It was literally advertised to be unconnected and the connection was literally a bait put there by Tsumugi that you still believe is relevant when the final chapter literally outright says that it has nothing to do with the Hope's Peak arc. Killing Harmony is it's own game, taking place in an alternate "real world" where people watch death games because they liked a franchise a bit too much. These posts show beyond a shadow of a doubt that you guys clearly missed the point entirely if you think this game is in any way meant to connected narrative-wise to the rest of the franchise. I know it's a mainline game, but it's more akin to a spin-off considering it takes place in a completely different reality to that of the original games.

The only reason the case is reopened is because Shuichi finds proof of a second ball which changes everything.
