We are going to need more people mixing songs so we can work through all the submitted vocals in time for the deadline, so I've prepared a resource of torrents for plugins you can use to help you get started with mixing your vocals and stuff later on, I pulled all of them from RuTracker: https://files.catbox.moe/ev15il.zipUse Qbittorrent to get the torrents to download. For audio software, I recommend REAPER. It's not as easy as Audacity, but once you learn it you'll be able to do whatever you need: https://www.reaper.fm/download.phpWe have a mixing template for it, included in the torrent ZIP.In case you have a powerful enough PC, this is what you can use to remove vocals from songs you've downloaded: https://github.com/Anjok07/ultimatevocalremovergui <--- USE THIS FOR INSTRUMENTALSIn case you need high quality files for songs you like, the best bet is to find them using Soulseek: https://www.slsknet.org/news/node/1And finally, in case your music only exists in the form of a Youtube video, here is YT-DLP. It's CLI, but it works well enough if you remember to use "yt-dlp -x ": https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlpYT-DLP has a few GUI implementations, such as TarTube: https://tartube.sourceforge.io/

When will the radio get updated? I'm seeing tracks from last yearWell this year is going great so far
>>721056616I'm still waiting on the Rance X translation>released 7 years ago
>>721056716it's being officially translated now, isn't it? Maybe next year?
>>721056734>>721056716>>721056710Isnt this a general so it should be on /vg/
>>721056863fuck off faggot Does anyone have a backup of the docs before it was sabotaged?
>>721056710>When will the radio get updated? I'm seeing tracks from last yearI dunno but we only have like 3 or 4 finished tracks since it's early week 1. >Well this year is going great so farmeh, that's what the thread and backups are for. we got the anchor, just attach things to it and we'll be fine. use the history tab on the sheet if you need to.>>721056863sorry newfag, this is our 13th year of doing this and if you didn't already know that you should lurk moar.>>721056909you click the clock button and it has a full backup if you click the next one down the timeline.
>>721056734Anon... it's been in that official translation process for years now.One year ago it was 100% / 5%.Simple extrapolation suggests editing finishes 2029. So maybe full release 2030.
>>721057073I dunno if you can extrapolate that directly, could have just been a shit year for them for whatever reason. if it's 100% translated I imagine mangagamer kicking their ass to get it done... eventually...
Just want to apologize on behalf of the retard who made that stealth uma thread, hopefully that won't happen again. We're trying to stay in our own lane and out of the spotlight of the mods and that didn't help, so sorry about that.
>>721057254It's clearly the local schizo going off on another bender, he was getting quickly banned for spamming "HORSE COCK" in Uma threads so he's gone to other venues now.
would be nice to get a proper rollback instead of a copy paste because all the formatting is gone and a bunch of rows are missing
>>721058475I stand corrected its being patched in real time, ignore me
>already another weird al parody in the docsbeautiful.
>>721058516It's the best I can do without admin rights. But yeah, on my end it's still saving.
I am preparing an additional otter.
Some advice for people wanting to sing the Reset IP songyou can just get rid of "my" in the first two verses of the chorus and it'll match the syllables. Plus it still flows with the rest of the song.Reset IP nowDelete cookies nowPostin' on /v/ nowMake janny seethe nowIt always bugs me when I see a parody but the syllables are just slightly off.
>>721058734I will update the rentry with that
makes me worried that no one will listen to my song if there are so many
>>721058812I will listen to your song at least once. You have my word. A second time is the question.
>>721059026well, thanks Anon
singing my own songs, yes or no? on one hand, I like the idea of doing all of it and I have some experience singing and editing but on the other hand I feel like if no one else sings them its because theyre not that good. I know its still early so Im thinking about doing them now but waiting to see if someone else does any of them.
>>721059132you could always wait a week or two and then do it if nobody picks it up. no rush this early
>>721059132It's fine as long as you don't flood a bunch of them.
I would love to write a song for Joy to the World by Three Dog Night but I can't think of a solid topic, hmmm
>>721059132I say wait a bit
>>721059336Joy to the Con, and it's about Nintendo cease and desist ordering the Joycon cases that were being made as a memorial for Etika.
>>721044792Anon sorry if this sounds harsh but the lyrics are butchered and unusable. Just compare the syllables alone: 9 "Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked (oh there aint no rest for the wick-ed)6 Money don't grow on trees (mon-ey dont grow on trees)5 I got bills to pay (i got bills to pay)5 I got mouths to feed (i got mouths to feed)9 There ain't nothing in this world for free (there aint noth-ing in this world for free)6 I know I can't slow down (i know i cant slow down)4 I can't hold back (i cant hold back)7 Though you know, I wish I could (though you know i wish i could)10 Oh no there ain't no rest for the wicked (oh no there aint no rest for the wick-ed)8 Until we close our eyes for good (un-til we close our eyes for good)8 Oh there ain't no posts in this thread (oh there aint no posts in this thread)6 Not even emojis (not e-ven emojis)5 I got no response (i got no re-sponse)4 Not one reply (not one re-ply)8 Even though I asked sincerely (e-ven though i asked sin-cere-ly)6 You know I'll still lurk here (you know ill still lurk here)5 And hope someone comes (and hope some-one comes)7 Even though I know they won't (e-ven though i know they wont)9 Oh no there ain't no posts in this thread (oh no there aint no posts in this thread)7 Prolly gonna cut my throat (pro-lly gon-na cut my throat)Literally more than half the lines are incorrect, and this is the chorus, by far the easiest part of the song to parody because it's shorter lines, but also the most important to get right.I don't want to come across as a dick but I don't have that long to try and do takes while I have the house to myself. I can't record a track today because I spent too much the time I should have been doing that on something unsingable. I know this isn't AI or something because it does look like the rhyme scheme was actually attempted to be kept in places, but if you're gonna post something please at least sing along to it once to check if it's even possible.
boring Chicken Jockey song (draft) for DLC, was inspiredhttps://krakenfiles.com/view/fpnItXUcl5/file.html
>>721059714I haven't heard you in the musical before, but that's pretty good. Be a little more confident with how generously you use your voice; you'll regret it less later and be more satisfied with the result.
>>721059809midnight recording but yeah not bad advice. sorry
>>721059132You're right that step 1 is waiting. Literally half of all songs are sung in the last 3 days, it's normal not to get picked up right away. If there's a specific track or two you know you can do decently enough then it won't hurt. If you're going to sing, it would be nice to also pick a few songs you didn't write to sing as well. In the end it's a question you have to ask yourself because there's no rule against it. If you like doing 100% of it yourself, are you sure you even want to submit those to /v/tm instead of just making some tracks yourself any time of the year? If you're worried they're not good, is that feeling going to stay if you sing the songs? There's upsides and downsides on it, like we can't do repeat songs so any time someone puts something they're not even really proud of in there, it could still cuck another anon out of doing that song in the future. Personally my favorite part of this all is working together with people and being happy with the tracks knowing I'm never the only one that put work into them and is happy to hear them finished.
>>721059714glad to hear that voice again. good job.
considering trying my hand a singfagging but need a good mic. not too worried about price, and if I order one it'll arrive before the musical ends, but my computer doesn't have an xlr port (saw someone mention in a previous thread) so it's either usb or a 3.5mm audio jack. any hardware reccs at various price points? also using linux if compatible software is a pain point
>>721060181a dac with xlr input would do you well but those get expensive fast
>>721056710somewhat bad news for the web playerkrakenfiles site has been updated & it seems to no longer be possible to get the files programmaticallyunless we find (and use) another site to upload the songs, i don't think i'll be able to update the player this year
>>721059809That's the only singfag who's participated every year.>>721060181>>721060220An M-Track Solo is really all you need for a single mic. Though consider a UMC202 if you plan to use it outside the musical.
>>721060423I'll check it out thanks, might go with the UMC since I've been thinking about doing more voice recording stuff. what'd be a good mic to pair with each? is the dac more important, or still good to get quality as far as the mic goes
>>721060385rip. web player was fun but not fun enough to sweat over. after the scare with the 2 week downtime this year I'm just gonna be happy 4chan is still available in my country.
>>721060526DAC means Digital to Analog Converter. What you want is an audio interface (which contains both a DAC and ADC and mic preamp). The mic is far more important. The audio interface doesn't matter for quality, they're all very good post 2005 or so. The real difference is features and driver support (the UM2 and UM22 don't have Windows driver support anymore, UM202 and up do), which shouldn't matter for Linux.I haven't looked at mics in years but I remember the Behringer C-1 being decent for a good price. I know Woman's Turn was recorded with one of those.
>>721060385that fucking sucks cause i only kept up with the musical through it.
>>721060587Maybe we'll get lucky and the webplayer will be back inexplicably in the third week. And maybe I'll get lucky and someone will sing my fucking songs you fucks.
>>721060851NTA but sorry to hear it. it's probably not gonna be updated until the end of the musical, but https://the-voombox.xyz/ lets you listen to each finished album as a playlist. can always bookmark it and check back in a month and a half or so. Or you could subscribe to the Greene youtube channel, your subscription tab will be flooded when the new songs are uploaded so you can't miss them.>>721060987the singfags are heartless this year, I'm sacrificing otters to interdimensional portals but they won't budge. We might have to try.... asking nicely :(
>>721061106Alternative, we can check if there's any Indians in the thread, and then I can ask them to "Fuck my song you Singhs".
>>721061278meh I'd rather just stockpile otters. speaking of, I dropped one into the portal with a camera and it sent back this esoteric image from deep inside. otters must not be doing well in there.

