I just got the Apostate key, and I suspect that this witch crest stuff is behind one of the doors in the slab. I've heard getting cursed is a lot of trouble, do you get locked out of a lot of stuff for hours, or is it a quick 5 minute thing? I want to get the crest sooner rather than later.

whats the point of having Seth appear so late?
>autistically hidden area behind another hidden area that you have no way of knowing about unless you google
>his friendly appearances are only in spots that the player has no reason to go back to/through at that point in the game
>no hint on his next spot of visitation once you do find him

i know theoretically you can find him much earlier but for 99% of players he is just going to be a random mini boss you fight before heart of the woods and then never see again.
which is a shame he couldve been this games Quirrel, like an adventure buddy that follows with you throughout progression.

>Quest marker hints at his location
>The spots he appears can be naturally found by people doing the quest to kill the void masses
The only reason he's not found so easily is because he could accidentally dick somebody out of the Pale Oil from the flea minigames if found too quickly.
>>
>>722077535
Fair enough, I find it easy enough that I didn't mind it
>>
>>722078010
>i know theoretically you can find him much earlier
You can't. You need to be in Act 3 to reach him. Encountering him is mandatory for the story though (unless you figure out that you can do Green Prince, but if you're wandering that much, you're gonna find Seth anyway) since he guards Nyleth.
>>

I had zero problem with this guy, but I also came back to deal with him while I was content clearing for 100%, and I think he was actually the last boss left on the map before the final boss run for me, i think. Totally forgot about that keyhole in the ward. So I guess that's my recommendation. Just be otherwise geared to the absolute maximum bro. Then it is easy. Like what are you even doing? Just clear every other piece of content in the game before challenging the boss dude, its a no brainer, come on.
>>
>>722077907
are you doing it before or after shade cloak
>>
>>722078432
>there's no call for you to be waking the dreamers until that point
Waking the dreamers is tied to the monument at Resting Grounds. The King's Seal/Kingdom's Edge is entirely optional, you have to do it for True Ending but the game never actually tells you to go there in the course of the dreamer objective. It's perfectly reasonable to find all the dreamers before going to Kingdom's Edge.

No, actually. You can get to Monomon with shade cloak OR Isma's Tear, you only need one or the other to beat the game (shade cloak gets you through the gate visibly blocking Cornifer, but Isma's leads you in from Fungal Wastes, which is actually how Cornifer says he arrived). You need both for true ending though (since either/or gets you to Monomon, but both are required to get to Traitor Lord).

Nope. This, you can just grab your parasite friendo and follow the path down, it leads right to the exit area there's a stagway on one side and the mist on the other side. You don't have to actually DO Bilewater yet, most of the bullshit parts are in the other portion of it which is almost entirely disconnected from the area it drops you in except by a single hallway.

You will still eventually have to do Bilewater, of course, it's mandatory for accessing Act 3. But if you just wanna fuck around with Witch Crest it isn't really tied to the area at all.

I don't remember noticing input reading with NKG. My only issue with the fight is that it's very Simon Says, there's pretty much one way to deal with each of his attacks. At best you can get some extra hits in if you're good.

Get the +3 nail. It's not hard, there are 6 pale ores and you only need 2 to hit the third stage. If you've got the double jump, you can get the one at the top of Crystal Peaks, the one in the tram station, the one from Papa Grub, the one from the Moth, and the one for defeating Nosk. The last one is from Colosseum of Fools.

IMO, Soul Tyrant is a mid-difficulty dream fight

1. Those green bugs endlessly respawn, meaning you can farm silk off them for heals/aids treatment.
2. You've found the hidden bench, right? You know how to get past that one bit without going into the maggot water, right? (Hint: Clawline)
3. If you REALLY want to put it off until later, there is a tool that helps mitigate the maggot water that can be found in Putrefied Ducts

I don't believe this at all, I think the guy saying people cheated is correct because there's no way. The base game is such a cakewalk compared to pantheon.

