Honestly it's not even an issue of woke. The characters could be as diverse as they want and I wouldn't care. The issue is that they're fucking hideous. This game has some of the ugliest characters I've ever seen in a video game. The only ok looking character is the protagonist.

The game is generally good, but the ending drops the ball a bit.

Yes, this. I waited for the real release and was initially baffled by how much it gatekeeps progression, even worse than 1, but it's a model that actually works extremely well when you are EA and trying to string players along.

It is okay. I still feel it has visual clarity issues, just like 1, and bosses are bloated, just like 1. That's the biggest gatekeep honestly-- your damage gets a huge buff via progression and suddenly a boss that took forever is doable in a third or less of the time. Consistently.

Before the classical era the figures where painted on the vase with black slip while leaving the background the natural, red color. So during burning the figures were left black to be edited for more details.
After around 500 BC the method changed so the background was painted with the black slip thus inversing the color scheme. Apparently this allowed for mire details.