>>721059659>the lyrics are butchered and unusable>if you're gonna post something please at least sing along to it once to check if it's even possiblethanks, I appreciate your attempt at critique, and I don't want to come across as a dick who can't take feedback, but you're not really saying anything substantial other than>I personally had problems singing thisok, fine, but I'm here to tell you that 1) the lyrics are fine, even though it's true that the syllables aren't perfectly 1:12) I wouldn't have submitted it without first checking to ensure that it was "singable" and so I did, in fact, already do what you suggested. multiple times.if it helps, later I will submit a demo so that you can better get the cadence and flow of the song. hopefully this isn't bait.
>>721075213You NEED syllables to be 1:1. This isn't negotiable. Just because you can force it doesn't make it good enough.

I was thinking about a song idea. I play Civ 5 at work to pass time, on Settler difficulty because I just want the fantasy of running a magic empire that can't be stopped. But I notice that the AIs I play again don't act like people would act if this happened in the real world. They continue to denounce you, refuse your (reasonable!) trade deals, and I even had the AI directly insult me (earning the "hostile" AI mood I hadn't even seen before) resulting in me taking everything he had.Any ideas on something like "You drove me to this?" Actually, I just had an idea:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tmd-ClpJxA
>>721085279https://youtu.be/39KmkmUcypsthat's exactly how i play Civ too, with feeble civs denouncing me and constantly refusing deals for ceasefires that would stop me from steamrolling them. so the idea is sound.

>>721085771yeah on Settler they keep demanding peace treaties at the slightest nudge. but will then literally denounce you five turns later so its like alright, into the fire you go.
>>721075154It varies. Sometimes I'm cracking open the book of grudges like for Diablo Immortal, other times I actually like games or art and want to celebrate them. A lot of it ends up on the cutting room floor though. In other news I'm still working on the Ozzy cover. Any Bloodborne easter eggs people want me to throw in?
We'll need a bunch of singers for that Family Guy parody.
Do you try to pick a song that somewhat fits the tone or mood of the game? Like imagine, a song about Cuphead but you're parodying a death metal song. I feel like that'd be dumb, but it's the only one that fits.

