https://store.steampowered.com/app/3457940/FUNKYHEART/Cute artstyle and characters, but meh dialogue, meh voices and platforming. The movement when you're jumping definitely needs more work. I went in expecting something like Neon White but I don't know, it just didn't click with me I guess. I like the bunnyhop pun but you aren't really expected to master said mechanic. Still sharing it, because some people might enjoy it based on the art alone

>>722783194For the record these game "you downloaded demo for" ALWAYS had a demo available and usually it is an old one.For example, take CONSTANCE, they had demo since last October and you can download it now, but it is heavily outdated. So what happens is 2 things:- either they will upload new one on/past Oct 13- or they use NextFest as a advertising/PR tool to bring attention since their release is 22 oct
Any good MH clones this time around?
/jp/ touhou bros are not going to like this one. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3337840/No_Need_for_Flowers/no need for flowers waskinda fun for a furry touhou clone. it's no rainchaser though

>>722784593Well if everyone knows that then what relation it has to NEXT fest specific demo? What the point of discussing games that always had demo? You dont see "General Steam demo threads" because nobody really cares about these and/or tried them already

>>722784854Bittersweet Birthday apparently had a demo up for 4 years but I've only noticed it thanks to the next fest. I don't see why people would go out of their way to discuss games that are only featured in the next fest when the goal of the event is to help these get visibility
>>722784338cuz I hate agdg trannies, they use the comfy next fest threads to shill their slop

>>722785232>>722785094Because it defeats the point of Next Fest giving spotlight obscure demoWe end up in the same situation where only popular ones get recycled all over
>>722785296make your own threads with your own topic then?
>>722785296What I meant with my post is that games like Bittersweet Birthday or Cutting Edge: Roots of Mutation would've likely never been on my radar without the next fest. Same with many other games that I likely wouldn't have known about without random anons. Doesn't that count as an obscure game getting proper spotlight visibility thanks to the event?

>>722782184>so right now only the most hardened game journos are postingI kneel, game journalists...
I never understood the complaints about these threads being made too early. One week is not enough time to dive through the demos, even two weeks is not enough. I'm glad the press preview can be accessed by everyone early on, there should be more steam nextfest events.
>>722782184Got plenty on my plate, but there will be room for more when the other demos go up next week.I wonder if I should put flags for other countries and not just east asian ones, so people can support/skip whichever country they like/hate
>>722783194>>722784843It has a demohttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3845600/Living_With_a_Little_Fox_Girl/Looks nice but it reminds me of that other cheap clone with a similar premise that copied the monochrome sister games. The derivatives while nice just don't hit the same, the one with the neet sister in a tracksuit had atrocious pacing when it came to progress and barely any scenes or dialogue worth the time investment.
>>722558771Sucked how? Evil goat monster-girls sucked you off? Or what?Elaborate
>>722783312If it died, I simply would have made another. But yes, these threads do move slower because it takes 30 minutes for each demo to play it and gather your thoughts. We can't all just bitch about trannies I'm every post. Some of us bitch about video games.

>>722788358>>722788434no one replies in the demo threads because the attention-whoring agdg trannies and failed e-celebs don't play games, they only want talk about playing games like this retard >>722788110they don't play games, they only want to treat this site like a social media platform. that's why they make the threads early and bring their cohort of discord troons to bump at page 10 every time. the steam next fest threads are not comfy anymore and the /v/ janny must be one of them. if only they could dilate
I am at work so I can only cheer from the sidelines. I should get demo playing opportunities in a day or so though.
>>722783418There’s not enough Alice

