The reason I dont simply state "adventure game" is because it attracts the wrong type of "puzzlers" the type that think its reasonable to consider Portal an adventure game as much as Outer Wilds. Aka games that are just virtually "puzzles" but make it not seem like you're just doing more elaborate sudoku. I call these "Test Puzzlers". The Witness and Talos principles are good examples of this. Outer Wilds is not. But the reason I emphasize "focus on puzzles" is to filter primarily action games like Uncharted or Tomb Raider (yes even "shadow of tomb raider" which retards wrongly claim has a TON OF PUZZLES! ill explain) Because they turn out actually to just be games that have a puzzle thats 10 minutes long, every 3 hours in lile a 10-15 hour game. So the puzzles leave almost zero impression and are often either disjointed in design, or literally the exact same thing repeated in a different context. Or both.Outer Wilds is what I consider the golden child of "Adventure Game with a focus on puzzles". Combat is absolutely necessary to me. But a game that could do both combat and puzzles exceptionally would be a uniquely close to perfect game. I've already found a game like that, but for 2D. It also has the best bosses in the entire indie scene, its called Iconoclasts. I could write essays on why IC is near perfect, because I already know one who reads this, is not convinced.
