>>697837956
Tokyo has lower cost of living than basically any other first world city anywhere near it in scale, the rents are absurdly low for how densely populated it is and thats largely due to the fact they aren't arbitrarily limiting construction.
I wouldn't really want to live there, but if I had to for work I'd be glad I could pay 800$ a month for an average 1 room apartment instead of literally 2500$ like the last city I lived in.

Street View is like 20 years old or so.
I remember in 2005/2006 being just blown away by that and Google Earth.
The next evolution of going from THAT to a more seamless experience of walking around like that.

Even if you had to pay a certain amount of money to cover a certain amount of square miles to do so.

>what I want to see is Google Street View photos used to make detailed photogrammetry

That's right.
You'd take a picture of your surrounding, and the AI would create a sort of digital twin of what's in that picture.
Or, just upload an area in Google Maps / Street View and it'd do that as well.
Think of that with something like this - >>697853252

And developers can create game types and game mechanics and such, and you could play all these different styles of games across these digital twins of IRL areas.
Even in your own house, really, on a micro level.
Sitting down on your couch and playing a game like THIS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_Commander in your own house.
Or Mario Kart or Counter Strike in your own neighborhood & etc etc

I like Asakusa, but having been to Japan seven times now I can’t help but notice the propensity of the district to appeal specifically to foreigners. Establishment called Samurai sushi, Ninja Yakiniku, Katana Wagyu, and other names designed to sell Japanese cultural history to foreigners. It’a rather jarring compared to the other districts, but it is still comfy there. I always make sure to buy some coffee at kappabashi when I’m in the area.

Seoul is lame honestly. Good if you are a normalfag or a women who wants to do nothing but shop in an even more capitalistic hellhole than the US or Japan. Japan at least has lots of small mom and pop shops Seoul is just giant national corporate dystopian mega malls and foreign luxury brands everywhere.
The nightlife is more traditional western "clubbing" which fucking sucks unless, again, you are a normalfag.
Food is good I will admit but it honestly didn't blow my mind.

>it's well kept
Touristy or nice areas, hell even in the touristy ones if you look around you can see plenty of shit wrong, like anywhere in the world.

The roads are generally nice in the city instead of the potholes we have here but less traffic and lighter vehicles (especially commercial ones). Still step outside of the part of a city where the major business towers do upkeep and you will see plenty of fucked up sidewalks, paths and stuff overgrown and death trap pedestrian crossings, rusted shit etc. That isn't even counting the rural or worse yet inaka "roads"

Also a distinct lack of jeets, niggere, inbred sand niggers, "refugees", Although more and more jeets as "learning workers" to get experience in Lawson's and 7-11s to thene go back and open....

Still going to be fewer jews but they are constantly in the news calling out Japan for its lack of diversity (yes really).

Anyway if we are doing pictures, here is mine a few years back from the hotel room in Shinjuku (the hotel room was quite nice and large (western large not just Japanese large)

i've always had this dream of just suddenly teleporting to tokyo with no objective and i'd just explore it for fun.

finally made it a reality last summer by getting an airbnb in there for 10 days, going there with just a backpack, and it was fucking epic. did exactly what i planned (=didn't play anything) and loved every second. just exploring without objective, alone, with no distractions, occasionally sitting down to eat or have a coffee, and took a train back (usually) in the evening.
SO fun, one dream fulfilled. can't express how blissful it was. might unironically be the peak of my life

You can go to Japan without knowing Japanese if you have a working mobile device with translation and GPS navigation software
As long as you are patient and understanding that the Japanese just want to continue how they've been doing things and that you're just a visitor, everything can be okay. Look for places with English menus, be polite, and go to the Drunken Clam in Dotonbori for English karaoke

Yeah, Tokyo is VERY foreigner friendly. You do not need to know any japanese (though it certainly helps) but just about everything will have English text next to it in Tokyo. Its when you go outside of Tokyo out to the rural countryside where you may be screwed if you don't know how to read Japanese because almost nobody will speak english out there.

Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka are basically the most "tourist" friendly cities in Japan which is why everyone goes there.
>>
Just buy a house there already. Japan is straight up selling abandoned houses in rural areas on the cheap. You just gotta clear out the stuff that the previous tenants left behind.

I ask because I'm trying to get a sense of how much a two week stay would cost. Right now I got about $2.5k saved up.

I would think that's the bare minimum. Depends on what you like and want to do. No one knows that but you.

You think I could move to Japan after I graduate college? Either Japan or Taiwan. I am tired and burnt out living in America, I just want to live a peaceful life out in rural Japan.

I have one connection there, an aunt.

Yes. Like >>697906676 and >>697906889 pointed out, rural towns are in decline because of people moving into the cities, so you can buy an akiya relatively cheap, minus the costs for fixing the place back up.
If you're lucky some of the stuff from the previous tenant might be pawnable for a good price to help with the costs of renovation.

I don't want to read the whole thread can someone make a list of all the games mentioned?

One important fact though is that Japan doesn't have an investment visa like other countries that offer this. So even if you buy it you still have to go through all the regular channels just to live in it full time. They get your money and one less abandoned home but you don't even get residency or any kind of visa upgrade. I was interested until i found this out. No thanks.

since the buildings are so tight, why dont they just connect all buildings with eachother to get a massive solid block? and by connecting them i mean sideways pillars or even walkways.

Did you not get a ticket to any of the official viewing places of the scramble? Wondering why you wouldn't post that instead.

Permissive zoning laws and non-retarded building design criteria

I've been all over the world, dozens of countries, every continent but Antartica.
I still love Japan the most after the USA (its fucked up but its home).
Japan just has such a perfect balance of awesome cities and nature and cultural attractions and safetey and convenience. it is both modern and historical. Good modern pop culture, great traditions and history. And on the topic of this thread, Tokyo is just simply better than any Western mega city. It isn't even a contest.
Japan is great.

Is it easy to move there? I have some money saved up and I want to move to a cheaper place and just fuck off from society.

Japs managed to built even more soulless urbanist hell than NYC

This is the reason why birthrates are low btw.
Nothing to do with race or culture or anything like that.
It’s living in a cramped concrete labyrinth like this that completely demoralizes the mind subconsciously about having kids.
>>
>>697923417
Except that the rural areas are suffering an even bigger population decline than the cities.
>>
>>697923565
Because they migrate into cities dummy
>>
>>697843102
China unironically looks better than Japan at this point

I'm talking in regards to birth rates too though dummy.

I hate cities.