>>721090293Thanks, you too.
>>721089224Tone of the original vs the game can be used as a fun juxtaposition, like if it's death metal because you're tilted that's a fun avenue to go down. Don't force it if it doesn't seem like it fits though.
I see Kiwi's name on the sheet, are they really back or did someone just think it would be funny to put his name on the Uma song?
>>721091649there was never any actual evidence he retired other than a lack of activity, right?
>>721090293We are closer to 2013 than 2013 was to 2003
>>721091852I suppose not. I guess I'm just thinking that seeing his name show up for the first time on that specific song, after all the trolling, it seems way too perfect to be a coincidence. It feels like someone trolling so the song won't get picked.Or I'm just being a pessimist, either way I guess we'll wait and see.
>>721091902Can you do that math again?

>>721075213>1) the lyrics are fine, even though it's true that the syllables aren't perfectly 1:1the lyrics aren't fine. It's not about 1 line not being 1:1, it's about most of the song being completely off. It's irrelevant if you can force the new lyrics in the timespan of the old lyrics, it's no longer the same song if it doesn't follow the rhythm of:OHHHH, THERE. AIN'T. NO. REST. FOR-THA WICK-EDDDThis isn't freestyle rap, it's rhythmic music where the singer is an instrument and each syllable is a note to hit. The flow of the lyrics is just as critical as the flow of the instrumental. I can't force you to put in the bare minimum effort, but when anons say "sing my fucking songs" the reason so many go unsung is time wasters like this. I know there are plenty of good writers here that have songs worth singing, but I don't have time to check a hundred submissions a week and I'm wasting the time I do have on things that do. not. work. It's a shame because I love the song and was happily about to record it because I know it from memory and have sung the original countless times. I wasn't picky about the generic topic or lyrics that say nothing interesting, I was willing to sing it for the love of the music. If you have absolutely zero respect for the music and just want to steal the instrumental, that frankly pisses me off. If anyone else wants to parody Ain't No Rest For The Wicked and can actually respect the track, you have yourself a good singer waiting. I don't care what topic you choose honestly, if you can't think of one and want a simple connection then you can go for Borderlands because it has big drama right now and many people already associate the song with that IP.
>>721098341bro it's ok, you can just admit that you don't know how to enunciate like a native english speaker.
>>721098501You're not going to piss me off with bait this low effort. It's possible to make syllable stretches or cuts work in many tracks, especially in tracks that are more spoken than sung, but you can't have more than half of the track just be completely wrong for a song where the singer's cadence and flow is the most memorable thing about the track. Bait doesn't change this fact.
>>721098947ok retard, if you think you can do better, then do it. let's see your amazing writing skills at play, and then I'll sing your dogshit song in return for you singing mine. deal?
>>721099047I'm not here for a pissing contest, I was trying to genuinely help a track that is never going to live up to the fantastic song it took an instrumental from because it doesn't fit the rhythm of the track.People wonder why the musical loses so many members and doesn't gain fresh blood and then they treat anyone trying to actually help like shit for the lulz. If you just wanted to say "I can't be bothered to count syllables" you can just say that.
>>721099416and there it is. it easy to talk shit when you're not on the chopping block. put up or shut up. if you don't like the song, then don't sing it. like I said, I'll sing it myself. unless you think you can do better, that is. and look, I'm a reasonable guy, if you pull gold out of your ass, then I'll acknowledge it.otherwise, if you think it needs to be reworked, then fucking rework it. pick a different topic, find replacement words so that your precious syllables fit, and the song flows better. what are you doing besides complaining, exactly? and who else is complaining but you, exactly? show me an example of a song that you like. show me an example of a song that was well received and that you wrote, with proof that can somehow verify that you wrote it. you can't.anyway this is the last response you're gonna get out of me, unless your next post is actually constructive, or an outright better rendition of the song.
this "fuck you won't do what you tell me" bullshit is absolutely infuriating and I wish people had less autism.
>>721098341Could you give some advice for songs who use instrumentals from non english songs? I had some trouble matching syllables on mine because when they use an english word the pronounciation is very different from what we're used to. Should I go more on sound?
>>721099416Deliver a better rendition of the song.>>721099947Deliver a good demo of your lyrics and prove that's it works despite the lack of syllables. There, I solved everything.
>>721100059Gotta balance the apathy of posting into the void with something. >>721100339NTA but the difficulty with foreign tracks is getting those moments to work. I've entirely replaced existing rhyming schemes in the past with different ones to hit pacing & syllable counts but it makes it way harder to find someone to sing it. Sometimes you just have to scrap something if you're not finding ways to make it flow though.
>>721100590>Sometimes you just have to scrap something if you're not finding ways to make it flow though.I've listened to it so many times that I'm used to singing it now, but I don't know if it flows well to others.
>>721098341>If anyone else wants to parody Ain't No Rest For The Wicked and can actually respect the track, you have yourself a good singer waiting. And I thought Jebus was arrogant.
>>721099947I was already constructive. The syllables are wrong and it's a rhythmic song where each syllable is part of the music. Matt Shultz doesn't just say the words, he uses his voice as an instrument. I could identify the tempo and rhythm of "ohhhh, there. ain't. no. rest. for-tha wick-eddd" instantly no matter the context, it's an iconic rhythm, and if you're cutting parts out of it then it will not be the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxY8zSTci7kIt's like this. You can tell it's Megalovania from the sound font, but it's no longer the same track if the beats are not all there. In this case, the beats aren't all there, extra beats have to be fit in somewhere, and the stresses are going to be all over the place as well.>>721100339It's difficult, I can't lie to you, and I tend not to touch most foreign tracks for that exact reason. You should be going by syllables and stresses by ear as closely as you can if you want it to sound right. It's tedious work and personally it would be very time consuming because my process would be mapping out the syllables and stresses on sheet music and then writing new lyrics following that sheet music. For a more casual setting like /v/tm absolutely nobody is expecting perfection and the most important thing is to have fun, and the best advice I can give is to genuinely listen to the track and just try your best at giving it new lyrics that allow a singer to match the flow of the original in as many spots as possible. >>721100479>Deliver a better rendition of the song.Like I've said several times I'm not here for a pissing contest, and I'm not here as a writer but as a singer. I don't write that often for /v/tm because I have standards a hundred times higher on myself than I would on anyone else here. I have deep respect for music, and this track is one well worthy of respect personally. It would be a disservice to the song to rush something out of spite.
>>721101604Could just ask Anonika to shit on his song again and vote him in the DB. Problem solved.
>>721098341>>721101604Anon I think you’re just extremely autisticAnd I know that’s pointing out a fork in a kitchen, but like, you are very autistic.
>>721101689You're misunderstanding where I'm coming from. I don't dislike the writer and I was seriously hoping to sing the song, this entire drama is because I told the writer that the syllables are off and I wanted to sing it when it's corrected.I have respect for the song and I want the parody to be good. I'd rather it just go unsung so in a future year the song has the potential to be done justice if it's not going to be fixed and nobody else has passion for the track this year.
>>721101604Thanks, i'll do another pass on it to make sure.
>>721101948We're on 4chan, in what is honestly one of the biggest autism magnet threads imaginable. Nobody remembering we exist and showing up here year after year is fully autism free. If anything I'm surprised so few people here seem to actually have autism over music, I was genuinely expecting the reply to "I want to sing this but the syllables are off here, I've provided exact syllable counts for the chorus and this is how you fix it" to be "thanks, here's some adjustments, can't wait to here you sing it!".
>>721101948Nah, I agree with that autist. We've completely ignored lyrics for songs that people love in the past because the syllables were dogshit. If you're the only one who can work out the cadence of your lyrics that's what vocal references are for. It's also tradition to use sheer autistic force of will over the next month to drum up competitor lyrics if you don't like the ones on offer though.
>>721101604Ignore the haters, King, I agree with you.Though for more practical reasons. I don't care if the rhythm is completely different but good luck communicating that through a text document. Demos are a perfect solution but most don't provide those.Even minor divergences from the original song can be interpreted differently by the writer and singer, and often those clashes are obvious in the final song. Or maybe you get lucky and it's fine but it is up to luck; if the lyrics were written to perfectly overlay the original there's no room for misfortune to take it.
