There's one rule in audio: if it sounds good it is good. Turning down the instrumental can absolutely be the right decision sometimes. I like to give songs a fair shot and I'm ok smoothing out the lyrics in a line or two, but when this many lines are this far off I give up because I can't be putting more time into writing the track than the writefag did. It's the right number of total syllables so changing it to something with different syllable count doesn't help. The issue is that the 1st half of the line is 1 syllable short so if that isn't changed the 1st syllable in the 2nd half has to be sung with the 1st half, as-is you'd have to sing

Probably better to just fix the 1st half to be the right number of syllables and reduce by 1 in the 2nd. for example:

Yeah that's difficult, because bikini is 3 syllables and jay-pegs is 2 so it won't flow the same as the original. It should be an easy fix without losing any of the song's intent. you could just to swap jay-peg to pee-en-gees so it matches bi-ki-ni.

I think there's a big distinction here. Because I'm sure you could sing over the instrumental, but were you matching the syllables as you went through it and checking if the words sound natural when sung that way? Because the issues should show themselves really fast when you're trying to syllable match

Maybe pic rel? The title of the song is Ride On, Rhyme!! but since the vertical and horizontal have different colors, you could make the intersecting letter be a I in one color and a Y in the other color (like, adding two branches on either side of the top). I can draw something in mspaint to show you what I mean.
Rhyme's color scheme in the games is salmon and black, so maybe those could be the colors used for the horizontal and vertical? Looking at the lyrics, using her design from the sequel will probably fit better since the song is very future focused. But any of the covers on google would work. I know Japanese so I can get you something to write over the Japanese parts if you pick a cover with japanese on it.