>>722789556nice
>>722782184>>722784338>>722788871I have to give him a point, even though I don't agree with him and their visceral hate to AGDG games.. Press Preview threads shouldn't be done in succession at this very rate, not the same way as they were during Steam Next Fest weekKeeping these threads on life support while heavy lifters bumping them every 10-15 minutes isn't comfy at all. When the previous one died, you should have waited at least two days to do another one. It's feeding FOMO prematurely imo
Isle of Doctor Morose demo updated. I will retry it at some point.
>>722790069Be careful what you wish for, guy.
Cat parkour> dog parkour
adorable raccoon girl
>>722788871Not a very coherent argument. The villains you fear aren't going to disappear when the festival starts for real. They'll still be here. Whether they are here early or not makes no difference.
This one looks interesting. A shadow of the colossus thing? It also mentions breakable environments. I do love breakable environments.
Super Chillers was a pretty good demo, my review scoring system is based on how much I would be willing to pay for a video game and there's theoretically no upper limit on the score, though I suppose all my total cash assets combined would be a hard limit. In reality, I've never spent more than $80 for a video game so that's probably the top score. This one scores $9.99.
>>722792818Also I think some people in this thread could take a super chill pill, holy shit. It's demos. Just play them, don't overthink it, what is with the weird struggle?
>>722792357This looks in--> Cloudheim is a 1-4 player action adventure that blends crafting with chaotic physics-based combatkell yereself faggot
>>722793071>kill yourselfYou got it, buddy. I'm sorry I didn't consider you identify as 0.5 of a person. Obviously a game with a minimum of 1 player required wouldn't work for you.

>>722783194>Luckily I took next week off just to play vidya lolWhat are you playing? BF6? Not in the loop of current releases and that's the only one I'm aware of coming soon.
>>722784713Is the Constance demo NEW though? I played through the last one and am curious if it is different. Game felt amazing back then and eager to play more.
A demo for this? Seriously? The demo is the whole game. Once I've bounced the DVD, I've done it all. Never give away the whole thing for free.
>>722792197they are not going to disappear but they will be drowned by the based and normal anons
Sort of hard game. I died.
toss this one a score of.... $7.99
>Visually amazing>VS slopHow can they save it…
Metroidvanias are coole. Add to Library-will play later.
>>722792086I see a lot of games with cute and funny girls like Zako no Ahiru, but none of the bold cunnycore games that take advantage of the external patch loophole like Magical Girl Konoha, Ethereal Sunder or HAREM! RANCH LIFE did in their time.
actually looks sort of neat but it's an idle game so it's an instant reject. Score- $0.00
Low Budget, but maybe it has soul. I'll try playing it to find out. But this niche genre has a fair amount of competition as well. Could it possibly beat Blue Cut Hook or Galvatein?I'm not going to play every single adventure guild simulator out there, like I do with Survival Horror games.
$4.99
Art Style looks pretty atrocious. If you can't draw, just let the computers do it for you. Your art isn't automatically superior just because a human made it.
Thought I'd throw that guy a bone and post and AGDG tranny game. It'd be a shame if he had spent all his time seething about those and not actually have any of them show up.
>>722795148you posted 5 of them already troon
>>722795248Did I? How fascinating.
In a whatever-the-fuck apocalypse, graffiti artists will take the time to spraypaint instructions on the walls. They'll even use a T-square to ensure that their text is properly levelled and straight. No crooked writing here.
There’s no Guns & Nuns Storming Hell so we’re clearly missing /agdg/ here
>>722785181It is annoying when people like you try to ruin comfy threads. Luckily you're a failure so you haven't had any impact on next fest preview threads.
>>722787307I think the demo for that one didn't even start or something? It wasn't very memorable, it was sort of an instant delete one. So whatever it was, it happened quickly. Maybe it was one of those online games that made you join a lobby? I don't join lobbies. I bet that was what is was. There's a few demos from this time around like that.Finch and Archie did it too.

>>722787130It's by the same developer as the knock-off, yeah. They promise there will be more to Fox Girl this time but the demo has jackshit.
Alabaster Dawn will probably end up as one of the top demos of this Fest, it's from the same dev as CrossCode. Gameplay is similar as well, just more polished
>>722799539Alabaster Dawn will end up getting bent over and fucked by the playercounts of Femboy AI porno games.

>>722799539That's not a part of the Next Fest though. At least not yet. But speaking of non-participanta, The Lift is another recent demo I liked.
>>722800201Copying an artwork style instead of making your own? Now I know it's garbage. I don't accept derivative artwork from computers and I certainly won't accept it from humans.

