Silksong is a great game, isn't it?
>>
>>722722174
Still haven't played it. I have gamepass and everything, I just don't have any motivation. I'm sure it's a good game and all, but after years of it being just a meme I just can't find it in me to give a single shit about it existing.
>>
>>722722174
It has the balls to be hard in an industry that cries when it doesn’t win.
>>
I love it more than Hollow Knight but there are things that disappointed me.

>no Colosseum of Fools
>no Path of Pain
>OST isn't as memorable
>map is a bit too big and kind of a pain to traverse, especially once you're in Act 3
>pacing feels a bit off

Otherwise it's my favorite game of the year and it doesn't even come close.

I don't think TC wanted it specifically to be uber omega hard, it's just designed for people who are used to endgame Hollow Knight.
>>
>No fully fleshed out coral area above Sands of Karak
SEVEN YEARS
>>
>>722722475
The game is not -that- hard.
I suck at videogames and even the hardest bosses like Karamelita and Lost Lace took me like 10 tries maximum.
Credit where it's due however, SS is not a "fake" hard game, where the game flashes a bunch of fancy attacks that are not that mechanically complex to engage, and instead, you have to play close attention to attack cues, opportunities, and use your toolset to get the most out of openings.
>>
>>722723090
>>
>>722722495
How long did it take Hollow Knight from release to add all that DLC? Never know
>>
>>722722818
I'm 99% sure they decided to move all of these to DLCs. I think they mentioned something like having very ambitious plans for silksong DLC that might take a while, which could potentially mean flashbacks in each area from when they were in their prime, similar to Verdania.
>>
>>722723172
Grim Troupe came out in October of the same year HK was released.
>>
>>722722634
The only ones that I really noticed were Bilewater and Cogwork Core honestly. Everything else just didn't make an impression.
>>722722495
Silksong does have some serious issues.
>Lace's character fucking sucks, with objectively terrible writing
>The game is so big it starts to spread thin by the endgame
>Act 3 was dogshit, outside of the mandatory bossfights
>The descent into the abyss is cool -and it's over just as fast as it started.
>You can apparently beat Act 2 without the double jump, which is fucking retarded because there's little to no reason to return to the slab.
And honestly I even forgot to check beyond the bell station simply because I forgot the rings were even there.
>Despite having so many bosses, a lot of them are boring or trash, and that don't justify being so like Moss Mother or Skull tyrant, which are obviously meant to be simple early bosses
>Silk Soar doesn't open up the map more for more exploration
>The Needolin Time Travel mechanic is used ONCE outside of the main quest
>Orange trinkets sucks outside of the 3 good ones

not good enough. they should add picrel feature in the next dlc. something like "remember to use your tools and clawline". the game needed a qol like this badly

While *technically* well made, this music just isn't very memorable or catchy - it lacks personality.
You won't be randomly humming any Silksong tunes in the shower like you would with Metroid or Castlevania songs.

>>
>>722722475
It's not that fucking hard though, maybe I've gotten better since HK but even though the average difficulty of Silksong is higher the highs don't match anything close to the arena, white palace or radiance fight in fact I thought the final boss in Silksong was a letdown. Even the ant bitch wasn't that bad, yeah she took me a while but compared to something like the last boss in 9 Sols it wasn't bad at all. I think it's just too hard for normalfags who got meme'd into playing it because of the hype, it's a lot harder than the average metroidvania but anyone who plays Soulslikes regularly should be fine. Outside of Bilewater the difficulty felt very "aww I fucked up, that was on me" as opposed to being frustrating and annoying.

I wonder if there's just too much going on in the game to really pay attention while you're actively playing it?
>>
I would not be able to hum a single one of Silksong's tunes if you named a level and asked me to. Meanwhile I can remember every single song from Hollow Knight. The only thing I really remember about Silksong's OST is its reliance on the Dies Irae motif.

