STEAM autumn sale
>garbage games that /v/ tricked you into buying, edition

Here are the shitty games that /v/ tricked me into buying over the years. Avoid at all costs:

-Terraria
-Infra
-E.Y.E divine frogmagic
-Bayonetta
-milk in le bag of milk, etc...
-deadly premonition
-fallout new vegas
-mad max
-pillars of eternity
-synthetik
-talos principle

Feel free to add to the list. And remember, /v/'s advice is worthless

I realized I didn't elaborate so here's the breakdown:
-Terraria
>low quality flash game that somehow escaped from newgrounds and onto steam
-Infra
>half life mod with half assed maps. Made by baltoïds, and all the people that shill it on /v/ are probably balto niggers
-E.Y.E divine frogmagic
>honestly has some charm, and I did finish it, but too amateurish to be sold
-Bayonetta
>If I want to watch a bad anime I just watch a bad anime
-milk in le bag of milk, etc...
>r*dd*t hipster garbage, so quirky
-deadly premonition
>your average japanime console game with slow tank controls and quirky story amirite
-fallout new vegas
>it was probably the bestgame ever in 2005
-mad max
>like a theme park with a grindy minigame every 5 meters
-pillars of eternity
<---see picture
-synthetik
>no
-talos principle
>hipster story with low quality modelling and bad repetitive puzzles

Don't know about stalker but troubled development is never a great sign
I can absolutely caution against Starfield though, I was super hype for it and it was a crushing disappointment, if you want the ship customisation maybe try no man's sky that just added it which I am given to understand has the interior customisation Starfield lacks which was one of my first big disappointments with Starfield

oh hell no to that, $20 or under if you are a diehard bethesda fan is what I could recommend it at. yeah, i was looking forward to it but its just meh. stalker 2 I dropped way quicker at launch, it just had a terrible gameplay loop that was unfun. maybe try dread delusion if you want a lesser known RPG on the cheap, I find it alright.

Complete series?

Elite is abandonware with not much to do but being a space truck driver.

NMS is a survival game that pretends to be a space game. 70% of your gameplay will boil down to pointing a laser a rock. Combat is shit and planets are mostly the same. But the first 4 hours are really great.

Should I buy Blood Fresh Supply if I want a bigger discount of Refreshed Supply when it releases? I never wanted the Fresh Supply version since it's inferior to source ports like BloodGDX and Nblood. Dusk, pretty much the trailblazer for the whole renaissance, still one the most coherent visions and consistent quality.

Ashes 2063, excellent freeware post-apoc game.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/ashes-2063/downloads/ashes-stand-alone-version-101
Just download and extract. Keep in mind that Dead Man Walking and Hard Reset are mostly fan-made expansions, so the quality might waver somewhat. Still a good time.

Cultic is looking good, I've been waiting for it to complete, but didn't get to it yet myself.

Selaco aims to emulate F.E.A.R. style of firefights, so not exactly 90s inspirations. Very good chunky campaign, except they fumbled even starting the story, and blue ball you with a boss fight cliff hanger. If you ignore that and enjoy the murder, it's exceptional.

Amid Evil is a treat aesthetically, but a bit trivial to play.
HROT I got bored with quickly, but some swear by it.
Same for Ion Fury, that one has so much good buzz that I'll have to revisit it one day.
Prodeus has beautiful levels, with some notable set pieces, but the combat lacks the edge. Enemies look like ass, and there is a baffling respawn system instead of saves, maybe they'd patched it by now. I enjoyed scouring the levels for gold to spend on permanent unlocks.

Last sale I was going to get Iron Harvest Deluxe but decided not to, I decided I would wait for the next sale, but now I click Iron Harvest Deluxe and it just takes me to the steam home screen with the autumn sale on it. Are you looking for a trophy room, or interior decoration, or a virtual home you grow attached to?

