They’re just the better games right now. That’s an objective statement. There’s nothing else on par with their story, music or gameplay. Gacha’s problem though is the same problem that long running shounen anime (e.g. One Piece) have where because the business model is based around new characters, that becomes the focus of release updates. But everyone knows that good narratives limit down the amount of characters involved.Look at ZZZ’s trailer focus. There was one lore trailer early on, that’s it. If gacha wants to survive, it needs to find new business model.

I’ll explain gacha’s soulful current state a bit more. Basically, gacha is the JRPG 2.0, and it’s important that the games are mostly from Korea and China. Japan has Boomer Culture, where it’s ingrained in them to show respect to their elder. What’s happened to most major JRPG companies is that their company leadership are all 60 year olds. 60 year old Japanese men don’t play games. They don’t have any modern/nostalgic design to draw from. Look at ZZZ. You read the articles, the guys are in their 30s and able to properly draw from DmC, Digimon World, Street Fighter. China and Korea are still essentially making JRPGs. They’ve taken the anime culture of the 90’s and 2000s which was left behind by Japan, because Japan were chasing Western gaming trends in 2010.