>>722783602Next Fest gives an impetus to actually try out those demos
>>722800590I literally keep demos in my library dated back to October 2023 because I'm too lazy to try them, so if I don't play as much as I can within the timespace of the Festival, I'll forget about them forever
>>722801089I'm at 2024. I was thinking of just deleting all the old demos. Anyone want to help me clear some of these out.
>>722800520Maniac Mansion did the best it could with limited hardware. Today, making great art is easy and yet you can't even match a shitty Nintendo game from 40 years ago.
>>722801201Why did you miss >>722799973 ? The actual agdg person with literal years of Demo Days
>>722801416I'm the anon who posted it and I didn't know it was agdg until the credits of the demo lmao.I never go there unlike the dedicated schizo.
>>722801201If they are here to shill adgdg games, how come most of your linked posts had no games in their post content?
>>722801201Actually, I said you weren't ruining the threads on account of you being inept in all areas.
>>722799539The combat is definitely more polished than CrossCode, but I'm apprehensive about returning to puzzles and platforming, even though I've already beaten CrossCode. On one hand the current puzzles are insultingly simple, but they can easily throw more bullshit in the full game.Them becoming more woke also sours the deal.
I think the abyss x zero devs are afraid of putting out a demo. They know their game won't be good
>>722801341I treasure Ichima-san's demo too, good times
>>722799539Woke feminazi game. Alabaster means white. They're too scared of naming their game white dawn. Will not buy. Also crosscode sucked
>>722802216>No images in the About This Game section>No socials to follow in the right bar>No Recent Events & Announcements to tell fans that the game is still aliveThey have far bigger problems than the gameplay. Half of their Twitter posts should be on the Steam page instead of Musk's bot site.
Psycho-Sleuth needs work on their translation with misplaced names and pronouns (probably because he/she/it are all homophones in chinese, easy to make typos), but a death game with psychic powers based on mental illnesses seems pretty unique.
Whether to adddgd and noticed something interesting. Most of the devs in those threads refuse to name their games and post build images out of contex to make identification difficult? If they engage in secrecy in their own threads, why abandon it in these threads?
>>722802597Translation and pacing were my main issues with psycho sleuth. But I still wishlisted it, some powers could lend to interesting gimmicks.
Pretty fun tower-defense game if it weren't roguelite
>>722800317Nothing here is apart of nextfest because nextfest hasn't started

>>722803184Which makes it an instant buy for me.
>>722803184>low effortThat may be it. It doesn't feel like anything unique. It just feels like another MD game. "Why play this when I have Chocobo's Dungeon 2?" was my primary thought playing it.>>722803248Have at it boo. It has a demo.
>>722793946Fuck, you're right, it does look good.
>>722803101I thought the game was too hard. I couldn't beat the boss in floor 4
>>722803472Well if you can't beat him, you try again. And are you talking about the first boss? Lmao. Lolzers.
>>722803631I tried again. I realized it wasn't a game for me when I couldn't maneuver against the boss, instead I had to face tank it so that meant grinding for exp, ammo and other resources. I abhor this game design because if I enabled speedhack I would basically cheese the game. So it's not a good game
>>722803871Yeah those lv.1 bosses are toughies. Practically impossible.
>>722804168Nice username crackhead
>>722804226You suck at video games.
>>722804560I don't waste my time with stat cheese slop. It's barely a game where the goal is to accumulate more stuff and win through a boring turn based war of attrition instead of a game that asks mechanical skillEven childish strategy games have better game design than thus slop
>>722804658The skill required was ingenuity. There's a way to avoid the boss's attacks, you were just too dumb to realize what it was. There was actually multiple solutions. Although your strategy of being a meat headed warrior and just tanking the hit would work as well. Most people think of something better though.
>>722804996>the strategy: just throw every hex at it and knife it every now and then epic fight bro or get lucky with objects that explode when thrown to remove 3/4 of its health in an instant btw whether you get these items is 100% luck basedyeah it's really not for me
post good demos worth checking out
>>722805465Because you're stupid. The game is actually one you purport to enjoy, since it doesn't rely on grinding or chance to allow victory. You are merely lashing out because you cannot figure out simple riddles. A level one boss? C'mon.