Not enough character interactions and dynamic setpieces. I got pretty happy whenever I saw Shakra's rings in the environment or heard her singing, and I liked seeing Sherma make it to the "top" but that's pretty much it. Even after the pilgrim village in bone bottom was destroyed, I reacted pretty much like pic related. Even Lace feels like she needs at least twice as much dialogue and events (yeah I'm including all the specific spots you can find her too).
>>

When I replayed Nine Sols there were several bosses I went through first try that took me hours on my first playthrough. It was kind of surreal.
>>
>>722729942

Hallow Nest felt more dire.

The “stakes” of Hollow Knight are more…Twilight Princess.

Meanwhile Silksong is more…Wind Waker in tone.
>>
>>722730023
We’ve come full circle.
>>
>>722730518
I think you've got it backwards. Hollow Knight and Windwaker both show a kingdom that has been completely destroyed and what little survivors remain are in small enclaves or looting the pieces. The only future there is a sliver of hope debated amongst the parties who lead to its destruction.

Twilight Princess and Silksong are about a kingdom on the brink of cataclysm, as long buried darkness bursts forth to the surface and demands its due. Communities are certainly not flourishing, but there are areas of near normalcy. There are people to meet and care about beyond small pockets of survivors or fellow looters. There's something to protect.
>>
>>722730518
>>722730854
I think the Black Egg Temple being right next to Dirtmouth (for some reason) helped add to the stakes.

At first I thought that SS needed more travelling NPCs like Quirrel and Cloth who move around the map, but thinking on it there are already quite a few.
>Shakra
>Sherma
>Garmond & Zaza
>Fleas
>Grindle
>Green Prince
>Ballow
>2nd Sentinel (kinda)
>Pilby (kinda)

Pilby needs to progress his journey (maybe he takes a wrong turn and ends up in Bilewater) and Gilley needs some closure to her storyline and I think they would have a good mix.

I just beat the Widow boss in Bellhart and got my first needle upgrade. She was by far the coolest boss so far!
I'm fairly certain that I'm approaching the end of Act 1 because I can see on the map that the blasted steps lead to the main quest marker.
Currently trying to finish things up, I found 3 crests already, did most sidequests and got my first mask upgrade.

So far I think it's pretty ok difficulty wise. The giant beastfly was the worst so far but mostly because of the long runback and my brain just can't handle adds in bossfights. The normal 1v1 fights where I can just learn a pattern are just a matter of time until I figure them out. The platforming has been very fun so far, I don't get what the issue about the pogo is. But then again I'm using a hori GC controller and it has these notches down there so I suppose my hardware incidentally helps me lock into the perfect angle? IDK, everything feels responsive and snappy and when I fumble a jump I never feel like it's the game's fault.

I'm curious in how bad the judge will be. I only heard about him and don't even know what he looks like or what the fight is like but it's supposed to be the big noob filter.
>>

My problem is that I can't hear music in boss fights because I'm focusing on the fight itself. Like after a fight I couldn't tell you a single thing about the score because my mind was purely in the mechanics.

So I can only really judge the calmer background music and Hollow Knight takes the cake here. Silksong's BGM sounds almost generic while HK has absolutely timeless tracks like

Hollow Knight was my favourite design in Hollow Knight. Specifically how sharp and angular his limbs are compared to Ghost.

If the Void ending is canon then he's free from the infection so would have been of sound mind and not attacked Hornet during the ending, he's out there and ripe for a game in the future. He could Berserk/DMC5 it up with an artificial arm too.

We have HK using a "nail"

>>
>>722722634
There were some great songs, especially Widow, but there's definitely more places where the music takes a back seat than HK.

Not the bosses so much as the locations. The only ones where I can really remember a melody are Bellhart, Bilewater, Cogwork Core and Greymoor. Plus Blasted Steps, but that's just 4 seconds of singing it repeats over and over. The others just feel very ambient.

Just got to act 3 exploring the devastation and what the heck. How could they just offscreen kill my poor guy Flick. I'm so sad there is fucking nothing left in Bone Bottom. All I have is this little statue he gave me, how heartless or desperate must one be to break this thing.

