I also think that it sets up some really good mysteries. The Digital World is interesting conceptually but kind of boring and empty in execution. There's a reverse Dante's Inferno style to it, but it doesn't mean much. The characters all grow in completely appropriate ways, no real issues, it's solid, but it doesn't feel the same as Adventure or 02 which had tons of background elements written out that we still don't fully understand. There's just so much more to discuss. Even 02, as messy as it is with Kakudou trying to fit the movies in and sometimes a lack of writer cohesion (an issue I feel can be explained as "too many cooks"), it still manages to be fascinating and worth discussing its characters. I can talk about Takato, Ruki, or Jian, but it's more or less summarizing rather than trying to understand what makes them who they are, because everything is clearly conveyed in Tamers.Frontier's main issue is that it has a premise and runs with that premise for 39 episodes before moving onto a different premise, but I think it's very overlooked.

It's good if you like Ruki, but it's personally not in my top five.The sixth movie (the Frontier movie) is the weakest of the original run. The big CG climax is overdone, it feels like filler, there are major logistical issues, it's eh.X-evolution (CG TV movie) is kind of long and incoherent even if you have all the X-Antibody background info. What a bizarre movie.The Savers movie feels like a filler episode that can't happen but it looks good visually which is more than I can say for the TV anime. It's whatever.Kizuna became my third favorite Digimon movie after seeing it, and I need to rewatch the recent 02 movie. I liked it, but it was definitely a 02 movie.
