I unlocked the fist weapons around lvl 4 or 5 and they are god tier especially if you keep them upgraded to your current level.

I've leveled up to 8, and although the machete type weapons are solid vs most regular zombs, we got some armored fuckers we gotta contend with - and you will need a MACE or HAMMER to deal any real damage.

You get a flashlight with infinite regular flashlight duration but limited UV burst duration as a gadget. It makes the zombies recoil a bit.
Also basically every safe zone you unlock you have to turn on the UV lights to shine at all the entrances.

I have not yet seen useable flares, but I ran across a military wreck random spawn (same icon as survivor) where 4 white flares were popped around a flipped humvee and you could go kill some specials and loot it. I also saw a survivor in the woods who was injured and shot a flaregun into the sky, producing white smoke. He needed a bandage and he gave me a rare frag grenade for saving him.

Yes, at first, the lack of stamina will be annoying as hell, especially on the first bosses. But then it will become much more interesting.
In DL1, the maximum difficulty meant that you would simply die from a single blow, but here it is done much better.

Depends. It's basically dying light 2 but everything's been fixed/improved/removed for better shit. It's roughly 20 hours compared to DL2 being... 30ish? So if you don't want to spend full price for a relatively shorter game I would say wait for a sale. Even in the 40-50 dollar range it's well worth the money.

This feels pretty awful. I couldnt even kill a volatile that I singled out and spent 20 minutes fighting. I just had to quit and reload after all my weapons broke and no ammo or resources to craft.

If I could change one thing about combat, It would be that beast mode was far easier to build and use. Its not strong enough to be a fix all instant win, so it should be frequently usable. Every time I kill a chimera and get a beast ability, I sigh knowing I wont even use it.

On brutal I am using just about every craftable item I can create to take down tanks. I think one epic rarity molly is 1/10th of a tanks hp.

One thing about grabs that only DL1 did right was the fact that when a zombie was about to grab you, the player would be stuck in the anymation, unless he was already swinging, wich would happen 90% of the time. If the hit connected to the zombie, it would flinch and you had time to atack again or move alway. This is something that's missing in both DL2 and The Beast. Just going back to how it was would fix the annoying grabs in this game.

You can, but sometimes you dont get them back. It must be an RNG thing or something. I killed a fat guy and got 3 arrows from his body. The first few arrows I fired I headshot the zombies and got them back. Any missed shots also you can find in the wall. But then I played for a long ass time and used a bow again around lvl 8 and most of my killing shots, I got no arrow back when I searched the body. So idk why that is.

There's lore reason for that. The ground was sprayed with chemicals by the GRE killing off any vegetation growth so some trees starting growing on roofs.