>>722806949What?.. Where do you get that number from? The page stipule there are a maximum of 3515 matches in this occasion, and what the press preview says is always a speculative sum, since in no case do all the registered games end up attending the festival. Many devs get involved months in advance and suddenly, for whatever reason, decide to leave

>>722783236I think it's supposed to feel like CS auto-bhop, which to be fair IS pretty jank. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2618150/BIRDCAGE_Dryad_Ecophene_Module_Object/An interesting and "well-produced" shmup with some actual stage design as well. Only has stages 1 and 3 but doesn't turn into the bad kind of projectile vomit so far. The only downside for me is that it really wants you to use a controller for one of the mechanics it uses and i'm not enough of a faggot to play a shmup with a gamepad, so I just endure.

Post more agdg games. I want to see seethe.
>>722816878there's only 3 or so in the fest
>>722816878Finally bottom left can be done and move on with life
>>722816825What the fuck is Character-action?
>>722817379An action game, mainly third-person, characterized by the varied arsenal of the main character they can utilize to be as effective as possible against the enemies, hence character action. DMC is the platonic ideal of the genre, Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden also belong here, these 2000s action games that faded to obscurity like Heavenly Sword or Captain Blood can also be characterized as such, though you'd usually call them "slashers" back in the day and some people consider them a downgrade from the "genre". Some elements may also be present in other games. High-level Sekiro game may be indistinguishable from a character action game though it may not be intuitive, ULTRAKILL is a retro shooter that turned into a first-person attempt at character action halfway through, though the result was that instead of mastering a single weapon and having fun with it most bosses can now be defeated by simply pressing random buttons and punching the enemy all the time since you don't heal if you don't get style points. Bloody Spell is also a typical character action game but is rarely discussed in dedicated threads because you use the term for getting ego points because you're playing the old game instead of the new game.
>>722789164I played it last fest or the one before, it was too basic at the time. Has it been updated?

>>722817810So it's a fast-paced beat-em-up with scoring
>>722814478Filtered. Did you try the demo, or did the demo test you?
>>722818527I assume the description sounded cooler in the original language. In English it sounds like they put description of a completely different game. Also where does the chick comes into play? The trailer and almost all screenshot only show the edgy dude.
>>722818527>Lacey's Flash GamesLooks like run of the mill creepypasta/analog horror thing. Is it really that good?>GrooveyardWasn't it in previous Next Fest already?
>>722821215Lacey was basically a creepypasta video series thing that was turned into actual games after the fact
>>722782184I just tried out a bunch of them. demo bros... its not looking good. A lot dont even have simple things like graphics options or fov sliders... The only demo that I played the longest was that pizzeria game, and even that had issues like supporting TWO resolutions (yes im not joking).Misery had promise, but fell short given how it was horribly optimized and had no gameplay depth was a problem.
>>722783643implying there was one last time, or the time before?
>>722821089i loled
>>722821528You did fill up the feedback forms or made a steam forums post to suggest those devs add the essential features, yes?
>>722821528I normally don't care about optimization but yeah like half the demos I played did not have resolution options
>>722782184HOLY SHIT I CLICKED THE PRESS LINK EVEN THOUGH IM NOT A JOURNO AND A HELICOPTER JUST FLEW OVER MY HOUSE IM FUCKED BROS PLEASE HELP
>>722821669I know you're being sarcastic here but as an actual game developer I do spend the time to give feedback. Some were actually asking for my pc specs (which is pretty dumb) since you have the steam hardware survey and start from there. Plan around something like a 1080ti as a minimum.
AIEEEEEE I DISCUSSED DEMOS ON 4CHAN.COM BEFORE THE FEST OFFICIALLY STARTED WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN
Random question, but I got a mail from Steam saying a purchase failed for a game, and I need to use a coupon to repurchase it before the 11th... but the game is still in my library. Do I need to do anything?
>>722821886Quick, write "PRESS" on a slip of paper and slap it on your fedora.
>>722822150I saw a murder mystery that was a pretty typical inheritance dispute. Murder a spouse so you can get his money.Except the "money" was a Nigerian prince scam. These darn morons actually engaged in murder over a windfall of money that never even existed. There are some really dumb people out there.
>>722822150As always, check the headers and DKIM signatureValve doesn't send out mails like that though, if a purchase fails it will never get added to your library
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1198970/I_Am_Jesus_Christ/I Am Jesus Christ feels like a very bad and archaic Bethesda game. I really appreciate how it tries to tell the fictional story of the Bible in a didactic way, but what a disaster of a game. It's basically a "walk from point A to point B" simulator. They made it too bibliographical, but well, what else would I expect from a religious game?
I don't recall a shittier fest, there is absolutely fucking nothing even worth installing