Nine Sols, you have a home base with a couple of characters, and you bring back thingamajigs to entertain a kid. It's not big on customization, but you have unexpected changes and scenes to look forward to.
Voices of the Void. It has a food and a sleep meter, but it's more of a formality. The game is more of a job simulator. Which might be a relevant genre to check out too, I'm only vaguely familiar, but I think customizing your battle station is one of the appeals.
Farming games.

There's never any new stealth games to buy. Commandos reboot was supposed to be something to look forward to and it ended up being a let down according to fans. Guess I just gotta wait for Styx and that Korean Blacklist inspired game. There's never anything. Is the stealth mechanics in Assassin's' Creed Shadows even worth buying that game over? I know the answer is no. But I've already played the nu Hitman games. I just wanna play something new. Yes I've played intravernous 1 and 2.

Please someone give me something. There's a lack of Thief and Splinter Cell type games, they rarely ever show up.

Didn't they shut down pawn servers? That's a core pillar of the game.
It has some outstanding features, and I'm glad to have played it 8 years ago, but it's a very uneven game. Some jobs are braindead, if you pick up all the quests you get wildly overleveled for the main plot, which is the best designed content, you can completely trivialize fights with instant inventory healing.

Untolds are very different from 1+2 HD. They have the same setting and overall plot, but pretty much everything gameplay-related is different: skill trees, formulae, enemy design, dungeon layouts, quests, etc etc.
If you want to play EO1 and EO2 somewhat authentically, get the HD versions. If you're interested in more modern EO, emulate EOU and EOU2. They're all good games in their own right even though EOU1 is a bit polarising.

I found it awful. It's just a randomized dungeon, with a bunch of random monster waiting for you in a bunch of randomized rooms. And at the end of each dungeon you lose all your XP progress, all that you can keep is your upgraded weapons, which is stupid because it's easy to make a mistake and lose them. I have Onirism. It's alright, but I haven't played it in ages because I've been waiting for it to be complete before reinstalling after my previous hard drive died.
Overall I'd say its quality is kind of weird. The combat has never quite clicked with me and I don't know how to explain it other than it feels kind of like a DPS check, where a lot of the time it just devolves into "backpedal while holding left mouse button and hope your weapon is strong enough before the enemy closes the distance and makes you eat tons of damage". On the other hand, the environments look great, the platforming is satisfying and there are the occasional moments that are genuinely cool.
The other thing I'd say is that if you're going in expecting it to have any kind of winkwink-nudge-nudge saynomore humour, it doesn't. It feels like it was written by a parent with their kids in mind, which isn't a bad thing imo.

>Haydee 1
It is what it claims, and absolutely nothing else. Platforming can be unforgiving, bullshit even, and the combat is heavy and punishing, the puzzles do their job at making you think... grab it when it's under 2 dollers or something.
>Haydee 2
Much less of a chore, but the combat and puzzles ard much less interesting. Inferior to Haydee 1 save for the graphics.
>Onirism
Potential GOTY. Very large, better combat, full of vidya references and refreshing humor, and great soundtrack, but it's also very buggy. If you like Ratchet & Clank, Doom 2016 and/or Serious Sam. It's a must try.
>>
>>722161691
There is still no better "FPS but also fun powers" game on the market, for some reason. And with Tiny Tina they finally realized that having more active abilities is more fun, rather than making builds around stacking 40 different types of effects

I enjoyed Arise but I admit I didn't enjoy it enough to bother with the DLC. I really liked the premise and the main characters but the long lore-dump segment before the final dungeon really ruins the story and the setting for me (the ending is nice, at least). The combat is serviceable but not good enough to convince me to do the post-ending content.
That said, I'm not a Tales fan (the only other Tales game I played was Phantasia decades ago with the "fucks like a tiger" translation), so I can't compare it to other Tales games.
>>
Bought myself Wandering Sword and No, Im not a human. Both seem interesting and i've played a really good chinese game this year (Back to the Dawn, prison simulator) so I wanted more.