True, however the problem areas where this fuck really pisses on you are that arena with two of them at the same time, and the area near it with lava and the temporary platforms.

From the top there’s an area you can open with a press-up doorway that says “take the tunnel back down?”. It leads to a secret room right above the final bench in the Border Caves. You can use this to skip all but the earliest Cradle platforming and go straight to Nameless Town. This lets you re-enter the final room from the top, so you can do the other stuff for completion far more easily

It’s somewhat obvious to find actually.

>>
>>722736836
There are small windows where you can hit her head on but in general trying to hit her head on will invite her parry which is extremely quick and hard to dodge.

By far the safest option is pogoing off her giant head and there are numerous windows to do this completely safely. Another good window is when she's up in the air diagonally shooting tentacles; there's a free hit from underneath her and when she lands. It gets easier with time.

One thing to be wary of is that areas that look like safe places to dash away to are the opposite against Lost Lace because she will often dip down into the void and pop up where you intend to move to for instant collision damage then she follows up for another 2 masks of damage while you regather.

I've only ever dodged it by accident when I clawline into her then immediately dash through in the same direction. If I hit her head on with the needle, even if I hear the clink, see her ducking down, it's too late. I cannot react in time with Reaper.

Everything else she's got I can time and avoid through positioning but I have to structure my attempts around not inviting her parry.
>>
>>722737524
Yes. Sure, there are some bosses where their huge hitbox may allow to be hit with more than 4 runes of this spell, but it's not guaranteed. You need at least 5 rune hits to get close to Thread Storm, can you do that consistently?
>>
>>722737524
Rune rage has damage drop off, each subsequent hit deals less and less damage, you're unlikely to hit more than 3 on a single enemy and it won't make up the damage difference between it and thread storm anyway due to damage drop off.
>>
>>722737246
Parry is easy as shit to dodge by jumping, although punishing it is a fair bit harder and requires good action. You're mainly looking for her dash attack, figuring out your position to her to gauge what the third attack will be (aerial, tentacle, additional dash) and punish appropriately. She has some big punish windows in phase 2 and 3, mostly when she's shooting globs and (less so) when she's summoning orbs. Phase 3 is chaotic but you just need to remember she'll always respawn close to, albeit hidden by one of her abyss aoes.

playing HK again after beating SS and the #1 thing better about it is the build freedom. sure you dont get different crests but being able to mix and match the charms however you want is really nice.

even though I always end up using longclaw, hunters pride and quick slash as my core. damn I really wish there was a hunters pride or quick slash equivalent in SS though I guess itd be too broken.

also HK is harder than I remember it being though it really doesnt get difficult at all until late game.

I think Reaper is the biggest pitfall for most first time players. The crest is designed to generate silk so you could use silk skills for DPS, but when you're only learning the map and boss movesets, you just keep hoarding silk for healing, resulting in a massive loss of potential DPS. I'm replaying the game with Beast now and it's absolutely ridiculous how fast most bosses die to it. Where Reaper demanded perfect knowledge of boss movesets, Beast just needs you to find an opening.

You're just saying this because you played HK more + nostalgia. SS OST is fantastic, and got a lot more memorable tunes compared to HK's Greenpath and Fungal Wastes themes, which are the ones most people always name when asked. I wish they could have made Bilewater without all the cancer.
>>
>>722722305
>Psychologist Barry Schwartz popularized it: the more options you have, the harder it becomes to choose, and the less satisfied you feel no matter what you pick. Basically, your brain short-circuits trying to maximize the perfect outcome, and you end up doing... nothing. Like a tragic hero who dies surrounded by unplayed masterpieces and unopened Humble Bundles. If the paralysis gets extreme — like you genuinely freeze up, feel guilt, or avoid making any decision — it’s sometimes also framed under “analysis paralysis.” Same basic phenomenon, just with a more anxiety-flavored undertone.
this is another huge aspect and reason why gamepass isn't a good model for video games. on netflix you also have too much choice but you can binge watch and go through a lot of stuff fast. not the case with video games, most of them are long and bloated while good ones require dedication and mastery you will unlock after 100h or more.