Ok whoever was reccomending this shit is a faggothttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2892620It is literally Hk clone but all animations are "oiled" spine rigs instead of comfy fbf and EVERYTHING is slower by like 30%What a trash
Anyone played Brave x Junction from the previous fest? The game just released as adults only despite not even having nudity (at least that's what I gathered from the devs). That's pretty much guaranteed to tank majority of their sales.
>>722826538It's alright in a 6/10 way. I had fun with it but I didn't care about it beyond the demo.

Whiskerwood is rather pleasant to play and look at but damn I hate forced roguelike maymay. No, I don't want to roll for buildings and prey to RNG gods for good roll, instead I want to have an opportunity to research and build every type of sctructure as I progress trough the game.
>>722838293There is a research window and I'm pretty sure you can do exactly thatBe sure to stockpile mechanisms for winter because my fishery broke down and immediately exploded when I used emergency repairs, all of my ice starved
>>722838560Eh, I already made it past winter with something like 7-9 deaths. Then uninstalled the demo because there was nothing else to do but colonize nearby islands. Also x3 timer is way too slow. Devs should instead make x2, x4, x8 and x16. It takes forever to go trough the day and especially trough the evening-night.
>>722822737Grow up
Not much longer until I can go full tilt into demo playing. Soon.
Agreee is unironically the best platformer I've ever played. Even in the indie scene Japan just does it better than its competitors. I don't want to sound like an obvious shill so the steam page link is in spoilers:haha get baited it's not here, maybe it's the one below?Actually, the game is not a platformer but a collection of minigames. The actual objective is to click on the Agree button to progress.oopsie, not here. Sweet Carole is out, and that game is notable for never ever having a demo. I wonder if $26 dollars for a game I haven't tried is worth it.
>>722843767I'm apprehensive it's a "run away from the spooky thing" game like Limbo or Little Nightmares and not a point-and-click adventure. I like the latter more.
The Lacerator also just released and that game does have a demo actually. October is a big month. Tormented Souls 2 enroute.
>>722843908no reviews yet even, not that it matters that much. Enh. I might pick it up and see. It does have pretty pictures.

When the barkour demo started and a metallic dog approached me I thought I was in for a dog version of Terminator where evil robot dogs from the future try to genocide biological dogs. But it turned out the dog was just wearing a suit of armour and he was a good guy recruiting me for dog spy academy.also I feel like dogs don't need to crouch to enter vents. they are already vent sized. this dog has a gun though that's pretty cool. but it only shoots rubber bullets. that is not cool.Anyway, I wanted to get through the tutorial to see if the game's plot has something to do with cats. It has something to do with cats alright. You get dropped at a cat aficionado/scientist's castle to infiltrate. I actually like that I don't know what I'm going to find in there. Makes it exciting. Too many castles are just filled with zombies and I doubt that will be the case here. I'll do the rest of the demo later.
>>722855313The trailer for that woth the over the top narration turned me off completely desu
>>722855091The Kilimanjaro Awakens. Survival Horror game where a mountain chases you. Character's name is Mohammed, ironically. It's pretty decent, liked the part where you realize that you have to climb the very mountain that was chasing you all along.

I played the play test today, it's pretty bare bones but still very fun. Gameplay feels updated compared to rs2, the newer guns definitely feel different, and the map design I played was great. Graphics are basically the same as rs2, but if you care about graphics go play call of battlefield: legends

