good acting, but sloppy execution as well, and was overly padded. The largest issue the story has so far is they want to extend the length of every single little moment no matter what, leading to a series of games that has roughly a 120 hour run time give or take, maybe 60-80 if you gloss over a lot of the side content, where a lot of the character building strengths lie, but with a story that is by and large the same, which is fine, but doesn't leave me interested in wanting to see more, because I simply know how things should play out. If they play out differently, im not invested enough in the mystery box content to really give a shit. At best, Schrodinger's Aerith makes me roll my eyes.