Hell pantheon basically has permadeath because you literally have to do all the fights in one go. That's way spookier than playing the regular game.

>>
>>722083308
It's about what you lose. If you fuck up a pantheon, it's annoying because you've lost like 20 minutes of progress. If you fuck up a Steel Soul, it's annoying because you've lost like 4 hours of progress.

That's a LONG fall to climb back up. It isn't about the difficulty, it's about the expected frustration.

witch pogo has very generous iframes (you quite literally vanish from the screen) but it sort of "locks" you onto your target so where you reappear feels a bit awkward. It ends up being very clumsy against lost lace, for example, since if you normally pogo her after baiting parry the witch's pogo will automatically put you into her counterattack afterwards

Grand Mother Silk is actually a pretty fun boss, it’s just a shame that it gets heavily trivialized with healing unless you have the parasite up Hornet’s ass.

Silksong never lets the game breathe; you're always going from one thing to the next with no downtime in between. Hollow Knight was full of little moments that added a lot to the game and their absence from Silksong is sorely missed.
>>
>>722087363
For me this happened sometime after Coral Chambers. I thought "fuck this area is really cool, we're finally in the Citadel" then it turned out that only the Coral Chambers had that kino atmosphere. The other areas like Sands of Karak and Underworks and Vaults and ducts all felt extremely underwhelming.
>>
>>722087420
That makes too much sense.
Some anon had a similar theory with Nyleth being the wall climb tutorial boss since it clearly belongs to Shellwood, but they didn't fit for being an early game boss.

>>722087481
Could've had one with the Coral Tower area, that place is visually wonderful and you even had the windows deep underwater.
Closest for me was the bench on the right in Sands of Karak with the dead body, followed by that area where you meet Shakra and her master for her quest.
>>
>>722087526
>besides the Steel Soul exclusive one, wtf were they thinking
Locking the means to bypass the shard grind in the permadeath mode only is some grade A bullshit.
>>
>>722087481
>I don't think I ever did just stop to enjoy the ambiance in Silksong
I did in the Choral Chambers. The bench near the High Halls entrance and Songclave as a whole are pretty good. Wish there was a "Quirrel in City of Tears" moment with the former, but Sherma was already taking a bath and Garmond was too busy fighting so I don't know who else would've fit for that.
>>
>>722087767
Yeah that pisses me off too.
But I cope by thinking of how late into act 2 it is.
>>
>>722087767
You bypass the shard grind with a rosary grind, which is infinitely easier. Shards from enemies are supposed to be for topping up at benches between vendors. You just need to spend rosaries on stuff you actually need instead of blowing it all on underwhelming stuff you won't use or bellhome gimmicks.
>>
Soul...

He's the most drawn out boss in the game.
>spends 75%+ of the fight underground where you can't touch him
>two add phases where he is again underground
>immune to damage from the top
>only attacks is to move from right to left (requiring you to jump over him where he cannot be hurt) or throwing shit at you
Even Trobbio spends only a fraction of the time under his stage and pops out faster. Unravelled isn't difficult at all, he's just boring.
Even if you were to play completely optimally, he'd still probably be one of, if not, the slowest boss in the game to kill and you spend most of the fight just waiting for him to re-surface.

Anon, I killed it at the start of the game with just the nail... It takes a while with no upgrades though.

I beat him at the start of the game just by hitting him once and hiding, only to find out that you can't progress beyond that area yet. This game is full of fucking dead ends.

Own a Buzzsaw for Bellhome defense since that's what the Pale King intended. Four Snitchflies break into my house.
>What the radiance?
I exclaim as I grab my Faydown cloak and Cogwork Wheel. Shred the organs of the first bug, he's husked at the spot. Throw a Curveclaw at the second bug, miss him entirely because it's a boomerang and apply 3 ticks of venom to the neighbor's flea. I have to resort to the Silkshot mounted on my Materium crafted as a Railgun.
>Hegaale!
The round punches through two bugs in one shot, the sound and spalling summoning Shakra to her vendor spot. Draw my Needle and charge the last staggered journal entry. He has the silk drain from him before the Wardenflies arrive because 3x sharpened Hivesteel is a 1hKO to basic enemies.
Just as the Pale King intended.