>>7211016041. you called the topic generic and the lyrics uninteresting. so if you can't, at the very least, give me an idea for what sort of topic you think would be more fitting for this song, then I'm just going to disregard this critique, because it's not substantive. there's no substance. you're saying nothing. critique isn't just complaining, you need to provide meaningful feedback.2. yes, the syllables in some lines are sometimes shorter or sometimes longer, but in the end it doesn't make that much of a difference, and I will fucking record it to prove the point.3. you're taking this shit way too seriously. go look at the previous albums, they're all filled with myriad of problems, everything from choppy audio to having lyrics mismatched with a song's tempo, etc.don't forget that this is supposed to be a FUN group activity where we all make OC. that's the fucking point. that, and maybe talking shit about the state of the video game industry. it doesn't have to meet anyone's standards, it just has to be decent enough. period. generally, your audio should be clean, your words should be intelligible (but not even that is an issue when we have lyrics superimposed on the screen), and you should try to stay in time. everything else is so much kerffule. and no, I'm not advocating for being lazy, either. make quality songs, sure, but if there's a blemish here or there, fuckin' cry about it. nobody cares.
>>721102445The worst part is I've gladly sung songs with off syllables before, there are places where breaking syllable count is absolutely fine. The main chorus of an incredibly catchy song where the flow is the entire reason the song is memorable is not the place to break syllables.now I feel like I can't even sing a song I love if it gets corrected or a new lyric sheet because people will associate my voice with drama shit and I've avoided being in the spotlight often. feels bad man.
>>721102510NTA but there's a difference between providing meaningful feedback (it's bad for this and this reason) and fixing the lyrics for you.>go look at the previous albums, they're all filled with myriad of problems, everything from choppy audio to having lyrics mismatched with a song's tempo, etc.Go look at previous threads, they've always been shat on unless they've gone completely unnoticed.
>>721102316See, that’s the problem. He’s saying>these syllables are off because…they’re offBut also actively refusing to fix the lyrics himself or even offer SUGGESTIONS.Now the other Anon isn’t completely innocent here, he’s clearly getting mad that his song was “rejected” instead of just moving on. But to assume this Anon is acting in good faith is a stretch.
>>721101604I agree with you, his lyrics are not good, I tried singing it and it was hard and it didn't go well with the song but man are you autistic. Not in a bad way or anything, but you're reacting to a guy simply writing a bad no rest for the wicked parody like he just burned the mona lisa, it's hilarious
>>721102623i don't think anyone here can associate your voice with this post, unless you had your name down on the spread sheet, in which case, i doubt that many people saw it and will rememberso dont worry, also your criticism is valid lol
>>721101994To be fair, nobody would sing those lyrics anyway if you didn't start this entire drama. And if you seriously want to improve a song, you have to suggest better structured or more interesting lines, because a good idea can massively benefit from the fresh perspective of a different person. Which you never do, from my understanding.
Has there ever been a /v/tm song that's a rap battle? There's some good potential there.
>>721102510>1. you called the topic generic and the lyrics uninterestingThat was after you freaked out at me for pointing out the syllables are wrong in most lines. And I still said I was willing to sing it despite that, most of the songs here have generic topics and lyrics.> critique isn't just complaining, you need to provide meaningful feedback.Honestly it sounds like you just don't understand music at all. If you think syllables and stresses are not only a non-factor but so irrelevant that it's not meaningful to mention them, then I can't help you more. >2. yes, the syllables in some lines are sometimes shorter or sometimes longer, but in the end it doesn't make that much of a differenceIt makes a massive difference, it's no longer the same song. And not in a "one line is off" way, in a "the entire song is off" way.> and I will fucking record it to prove the point.Being able to force completely different rhythms into the space of the original rhythm doesn't prove anything. I am not disputing that you can bruteforce it, I am telling you for a fact that if the syllables are wrong in the majority of lines that it will not work as a parody of the original track. >don't forget that this is supposed to be a FUN group activity where we all make OC.I haven't, but it's possible to have fun and put in bare minimum effort at the same time. Anonika isn't an amazing singer but he puts in at least a little effort. I would call that lyric list below the effort level of Anonika without a doubt if you are seriously sitting there and saying you do not think it is worth the time for the hook of the song to match the hook of the original.>but if there's a blemish here or there, fuckin' cry about it. nobody cares.we're not talking about a blemish, we're talking about an entire track of incorrect flow. I have sung well over a dozen tracks with a syllable or two off in random verse lines without even mentioning it, this is not that.
>>721103250Yes, two have been done in the past, you can check the meta list
>>721103185My issue is that I love this specific song and was ready to sing it as soon as I saw a parody of it on the sheet. I have a feeling whoever ends up singing it is going to get dogpiled on assuming they are me now.
h-hey guys if any of you want to sing my song but you're not sure about how to fit my lyrics into the instrumental p-please just ask me, I dont mind recording a demo...
I love you niggers all the same
Would somebody just hurry up and record themselves singing the fucking lyrics to this goddamn parody so we can settle this gay shit
haven't heard the original song, haven't looked at the lyrics here either but generally it's a bit sad to see someone trying to make a collaboration work and the other party not having it. would help a lot if either of you did a demo to show where it's working or not working. and you can't expect us singfags to have overarching lyrical fixes in mind, that's a skill we rely on writefriends for.
>>721103383don't worry man, no one besides the writer will remember this tomorrow
>>721102829>But also actively refusing to fix the lyrics himself or even offer SUGGESTIONS.The writer didn't ask for them to be fixed or ask for suggestions, they said "the lyrics are fine" despite the syllables being completely off.
>>721102828>NTA but there's a difference between providing meaningful feedback (it's bad for this and this reason) and fixing the lyrics for youStratholme turned into a masterpiece because one anon came up with a fantastic idea, and the others fixed the lyrics for him instead of providing "meaningful feedback" that doesn't actually improve anything. In this particular case we're not talking about a fantastic idea, but I think you get the point.
>>721102829>these syllables are off because…they’re offI'm going to be real with you, you shouldn't need someone to explain what "the syllables are off" means. It's basic addition, either the number of syllables is correct are they are not. The post even went out of the way to count the number of syllables in every line to prove they were off, so I have no clue what your point even is here.>But also actively refusing to fix the lyrics himself or even offer SUGGESTIONS.When did someone ask them for suggestions? I don't see any posts actively refusing to help.
>>721103383I was thinking of either pretending to be you and doing a terrible job at singing it or writing an even worse version so I can rustle your jimmies. For what it's worth, I think the topic isn't that bad, I like it and I've experienced it a couple times just today. I also think many of the sentences could be easily fixed or at least improved>looking at the price the bundle's kinda high>but then I looked at the price the bundle's kinda highnot perfect but better I think and most of the song could be fixed just rewording it a bit or adding simple words>not one reply>not even one replyand it also fits better, right? I know the next sentence starts with "even" too but I dont think its that big a deal
>>721103749Not every singfag is here to write the songs too. It should not be taboo for a singfag to say "I want to sing this but the syllables don't work and there's no demo so here's a heads up that you should fix this if you want it sung and to turn out good".
>>721104208yes both of those are significantly better than the lines originally there.
Anonika, please watch the tutorial in the OP, specifically part 2 on how to record audio properly. Your take for Today is the Day I Live sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom.
>>721104208>>not perfect but better I think and most of the song could be fixed just rewording it a bit or adding simple wordsthat's literally what the problem is. the singfag said the syllables are off so it needs rewordings and adding/removing simple words, and the writefag said they are god's gift to the musical and the lyrics are already perfect so they will not be changed.
>>721104306personally i like that better than everyone ignoring clunky lyrics for a few weeks until the writefags start posting doom and gloom because noone seems to care about their fucking songs, only to then have it pointed out and go "aw shit too late now, wish someone woulda told me"
>>721104624it's lose-lose really. the writefag just has a massive ego here and can't accept that the song would be better if they took 5 minutes to adjust the lyrics so the syllables were the same as the original.
>>721103937>The post even went out of the way to count the number of syllables in every line to prove they were offSeveral of them had the same number of syllables and the others were one less where a single syllable is stretched out or left off while still being close enough to the beat to make it work. In those cases, it’s easy to see where the original song fit in two syllables at a time within the beats, which is perfectly okay but also okay to adjust 99% of the time. I would hardly call that “unusable”. I think maybe one or two lines coulda been reworded slightly.Again I’m not going to vouch for the writefag seeing as he chose to say “the lyrics are fine” instead of at least looking at them and evaluating and maybe asking if the singfag would prefer this or that. But the autistic singfag clearly overreacted, so of course an autistic writefag is going to begin to react in turn.