This is so obtuse and retarded I love it. If you thought tank controls were bad I have something for you that's even worse. 10/10.Umm, closest comparison I can think of is Studio System, or possibly Michigan:Report from Hell.
This one looks interesting.
>>722853456Cuz is not a Next Fest demo
>>722859338Just Ctrl+F all the prior 3 threads
Character creator screen had a pretty good variety. Non humans included, there was a giant otter, but he isn't available in the demo.I chose the girl from the cover to play as. Well, that's not exactly accurate. I never got to play at all because the game kept crashing immediately after I spawned into the world.0/10. I will leave it installed for a bit though, maybe an update gets released during the festival.
>>722866070no one gives a shit shut the fuck up and go away good god what kind of idiots do we have here. it's playing demos. It should be impossible to screw up. Play demos. That's it. that's the whole game. but you find a way.
This demo is not available in English. Looks good though. left on the wishlist in case it ever gets translated.
>>722818624>>722818527Error: Missing game executable. If I can't play it I can't review it. And I was already displeased that they censored Hitler's name out of the title. Lingering positive feelings from the fact that you wrote Hotel Dusk will only get you so far.

Any witch kino?
>>722805737>>722810531>>722862158I decided to pirate House of Necrosis and play it just to prove you wrong. I finished the game (the first part, I know there's the secret area) and yeah, I didn't have to learn anything to get this far. I just got lucky and cheesed the difficult encounters by throwing items or being generally overstuffed.Even if the RNG in the game is generous, it doesn't excuse how this system is only designed to waste the player's time. Risk management that just boils down to "reroll/grind a little until you have a good loadout to minimize risk" is not a strategic gaming decision involving pull and push, nor it is a puzzle. It's just pure gambling. I know the resident evil inspiration is only visual, but in those games I could just go around knife only, limiting myself to one health, and still beat it with nothing else needed other than the occasional puzzle encounter. The winning condition in House Of Necrosis is not "I need to master those game mechanics and understand my opponents to succeed" but "I need to hoard the correct stuff and bring it as much as I can."In this game, even if you know enemy patterns or try to be careful with your positioning, you are forced to take hits you would have avoided otherwise because you don't do enough damage. The solutions? >get a melee weapon that hits more tiles in front of you to flank enemies (luck based) >gather/hoard ammo to kill enemies before they get close (luck based)>get equipment that increases your damage output (luck based) >find and use items on them (luck based) None of the creative thinking to solve a puzzle here. Shit like this is why RPG mechanics just suck for most action games. Where's the planning or skill involved here compared to a fighter or a turn-based tactical game? You don't have to think outside the box like what most good puzzle games expect of you either.Good games can be beaten naked and get harder if you speedhack. Not the case for this slop
looks like there's a lot of >nigger's first mystery dungeon gameniggers in herethe absolute fucking state of this board and zoomies
>>722782184>indie game>look inside>nostalgiaI fucking hate nostalgia. vile emotion and any creative motivated by it is a soulless husk
>>722869093My complaint is not only addressed toward this genre but fake games as a whole. Sorry you grew up playing moviegames for babies, PMD is literally nostalgia fuel for zoomers. I grew up playing punch out, ninja gaiden and megaman. You wouldn't understand.
>>722826538The timer bugged out, but I've clocked in 2 hours and have completed the first 4 levels and unlock the second MC. So far, the gameplay is still very easy because of your ability to stock/draw a card per turn and the story and characters are nothing special. The blackjack aspect and quick thinking required (if you didn't turn off the timer) are what's keeping me from being outright negative with the game, because I am having fun. I'm just afraid that the complexity might have already stagnated and that the bosses are going to remain as easy as they have been so far. I'll try to play it to completion tomorrow and give some feedback.
>>722869525Are you perhaps mildly retarded, son?
>>722782184So far this has been a repeat of last Next Fest for me, not quite as bad but still mostly terrible and nothing I'm wishlisting. And the mountain of AIslop has only grown, like by a fucking lot.

This one took a while to get working, but I got it after a while. I was determined to play it after I saw it receive high praise such as: "Inscryption with ducks".But apparently the ducks are a later development. The deck you get at the start has no ducks whatsoever so something must occur later on that results in a duckdeck. Pretty decent game, wishlisted.