Haydee 1 is good. It's a little bit of Resident Evil, Portal, and Tomb Raider mixed together in a complex interwoven dungeon. There is pretty tight resource management and cruel ambushes, a stark and hostile atmosphere, some parts are genuinely spooky.
Haydee 2 takes out climbing entirely, leaving behind a shitty resident evil with 3 enemy types. It also shits all over the atmosphere by covering every shelf with dildos and every wall with shitty posters featuring porn parodies of popular games. Fucking baffling.

Gotta pick between one of the first two, the rest are basically set in stone at this point; I'd swap out Shiren for any jRPG blobber but somehow all the ones I'm looking at are expensive as shit
They're both by the same devs and screenshots/reviews don't tell me much: since I assume gameplay wise they're rather similar, I'd rather pick one with more interesting customization/skills/exploration/choices

>>722161440
If you do pick up the bundle, make sure to play The Citadel first as it's lacking some pretty important QoL stuff, and definitely has less variety/shit to fuck around with

The game is kind of like a lower budget Diablo 2. It's pretty good, the graphics look like shit and there's not much that you could really do about that. There have been some mods to actually import like all of Diablo 2 into Grim Dawn but it doesn't work with multiplayer And I think that it's unfinished if I remember correctly.

But it's pretty entertaining for what it's worth. I enjoyed it a lot, it has stuff like multi-classing and does have the option for multiplayer. It's entertaining for what it's worth. You can probably pirate the DLCs if you want

The base game is okay imo, especially if you're not sure whether you want the DLCs or not.
>6 classes (each character picks two, and the 6 that are in the base game are the staples even for expansion characters)
>level cap of 85 (Ashes of Malmouth bumps that to 100)

>>
>>722180343
Not really. Imagine an Ubisoft game like far cry primal or like ac2 but instead of using a bow or throwing knives, you cast weak spells at enemies.

Yes, it's actually a steal for that price. Go for it, plus if you like anime aesthetic you will adore it.

Does Stardew Valley have crafting?
Not just necessarily tool, but produce, like working up to making Gold Butter in SoS:ToT.
>>
>>722179169
It's kinda fun, the story is worthless and animations aren't super well defined or anything but the platforming is snappy and the map is FUCKHUEG
For that price, it's more than worth
>>
>>722182719
It's been a while but I'm pretty sure you can make tools and seeds and it all goes into a crafting skill

>>722182834
Yeah and paying $70 for game made three gens all for a chink tablet isn't inspiring neither is uping prices on all games and consoles
>>
>>722182915
Something i forgot to say, it's actually easier than Dark Souls, or at least it was easier for me. More noob friendly(no offense i'm not calling you a noob, just thought i should tell you)

There are preserve jars and kegs which transform your crops to jam or wine/juice.
Once you upgrade your house enough times to have a cellar you can throw these products into aging casks there as well to increase their quality.

Harvest/fish goes up in quality with skill and whatnot. Cooking recipes can only be upgraded with one late game consumable you have to buy, so it's not really a growth field.

Is chained echoes any good? I'm highly skeptical of any indie game that claims to be a classic jrpg.

I've heard the ending is shit. Despite that can you still say it's good?
>>
>>722186132
It was a bit sluggish to get through desu, if i turned back time i would skip it, unless you're into anime pixel which is a pretty niche category of games
>>
>>722186132
Yes it's just people getting mad that the dude from the logo doesn't get the girl, even though there was no implication they were gonna get together
>>
>>722185898
Sea of Stars is fucking garbage so of course it's better, but that's an extremely low bar.
>>
>>722164217
I'm not very far into it yet but I loved trials and the dragon girl has a really cute voice so I'm enjoying it.
>>
>>722187290
I'm interested but not at its current price. Maybe when it falls to around $25 ill pick it up.

It+DLC for under $20 doesn't seem like a bad deal all things considered.

>>
>>722187553
Well yeah, the combat was good and the graphics soulful, can't deny that. Pull the trigger.