>>721104742And the singfag has a massive autism and can't ignore mediocre lyrics that nobody would sing.
It's not just about syllable count, but also word stresses. Ain't No Rest For The Wicked is a very rhythmic song with intentional stresses, a parody that changes the stresses is like putting the emPHAsis on the wrong syllAble.
https://vocaroo.com/1eDo78TPGFrjhere's your demo. probably won't satisfy the sperglord but whatever. the point is that it fits.
>>721104994I think “And hope someone comes” was the only line in that refrain that actually had the emphasis be too different to reconcile, while “Prolly gonna cut my throat” was awkward in that if you actually stretched it back out to “probably” to match the syllables it might not work well enough. I’ve heard the song, and the rest of the lyrics can still flow in that same pattern.
the spreadsheet seems to be protected now, so I'll just post here.finished vocals and attempt at a mix for Greenvale (Lukenbach, Texas). if someone could add it to the sheet, I'd preshiate it.>MIXhttps://krakenfiles.com/view/mZlZlztH9F/file.html>LYRICShttps://pastebin.com/4VKSnt8g>RAW VOCALShttps://krakenfiles.com/view/XuGwY2OmW4/file.html>ALL FILEShttps://krakenfiles.com/view/o9mjIQkz3J/file.html
>>721105552You proved their point, that is just plain bad. You took a song with very good rhythm and intentionally places stresses and turned it into a mess where words are randomly stretched or rushed with no rhyme or reason.
>>721105740nah, it fits.
>>721105552You're really choosing to die on that hill, huh? You can straight up hear which lines are wrong because the words don't sound right at all in them.
>>721105942which lines exactly? got any suggestions on how to improve them?
Not anyone involved in this autism but if it helps settle it, here's an alternate parody for the song>>721056357Ain't No Quest For A Wizard (Ain't No Rest For The Wicked - Cage The Elephant)Lyrics: https://rentry.org/6gq625mcSong: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Z0sON2UPcInstrumental: Couldn't find a good oneNormally I try to sing my songs fully a few times to verify they work but this song in particular is a little fast for an amateur singer like me so it was hard. I can do individual lines but stringing them together is tough. I think all the syllables hit correctly, if there's any pain points let me know.
I don't know the original beyond a cursory listen and am not particularly attached to it but I don't think the flow is that bad
>>721106007You already said you're god's gift to the musical and everything you do is perfect, I'm frankly not going to waste my breathe when you're not going to fix it.
>>721106102nah that's not what I said. I said the lyrics fit the song. as I type this, someone else wrote another song. post a demo of that, then. let's see how much better it is. and again, I'm reasonable, if it's better, then it's better.
>>721101604>>721102067Alright, thanks again, i noticed some parts didn't do the stresses properly so I'm fixing it. It fucking sucks however, that japanese has no words that end in consonants (n doesn't count), meaning i have to limit myself to words that end in vowels for those parts
>>721077720IMPOSTERThanks for that, 11 hour shifts are not very conducive to making my own yellan posts. Since I don't reply to my own posts, a rare opportunityI'm WRITAN: A parody of AJR's "Inirtia" but it's about games with really good and fun movement mechanics with an emphasis on momentum, and questioning why so many modern games can't seem to get it right. A parody of Lemon Demon's "When He Died" that's about "Heavy is Dead" And that's about it right now. Hopefully more inspiration hits me over the weekend since I've been kind of brick-walled by these songs for a bit now.
>>7211060659 "Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked (oh there aint no rest for the wick-ed)6 Money don't grow on trees (mon-ey dont grow on trees)5 I got bills to pay (i got bills to pay)5 I got mouths to feed (i got mouths to feed)9 There ain't nothing in this world for free (there aint noth-ing in this world for free)6 I know I can't slow down (i know i cant slow down)4 I can't hold back (i cant hold back)7 Though you know, I wish I could (though you know i wish i could)10 Oh no there ain't no rest for the wicked (oh no there aint no rest for the wick-ed)8 Until we close our eyes for good (un-til we close our eyes for good)9 "Oh there ain't no quest for you wizard (oh there aint no quest for you wiz-ard)6 Only fetch jobs for thee (on-ly fetch jobs for thee)5 I got mobs to slay (i got mobs to slay)5 collect drops for me (col-lect drops for me)9 No dragons or castles here for ye (no drag-ons or cas-tles here for ye)6 Oh no, I won't give you, (oh no i wont give you)4 a better job (a bet-ter job)7 Though I know, you wish I could (though i know you wish i could)9 Oh there ain't no quest for you wizard (oh there aint no quest for you wiz-ard)8 How 'bout you go get me some wood?" (how bout you go get me some wood)Quite good at a glance anon, it looks like you dropped a "no" in the 2nd to last line but that's easy to slot back in. There are some spots where the stresses are iffy due to the order of words like:>there aaainnt noth-ing in this wooorld for freeeeto >no draaa gons-or ca stles heeere for yeeeebut they're much rarer than in the other track, and for that I say good job.
>>721106083it depends on what you want out of a parody really. if you just want to take someone's instrumental and freestyle over it, that track is okish, you can hear a lot of points where the singer is rushing the fuck out of words unnaturally or is stretching words that shouldn't have extra emphasis, but overall it's fine.if you want an actual parody of the original that matches it, it's a hot mess. it doesn't line up well. I'd compare it to when Anonika sings something complex. the thing just does not fit with the original and it loses a lot of the artistic composition that made the original a beloved song in the first place.
>>721106616>dropped a "no"I knew something sounded off. Blame the site I pasted the base lyrics from for not including it. Added it to the rentry
>>721106065>Instrumental: Couldn't find a good oneThis pisses me off because I found a good one for this like eight months ago when I listened to a mashup that had a better instrumental than the original song.It wasn't UVR, it was some hand-crafted one that was really 10/10, uploaded years ago, like a hundred thousand views on youtube.I genuinely think it must have been taken down in the last few months. I'm mad. Maybe I'll try finding the guy who used it and asking if he still has the file.
>>721106927Admittedly I didn't look THAT hard for one, so it might still be up.
I was browsing threads on /v/And on the seventh page I seeSome thread with people writing videogame songsI thought that sounds kind of funI'm sure I'll get it doneHow hard could this whole thing be?I know my topic is goodThe lyrics will be tooAnons will love it, this's gonna be funSo after finishing my songIt was time to click "post"Got just one (you)from some autistic dudeit said "the lyrics cannot be usedbutchered and lame toothats such a great songthat I want-ed to singNot even trying to be a diickbut it fucking sucksand thats the truthgo ahead and fix them, dude'cause Im a really amazing singerand it could be reaally good
>>721105552you're a significantly better singer than you are a writer, but you're still not a great singer.
>>721107373thanks I guess. but they lyrics more or less fit, right? this dude sperging about it is stirring shit over what amounts to nothing, right?
>>721107008Nah, I've been looking myself.I did find proof I'm not crazy — some chump did a hack-job to stitch the start of the music video onto the good instrumental and that survived.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eydCZZbhzEEObviously that opening is disgusting with a really obvious seam, but you can hear the quality instrumental after it.
>>721106183"The lyrics can fit in the space" and "the lyrics fit the song" are not equivalent statements. You proved the first, not the second.
>>721106927Well we could still make one with UVR
>>721105613Writer here. I love it, anon, thanks for singing it. I have to say you fit some of the lyrics way better than me when I was writing them.
>>721105552gotta give it to you, anon. its not half bad.
>>721107579Sure. But I already found a few surviving ones that used that, and they had a bad case of that hollowness UVR can get.Admittedly those were uploaded two years ago and maybe you can get better jobs done now, but that's why I'm not betting on it.
>>721107435You "fit" the lyrics into the amount of time you have for each line, but by no means at all did you actually fit them to the original song's rhythm properly. Without a single doubt it would sound MUCH better if you swallowed your pride and adjusted the lyrics by adding or dropping words so you didn't have to do bad sounding syllable stretches in half of the lines and bad sounding rushing through too many syllables in other lines. To quote Weird Al: https://www.vulture.com/2017/03/weird-al-on-word-crimes-his-blurred-lines-parody.html>How important is trying to match syllables? >Pretty important. I hear a lot of amateur-ish parody writers that try to jam too many syllables into a line or not enough and — this is a big pet peeve — they don’t get the accents right. There’s a meter to every line and if you get the accent on the wrong syllable, it doesn’t flow that well.
>>721107435he's right, but he's also autistic. Many such cases.
>>721107435I'd stick to singing if you genuinely can't tell why it would sound better if the syllables matched the original. I'd think it was cool if you sang one of my written songs, but I would cringe listening to a good singer trying to stumble their way through a song with a lyric sheet that off. Genuinely the Anonika of writefags.
>>721106065That's actually a really fun parody. Something I would enjoy singing, if I was a singfag.Singfags, pay attention to this one.
>>721105552I'd give it 6/10 overall, and most of that comes from you surprisingly having a nice voice. It could be an 8/10 if the lyrics weren't so clumsy and a 9/10 if the lyrics were good.
>>721108296>the Anonika of writefagsWRITONIKA
>>721107220Pretty good, this is now our obligatory meta song of the year.