>>722871449I don't get why people would want their game to be compared to inscryption. I finished that game but all I felt at the end was I played multiple half baked games that had the excuse of not being explored deeply because we have to move to the next iteration.
I score this game at $2.99 and decline to add it to my wishlist.
Demo Ranking $0.25
>>722790224The opening cutscene they promised was reasonably amusing. Wishlisted. probably a $4.12 game
>>722866362The combat in this one feels like a mobile game with giant on screen buttons + a ridiculously strong auto lock on to the point can be facing away from enemies and attacks will still snap to them.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3804340/Adrenaline_Overdrive_Demo/Has potential, movement spam sliding and super jumping felt pretty good.Story actually has me a bit interested.Everything felt a bit too straight forward, it's hard to explain. Levels generally linear, focus on "score" and time but very little in the way of interacting with your score.Technically 1 "secret" big ass glowing orb that idk what it does, but nothing to search for.Generally lacking, idk.
yeah well I'm kind of tired now I think I'll order pizza and go to bed.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3735820/Big_Hops_Demo/This one was nice 3d platformer kinda typical dives, roll or crouch into jumps etc. but everything felt pretty good. Has some light environmental puzzles placing seeds which can grow into different objects to assist platforming. Demo mentions a kickstarter tho so this one is a ways out but a very good pitch.

They usually get an opportunity to hit back. Your remarks are all over the place.
>>722875046What game?
>>722874942This platformer's incredibly boring, it's not for people that play lots of 3D platformers, it's just a cuteformer where the reason you play it is because of the visuals, not the gameplay.Kero 64, Big Catch, Rollin Rascal, and Demon Tides all offer a much better platformer gameplay design as some examples of upcoming 3D platformers.Movement's incredibly basic and simple as the only thing you can do is: jump, wall climb, high jump, spam rolls and dives. No deeper moveset, no interesting physics interactions with the base movement. It's also janky with how there's many platformer 101 things it doesn't get right like how you can just spam dive straight into a wall and vertically climb it and that's far better to do than just climb the wall normally. It's not a tech because the default wall climbing lasts so short there's barely any use for it so there's no reason not to be spamming dive into the wall 24/7High jump is weird because it just locks your movement direction in place which feels stiff and unresponsive and ruins the point of using the high jump for more height, you can't even dive out of the high jump just to try and have a bit of fun.The tongue doesn't have any interesting applications to the base moveset (neither does Kero 64 oddly), you just use it to grab bugs, flowers, and as a reskinned grapple hook, there's nothing interesting done with the MC being a frog. The only interesting ideas it has are the swinging physics and the way the vines grow

>>722877565You can't win from absolute 0 based on your skill alone. You can't do a low % run like in crypt of the necrodancer for instance or go knife only like RE. Not sure if you can sequence break like in metroidvanias but that's not my point. >>722877906My issue is not with the fact that enemies are attacking or defending themselves, but that the basic toolset of the player in House of Necrosis does not allow you to skillfully get rid of the enemies in most encounters without RNG being involved in the interaction. If you face a tough enemy, your options to succeed are not:>learn the fight to deal with it efficientlyBut instead:>learn the patterns to deal with it efficiently ONLY after you have a weapon that allows you to attack diagonally >or a tile further away>use your limited rng ammo resource to kill it before it damages you>use items before it damages you>restart the run and collect stuff until you get appropriate gear and items to make the situation easierIn a well-designed game and even other roguelikes, the player can kill/counter enemies or avoid all damage thanks to knowledge and skill alone even with basic starting gear. Not the case here. There's no learning curve. Only a "get enough items/stats" check. This is ultimately what I wanted to address. Because telling me "just step aside bro" was WRONG and thoughtless. The enemy in question is glued to you if you try to move, and will not do anything until you do something him to trigger his counter-attacks. Which means you are forced to tank hits, and your only options to negate that outcome rely on the hexes, serums, traps or your ammo(RNG). Alternatively, being overleveled and geared to cheese the fight before the boss can even damage you. So excuse me when I see stat bruteforcing for what it is, instead of calling it a "puzzle". It's not. I should have been playing more demos instead of wasting my time with this game and typing this shit. I see why people unironically use GPT nowadays

>>722900759The best you can do is go to your Activity page and check the Recently Played Games tab.
>>722900910huh. cool. So at least 50.
>>722900759>>722900910In fact, you can actually register your profile on Steamhunters and sort your games by "last played", the order may be incorrect but it shows them allAnother way using the same Steam launcher is going to the library, to the "all games" section and sort by "last session", there it shows you the correct order of what you played and when, as long as you haven't uninstalled them from your library, which deletes the license from the launcher.
>>722901454On average, how much time did you spend at any demo, anon?
>>722901618Less than 5 minutes generally, it doesn't take very long to get a feel for how the game is. Some of them I do play longer though. Usually I force myself to stop even if I happen to be enjoying it though. It's a waste to play the demo once it's become clear you want the full game.