I think that's why I was generally happier with video games as a kid. We didn't have a lot of money so when my mom bought a game from blockbuster or EB Games, I'd play that one game for months. I maybe got 2 games a year but I LOVED those games. I was able to clear Thunder Force V without losing a ship. I played Pokémon Red and Final Fantasy 7 exclusively for nearly a year. My Sunday school teacher got me Oracle of Seasons and Ages and I could clear both games in a day by the time I moved on.

Nowadays I can get whatever game I want but I barely even remember them now. Most times they just sit in my backlog until inspiration strikes me or they just vanish from my memory
>>
>>722723090
>Credit where it's due however, SS is not a "fake" hard game
What bullshit. It is the definition of artificial difficulty back when /v/irgins used to use that term. Bosses are damage sponges out the ass, so fights drag on. Everything ends up doing 2 masks worth of damage, even if you brush against their oversized hit boxes. And the fights are the definition of "not that mechanically complex to engage," with extremely simplistic patterns that rely on either throwing a multiple enemies on the screen at the same time or a ton of distracting flashy shit while the boss moves extremely fast compared to Hornet's normal movement speed.

But, you're right, it isn't that hard. It's tedious. It's boring. It wasn't worth a 7 year wait. But it isn't that hard.

On the Groal runback this is most apparent, just run past them.

It is included as a part of emergency overdose response kits distributed to heroin, fentanyl, and other opioid drug users, and to emergency responders. This has been shown to reduce rates of deaths due to overdose.[22] A prescription for naloxone is recommended if a person is on a high dose of opioid (>100 mg of morphine equivalence/day), is prescribed any dose of opioid accompanied by a benzodiazepine, or is suspected or known to use opioids nonmedically.[23] Prescribing naloxone should be accompanied by standard education that includes preventing, identifying, and responding to an overdose; rescue breathing; and calling emergency services.[24]

In 2021, the FDA approved Kloxxado, an 8 mg dose of intranasal naloxone developed by Hikma Pharmaceuticals.[47] Citing the frequent need for multiple 4 mg doses of Narcan to successfully reverse overdose, packs of Kloxxado Nasal Spray contain two pre-packaged nasal spray devices, each containing 8 mg of naloxone.[48][9]

Use of naloxone to treat people who have been using opioids recreationally may cause acute opioid withdrawal with distressing physiological symptoms such as shivering, tachycardia, and nausea; these in turn may lead to aggression and reluctance to receive further treatment.[59]

Lipophilicity (from Greek λίπος "fat" and φίλος "friendly") is the ability of a chemical compound to dissolve in fats, oils, lipids, and non-polar solvents such as hexane or toluene. Such compounds are called lipophilic (translated as "fat-loving" or "fat-liking"[1][2]). Such non-polar solvents are themselves lipophilic, and the adage "like dissolves like" generally holds true. Thus lipophilic substances tend to dissolve in other lipophilic substances, whereas hydrophilic ("water-loving") substances tend to dissolve in water and other hydrophilic substances.

If naloxone is administered in the absence of concomitant opioid use, no functional pharmacological activity occurs, except the inability of the body to combat pain naturally;[67] since pure mu-opioid antagonists like naloxone and naltrexone block the effects of endorphins.[68][69] In contrast to direct opiate agonists, which elicit opiate withdrawal symptoms when discontinued in opiate-tolerant people, no evidence indicates the development of tolerance or dependence on naloxone. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but studies suggest it functions to produce withdrawal symptoms by competing for opioid receptors within the brain (a competitive antagonist, not a direct agonist), thereby preventing the action of both endogenous and xenobiotic opioids on these receptors without directly producing any effects itself.[70]