>>721105552FunnyIm drunk btw so im honest
Alright niggas I bought a 10 dollar mic
>>721107435I have to agree with the other anon about the Anonika thing. This is basically like if someone told Anonika he couldn't sing so he uploaded Controller and said "See, I proved I can sing!".Yeah, Anonika can sing.Yeah, you can write lyrics. We don't qualityfag. If you want this on the album, more power to you, but this is for writefags what Controller is for singfags. If you sang the Wizard >>721106065 song I guarantee you that the end result would be the writefag equivalent of swapping a singfag from Anonika to Kiwi.
>>721108884It's not that it isn't good, it's that it could have been great but it was intentionally kept worse than it should have been out of spite. It would be trivially easy to improve it so much, so it kinda sucks to see the "my first try was perfection, if you don't like the syllables all being wrong then fuck you" angle.
>>721109358>it could have been great but it was intentionally kept worse than it should have been out of spitebro if you don't like the lyrics then change them. I said that already. I always say that on every song I write. I'm not hoarding the lyrics like they're some precious thing. the initial criticism was that they didn't fit because of the syllables, and I think I proved otherwise. I'm not keeping anything out of spite, and in fact I don't care if you don't like the song or not. like I said before, sing it or don't. now, someone else wrote an alternative, so maybe you'll be happy with that.like god damn, I don't understand the problem here. you wanted me to rework the song how many times before you were satisfied with it? wouldn't it make more sense for you to have actually provided feedback? like actual suggestions for lines that could be replaced? assuming you're the dude who offered his feedback in the first place.you sound like a goddamn special snowflake, you know that?
gotta say, as someone who is new to this, the namefagging is a huge turn-off. I don't really care about your dumb little cliques and feuds and dick-measuring contests. I just want to make some fun and funny songs with other ANONS
>>721109703>the initial criticism was that they didn't fit because of the syllables, and I think I proved otherwiseYou proved you don't understand syllables, meter, or flow.I dare you to sing the wizard version. It will be night and day instantly when you can hear them side by side with the same singer.
>>721109703>like god damn, I don't understand the problem here. you wanted me to rework the song how many times before you were satisfied with it?Just for reference, how many times did you rework it? Oh, 0, because as soon as they said the syllables were off you threw a tantrum and said you wouldn't change a thing? Ok, just making sure.>you sound like a goddamn special snowflake, you know that?Do you happen to own any mirrors?
>>721092161uma will get done no matter what, it's on my list

