It's better than wasting your borrows on trying to make your ace directly, because when you make even some passable parents, you can keep running with those even when you run out of borrows for the day. And then eventually you will get lucky and when trying to make a parent you'll get a 3*. But for now settle with 7*-8* parents with long sparks or whatever it is you're looking for. I made two 8*s in a couple days and I've already made my all time strongest horse and it wasn't even an ideal run. No borrows needed

They basically have to maintain the lead the entire time, and if there's only one front runner in the race they get screwed, so that's why you run multiple because they play off each other. Problem is they're extremely stamina hungry as well and even with all that work they still aren't that great. Seiun Sky is gonna change that when she gets added, as well as Summer Maruzensky and a few others like Kitasan (trainee)

Then I switch her back to front when the coast looks clear and she gets 2nd in the finale. I've been struggling with Top Gun (just the normal one, not wedding version so cant speak for that) myself, she's kinda finnicky. Either way a loss in a career doesnt mean your horse is awful. Oftentimes it's just bad RNG, especially with those stats and abilities. But being the only front runner in a race can screw you even in career mode especially in the finale.

So, subtract 111 from your wit and you've got about 330, which is still not a horrible place for your wit, but if you want all those recoveries to activate, yeah it might hurt you a little. When your speed is low, you're not gonna get as much out of it. 800ish speed is a bit on the lower side, but this might be okay for something like Class B. Also lower speed means less stamina demands, so you probably wont gas out as an end closer. But I think you can aim for better if you wanna keep trying

You can essentially divide them into skills that always target specific runners and skills that targets different umas depending on your own position (ahead / behind you, when you are in the front / back). The first category don't need you to be able to run more than 100m before passing out of exhaustion to proc, but the second category can be affected by low stats since your own position is a part of the skill proc. In practice it just means that you can't use the skills that only proc when you are in the front half (skill description mentions "when positioned toward the front") or skills that target umas behind you (skill description mentions "runners behind") unless you can train your debuffer to at least keep up with the pack.