When administered parenterally (non-orally or non-rectally, e.g., intravenously or by injection), as is most common, naloxone has a rapid distribution throughout the body. The mean serum half-life has been shown to range from 30 to 81 minutes, shorter than the average half-life of some opiates, necessitating repeat dosing if opioid receptors must be stopped from triggering for an extended period. Naloxone is primarily metabolized by the liver. Its major metabolite is naloxone-3-glucuronide, which is excreted in the urine.[70] For people with liver diseases such as alcoholic liver disease or hepatitis, naloxone usage has not been shown to increase serum liver enzyme levels.[74]

Hepatic first-pass metabolism, or the first-pass effect, is the process where orally administered drugs are metabolized in the gut wall and liver before they reach the rest of the body. This process significantly reduces the concentration of the active drug that enters the systemic (general) circulation and can be a major factor in determining drug bioavailability.

One such myth is that naloxone makes the recipient violent.[85] Another is that events called "Lazarus parties" have taken place, in which people reportedly took fatal overdoses in anticipation of being treated with naloxone; in reality this was a fiction spread by the police.[84] Yet another is the claim that people have indulged in "yo-yoing", whereby they would take naloxone and opioids simultaneously to enjoy an extreme "high" and subsequent revival; the idea is scientifically nonsensical.[84]

Laws and policies in many US jurisdictions have been changed to allow wider distribution of naloxone.[99][100] In addition to laws or regulations permitting distribution of medicine to at-risk individuals and families, some 36 states have passed laws that provide naloxone prescribers with immunity against both civil and criminal liabilities.[101] While paramedics in the US have carried naloxone for decades, law enforcement officers in many states throughout the country carry naloxone to reverse the effects of heroin overdoses when reaching the location before paramedics. As of 12 July 2015, law enforcement departments in 28 US states are allowed to or required to carry naloxone to quickly respond to opioid overdoses.[102] Programs training fire personnel in opioid overdose response using naloxone have also shown promise in the US, and efforts to integrate opioid fatality prevention into emergency response have grown due to the US overdose crisis.[103][104][105][106]

Following the use of the nasal spray device by police officers on Staten Island in New York, an additional 20,000 police officers began carrying naloxone in mid-2014. The state's Office of the Attorney General provided US$1.2 million to supply nearly 20,000 kits. Police Commissioner William Bratton said: "Naloxone gives individuals a second chance to get help".[107] Emergency Medical Service Providers (EMS) routinely administer naloxone, except where basic Emergency Medical Technicians are prohibited by policy or by state law.[108] In efforts to encourage citizens to seek help for possible opioid overdoses, many states have adopted Good Samaritan laws that provide immunity against certain criminal liabilities for anybody who, in good faith, seeks emergency medical care for either themselves or someone around them who may be experiencing an opioid overdose.[109]

You mean the Pale Nails or the actual Silk Spear, the first silk skill you get in the game? I will assume you mean the Pale Nails, and yea, they can cover a pretty long range, the homing is pretty fast and locks on, and as I said, you can cast them in preparation. For example a boss dives into the floor, you know when it will go out, so you summon the 3 nails, and you are ready to go ham on him and the 3 nails will be some free extra damage once he appears.

In the European Union, take home naloxone pilots were launched in the Channel Islands and in Berlin in the late 1990s.[124] In 2008, the Welsh Assembly government announced its intention to establish demonstration sites for take-home naloxone,[125] and in 2010, Scotland instituted a national naloxone program.[126] Inspired by North American and European efforts, non-governmental organizations running programs to train drug users as overdose responders and supply them with naloxone are now operational in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, China, Vietnam, and Thailand.[127]

Pedophilia (alternatively spelled paedophilia) is a mental condition in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a sexual attraction to prepubescent children.[1][2]:vii Although girls typically begin the process of puberty at age 10 or 11, and boys at age 11 or 12,[3] psychiatric diagnostic criteria for pedophilia extend the cut-off point for prepubescence to age 13.[4] People with the disorder are often referred to as pedophiles (or paedophiles).