>>721109807I glanced at it and already I saw that it had similar problems. I'd have to do the work to rewrite some of those lines myself, which is what you should have done if you weren't satisfied with them. you sound more to me like someone who thinks his opinion is the word of fucking god and all of us peons should drop what we're doing to satisfy your expectations. this is a collaborative effort, fucking collab.>>721109883I did no such thing, I legitimately saw no worthwhile feedback and disregarded it as a shit stirrer/trollpost. honestly this is all my fault because the more I speak to you fuckers the more convinced I am that I took the bait.
>>721106927Ended up asking the guy who used it and got the instrumental he used>Ain't No Rest For the Wicked (Instrumental)>https://krakenfiles.com/view/qvT2P42XJv/file.htmlI think it's better than any of the other ones I could find but I've finished burning up my energy on this.
>>721089224>a song about Cuphead but you're parodying a death metal songtbf making deals with the devil is pretty metal, would be pretty funny if it works imo
>>721109703>bro if you don't like the lyrics then change them.someone already wrote a vastly superior version about wizards.>the initial criticism was that they didn't fit because of the syllables, and I think I proved otherwise.this is like Anonika "proving he can nail the timing of a song" by uploading Controller. just because you uploaded something doesn't mean it proves what you think it does.>I'm not keeping anything out of spiteyou very clearly are, I think we're both aware it would sound better if you fixed the syllables.>you wanted me to rework the song how many times before you were satisfied with it?you didn't rework a single line, what is this schizo babble?>wouldn't it make more sense for you to have actually provided feedback? like actual suggestions for lines that could be replaced?NTA but they provided an entire breakdown of the chorus including every single line in the chorus that you could improve, with exact feedback on how many syllables you should add or remove from each one. you do know what a syllable is, don't you?>you sound like a goddamn special snowflake, you know that?irony