I got tilted when I was doing this because I didn't have the wall grab trinket on
Eventually I said fuck it and backtracked to the bench to put it on, then cleared the thing in about 10 minutes
>>
>>722093005
>the wall grab trinket
It's one of those charms I put on and never took it off. Honestly, a little disappointed in the talismans in Silksong. A lot of them seems like they're either super situational, or outright underpowered.
>>
>people dont realize silksong references mario 2 USA

Can you not get a map for the fucking Putrified Ducts?? I swear I must have gone through most of it and I still don't have the fucking map. I should have just stayed in Bilewater for fucks sake.
>>
>>722092256
I killed him pretty early on. I didn't have cogflies yet (or most other tools for that matter) so I used poison sting shards. If you set them and then smack them upwards, they fly up and hit him

It's the attitude, it's definitely the attitude. Every time I saw someone crying about a difficult segment in this game it was always later followed up by finding out that they ignored mechanics that would make the segment easier.
>>
>>722093595
after seeing clips of streamers fucking up basic stuff in games and laughing at them I started paying closer attention to my own gameplay and I realized that its very easy to play like garbage for a minute or two. but when you're at home you just go 'dam i suck ass' and try again and get it. if someone was immortalizing my worst moments playing any game, let alone silksong, I'd probably come off worse than dsp. Thank god I'm not a dancing monkey streamer faggot!

His garbage ass attitude is what makes him bad at most games he plays, DSP himself said he wants games to hold his hand. So when he has to stop and think is when he starts getting mad.

hit him a bunch to make his mask fall off. then talk to him

High halls is like one platforming challenge and a gank arena, it didn't need to have it's own map and should have been a side area of the choral chambers the same way soul sanctum was a side area of the city of tears or wisp thicket was a side area of greymoor.
>>
>>722094432
Mask Makers are a world building NPC
They are enslaved by their masks and can only talk freely if you knock their mask off first

Why would I hit him? He's not done anything to warrant that
>>
>>722094651

I think it's more that it just makes them focus. The Mask Maker wants his mask back on so he can make the masks better, he already wants to do the job.
>>
>>722094358

>>
>>722092979
1800 for the awoken nail needed to get into that guy's dream and get half of the kingsoul needed for the voidheart and the true ending. Then it's 2400 purely for an achievement and a completion percent.

They're under contract to higher beings to make masks for their uplifted, the Mask they wear IS the contract
When you are under contract by a god, you are effectively enslaved

Its in the Laundry room just before the fight
You push a laundry cart to a correct spot and then jump through the ceiling
I don't know if you can kill all the robots in the next room, they seem to be infinite spawning, but you can just ignore them to find another secret exit and cut some threads to disable them forever
>>
>>722095172
The area around the hunter's hut connects to Bilewater, but you need to enter it through Bilewater and can't get to the rest of the Ducts (including Fleatopia) through it.
>>
>>722094651
Mask makers are like a nothingburger npc. They do say some interesting stuff sometimes but anything relating to "masks" in the broader view is nonsensical. They just seem to be stand ins for Ari since he voiced the first one

Masks are faces. Mask maker sees everyone's face as masks because of course he would, that's his life. He speaks in figurative language.
>>
>>722095540

He distinguishes between masks and faces. Also, you literally collect mask shards.
>>
>>722090135
>He's an edgy scene kid.
He's actually a dying old man, that's why the ritual is happening in the first place.
>>
>>722095763
The Simp is a character that collects Masks to change his roll for his Simp target
Masks define a bug in more ways than being a simple face