In popular usage, the word pedophilia is often applied to any sexual interest in children or the act of child sexual abuse, including any sexual interest in minors below the local age of consent or age of adulthood, regardless of their level of physical or mental development.[1][2]:vii[6] This use conflates the sexual attraction to prepubescent children with the act of child sexual abuse and fails to distinguish between attraction to prepubescent and pubescent or post-pubescent minors.[7][8] Although some people who commit child sexual abuse are pedophiles,[6][9] child sexual abuse offenders are not pedophiles unless they have a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children,[7][10][11] and many pedophiles do not molest children.[12]

Pedophilia was first formally recognized and named in the late 19th century. A significant amount of research in the area has taken place since the 1980s. Although mostly documented in men, there are also women who exhibit the disorder,[2]:72–74[13] and researchers assume available estimates underrepresent the true number of female pedophiles.[14] No cure for pedophilia has been developed, but there are therapies that can reduce the incidence of a person committing child sexual abuse.[6] The exact causes of pedophilia have not been conclusively established.[2]:101 Some studies of pedophilia in child sex offenders have correlated it with various neurological abnormalities and psychological pathologies.[15]

The Godseekers were in Hollownest to look for new gods after losing their own. The sensed the light of the Pale King before sensing the light of The Radiance. They were looking to call The Radiance using The Knight, not realizing The Knight contained The Void. Which itself contained The Lord of Shades, the god of darkness that no one could stop. Whoops. If you get the Embrace the Void ending then calling The Radiance will unwittingly call The Void and the Lord of Shades to destroy both her and the Godseekers. Unless you gave the Godseekers the Everbloom

The Weavers blame Grandmother Silk for ruining Pharloom since it was her lies that created the Weavers and her Silk is the foundation on which the whole kingdom was built. The Weavers are blamed for ruining Pharloom since they were the ones running day to day operations and were considered vicious by some NPCs. Or at least kept bad friends.

Meanwhile you have the Conductors who not only kept the song that put Grandmother Silk to sleep going but had the giga brain idea of using surgically grafting Silk to the hearts and minds of bugs in hopes of inventing eternal, or at least extended life. Probably because they didn't realize Silk is weaved from soul, which caused The Silk to become haunted

>>
>>722751651
Yeah, and when the way to make the game easy is to just halve the damage that enemies deal, then the difficulty is entirely artificial.
Do you need me to explain it in more detail or with smaller words?
>>
>>722752339
It felt convoluted at first but it's starting to make sense to me. Grandmother Silk is a higher being that wants good little obedient children. That's why she uplifted the little shithead spiders that hide in rocks to cut you into The Weavers.

The Weavers were the "First Children" and basically ran Pharloom... after Grandmother Silk conquered every surrounding territory. This was up until they realized Grandmother Silk was lying and that they weren't actually divine. Then they turned on their own goddess. But after coming up with the song to put Grandmother Silk to sleep, and then encasing her in a cocoon of her own Silk, and then instructing the Conductors to keep the song going so she never wakes up, the Weavers just kind of fucked off. And the Conductors turned Pharloom into the hellhole we see on game, assuming it wasn't like that already. Until Grandmother Silk began to wake up, thanks Lace and Phantom, and that Silk they were using began Haunted.

Here are some ideas:
Each time you die you will lose 25% of your cocoon's total rosaries if you manage to recover it.
You have to pay for benches and bellways every time you want to use them regardless of area.
You can only heal muckmaggots with the greymoor surgeon and it costs 50 rosaries every time.
You lose all shards when you die. You can't recover them in the cocoon, they're gone forever.
Tools have a durability bar and will break after a certain amount of uses (regardless of bench). You have to go to the forge sister/architect to have them repaired and it will cost up to 150 rosaries depending on the tool.
Taking damage will remove 2 bars of silk every time, 4 if double damage.
Hornet has a random chance to go into her little weak walking animation she does at the beginning of the game but for the entire game, even on combat. You need to buy a yellow tool and have it equipped at all times to avoid it. It's only available after you reach the citadel.