>>721109703LYRICNIKA
>>721109984>I glanced at it and already I saw that it had similar problemsyou really need some self awareness if you think this. your chorus has the majority of the lines with incorrect syllables, the wizard one had a single line with a single dropped word that was fixed instantly when that was pointed out.what happened to you pretending you would be graceful if someone made something better? because they did, by a verifiable metric, and you're just dragging them through the shit for it.

>>721111252Okay, took a quick stab at it. Still dying from a chest infection so i only got as far as the verse and chorus before my throat gave out.https://vocaroo.com/13rrBOlscejsAll opinions welcome, if you like it i will give it a proper go once i'm better, that is if no one else does it.
Alright anons time to brainstorm ideas for a song ok? Mainly because I want to sing itA Little Priest - Sweeney Toddhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1i3xhD7T-cAny ideas what could be the central theme of the 2 characters bouncing ideas between each other?I thought different aspects of adding diversity to the games, black, brown, gay, dyke, chopped tits, vitiligo? dunno that's the first topic that came to mind

>>721117417Would making a song about Freeman's Mind, Ross Scott (leader of Stop killin games)'s machinima series be /v/ enough? I wasn't on 4chan during peak FM, dunno if it was discussed some/at all.
>>721117582Freeman's Mind was behind Stop Killing Games???
>>721117219it's a really long song, and "diversity" has kinda been done to death as a theme while not even really being that vidya related. plus believe it or not the theater kid type that more than a few singfags come from, you know the type that already likes sweeney todd and can sing it by heart, has a lot of minority and lgbt presence...It's not any more unique, but it could so easily be a song about a gamer trying to convince a non-gamer/someone burnt out to try and like a variety of different games. You could fill it with references to all kinds of different game genres instead of types of people, so it shouldn't be too hard to fill a long lyric sheet and you could work in lots of clever little references and fresh jokes if you wanted.

>>721111436Year 10 was worse because that was when SuperSounds dropped his expose video of roco.Jebus came back and was fucking everything up thinking he could be allowed back in because roco was gone, but he was rightfully banned again that year.He even went into IRC and would talk himself in third person saying how "Jebus is a great singer, bring him back", it was all cringey.
>>721118735armanon said he can't do much this year which is a shame but understandable, guy works hard when he's here and I look forward to hopefully hearing him next year.

>>721118861Wow I am unfortunately relegated to just lurking every now and then but thank you for those words. I had so much fun especially with last year doing something new in taking and then compiling together a song with another singer and seeing it through in jusplaywhachunna and I think it did come out okay and was well received. I was gonna be thinking bigger this year and try to push more for musical songs with multiple parts and again take lead on gathering those parts(singing some too of course) and compiling it putting it all together hoping to improve on what I learned last year. But well, I'll just hopefully wait till next year for that. Reaper shouldn't be going anywhere and I'll have to remind myself to do refresher lessons every now and then. Also I got to go see Les Miserable in December. Holy shit it was just utterly amazing God it was so goodFor now I'll keep cheering people on here and the other thing that I have found myself helping, bumping the thread when it's on page 9/10. I got a lot of experience doing that in Arma threads ;_;

>>721120125sad to hear you're missing out, lousy timing i guess. you did crank out lyrics like a madman before so if inspiration strikes one evening and it's a fit for Sabaton that's all but guaranteed to get sung. hell, maybe you'll even find a tiny slot somewhere for a chorus take. don't sweat it tho, no need to force anything if there's more important shit to deal with. i'm pretty much booked up myself for another week until october.

And he has done nothing relevant since.

>>721121485I don't think I could pull the growling either (i did try some practice recently that kinda increased my confidence but I doubt it'd pan out for a song) but it'd be a cool song to do, can't think of a subject matter off the top of my head though

>>721121652Is it supposed to be this one?https://krakenfiles.com/view/cpaJr60nWG/file.html
>>721120712probably? the way my collection works is I basically start with all the tracks and use them as a playlist for gaming, working out, cleaning the house, whatever I want background music for. if a song accumulates enough skips I just take it out of the regular playlist, which doesn't necessarily mean the track is bad but it could just not vibe with me or not be fitting for background noise, or it could even be something personal like singing the original song sometimes irl and not wanting to accidentally scream nigger in front of irl friends on accident one day. I haven't actually had any big purges recently for XII, when the collection grows after I add in XIII it's likely a bunch of these get cut, but pic rel is everything that survived almost 1 year without a cut.favorites is tricky, because I like so many of them, but at a quick glance through the list I can start with: Nintendo, The Ten Million Relief Plan, Sweet Cunny, Gnosis, Late-Night Satellite, Every Anon is a Faggot, All The Lolis, My Feed And Seed, Jusplaywha Chuwanna, 1999, Lifestyles of Bethesda Employees, Homo Negro Vidya Slop, Joystick, Trailer Gamedev Boycott