is there a post compiling all the best demos so far?
>>722782184Is there a page which shows all available and upcoming nextfest games without pagination and navigating shitty menus? Hard mode: should preload all images without the user hovering the cursor over a thumbnail to load the screenshot.
>>722901783I can't do that, I'm very proud and if I don't usually see the demo end screen I feel frustrated. Only in exceptions where the asshole dev doesn't know where to stop and their "demo" almost covers 50% or 75% of the entire game, since there it extends up to 2 hours or more and it does take away time from me to try other demos30 minutes seems like the sweet spot to me, less than that and you don't get a solid impression of the game, in some genres 5 minutes don't even cover the tutorial, more than that and it becomes unbearable.

>>722901810Mad King RedemptionPhilna fantasy
>>722902049Deep diving is the best method I've found. You only see each thumbnail once and you don't see repetitions on each pagination. It's difficult and time-consuming, but it takes the least amount of time. You can segment it by main genres to make smaller chunks, but you'd see repeated games in each one.

>>722899171The animations are fantastic, but everything else about the game is embarrassingly amateur. I'm surprised to hear the game is coming out Q1 2026 because he needs to learn UI and audio design or work with some who does. Would be almost a decent game to get if he did, but as it is, it's still pretty much just a "sexy meme game".
>>722902507Funny joke. Nobody actually likes stealth.
Why this game has two demos?https://store.steampowered.com/app/3850890/Undead_Sentence/
>>722902590Except it used to be one of the most popular genres of game before publishers arbitrarily decided they could just capture that audience with shitty tacked on stealth mechanics in their shitty AAA open world action games. Then suddenly, stealth is simultaneously oversaturated and nonexistent and no one is happy. Stealth fans don't get actual stealth games anymore and people who hate stealth have to deal with the shittiest version of it infesting 70% of major releases.

> riichi mahjong but even more confusing and without BGMoh Christ
>>722906960Finished playing it just now and the concept is interesting but the execution and writing are both bland. The idea is that it's a story-focused game where you pick a friend (or a stranger/streamer) to be the person who played the game before you and what you encounter in the story changes based on what they did. If that person was a dick to others, the people you meet will probably be prejudiced towards you. If they weren't a pointless altruist, you might find more supplies through the path they took. If they managed to convince a gang leader to loosen a lockdown on an area, you won't need to sneak around. Almost sounds interesting. But the main plot of the game is the cliche where humanity is dying of a disease and there's only one medicine for it that's hard to get. All of your decisions will be about being a saint or a monster. The game is also extremely linear, or at least the demo was. I was just getting shoved along a path and making minor decisions after characters were done rambling at me. I can bet that the player before me didn't really convince the gang leader so much as they were just shoved into that plot line the same way I was just forced into doing a heist to steal medicineThe most damning thing is that the game looks like it has less reactivity than any other story-focused game because of its gimmick. It HAS to be because it has to be in a constant state of equilibrium for the next player and the next and the next. The player before me convinced the gang leader to rescind the lockdown, so I didn't have to sneak through. But because the lockdown was gone the characters I met were cocky and wanted to steal from him so we did a heist. And because we did that heist, the gang leaders going to do another lockdown. And it's going to loop like that forever. Doing either of those are not actual choices we made, might I remind you. It is actually insane that the developers think this is an acceptable game story. Could go on, but yeah. Avoid.
>>722905930The average NF dev
>>722906618Placeholder for when it is implemented in the final version or a later update, same reason why other demos have greyed out buttons. It's going to be there in the final version anyway and it's just a small UI toggle, no reason to take it out because they didn't implement their gook translation on time.
>>722909671This could be interesting, but the lack of sound is really fucking disorienting. It feels like i'm playing it in a dream and it's not conducive to any actual thinking. It's not like you're Demonic Mahjong where you have Chinese, Japanese and English dubs for even the main theme of the game, but, like, come on.
