>>698175268I liked 1.4 a fair bit, but it suffered because of how mediocre 1.1-1.3 were for the overall story. as stand alone, more slice of life stories, they were mostly fine, with some pacing issues to most of them, but they ignored the overall plot which led to a lot of things in 1.4 being rushed. qingyi and zhu should have found out we're phaethon in 1.1, jane should have found out basically right after meeting us. we should have talked to perlman during 1.2 and he should have told us his story then, it's absolutely insane that he just sleeps through that patch. 1.3 could have still had the hacking story, but it needed a little bit of comic backstory to tie it together, and the fact that we don't get involved to counter-hack is a crime. if you follow my route, then our friends in pubsec now know we're the greatest proxies out there, so they could come to us and tell us section 6 needs our help, and then we hack in and help yanagi. in 1.3 we'd also investigate perlman's claims to see if they're true, which would allow things to breathe a bit since they mostly went at a breakneck speed. they could have wrapped up the beef with lucius during lighter's storyand what's up with no commissions? commissions aren't a perfect fix, but if they throw some of those here and there during the story, the forced downtime with a bit of cheap written story could help the pacing a bit

The routine clean ups take place in Hollow Zero and Hollow Zero doesn't work like the other hollows, like it's currently impossible to remove enough etheric material from it to make it start to shrink (in part due to shit like Ninivah) so to keep it from growing instead they have people go in and lower the amounts of Etherals to keep the amount of etheric material low enough. Golden Week (Hollow C42) is another example of the non HZ hollows in action. HIA and Obsidian worked to kill enough shit in it to make it close in the following weeks but the amount of AI powered security systems that got activated by hollow raiders that came in after HIA/Obsidian to loot the place caused a large enough increase that it was becoming stable again, which is why you go to remove the security system.
