Come home (Linux), Gamer man.
>>722992830Already did, a year or two ago.
>>722992830>lock your pc to our online servers, goyim>we definitely don't have previously announced plans to eventually lock users out of running programs on their own pc that we don't approve of
>>722992830I'll stick with 10 for as long as possible at this point. Maybe then Linux will be less of a headache or Windows with have another half-way mediocre OS like 10 again.I stuck with 7 until last year. I can hold out again.
>>722992830Can't. I play to many normalfag online games that linux can't play because of anticheat.
>write 'nigger'>Microsoft locks you out of your computer
>>722993423>your computerIt's not yours though, it's only "this PC".
I still have my original Windows 11 install on a flash drive.
>>722992830>you can't install this without- *holds power button*>*rebooting noises, disc drive opens*>welcome to ubuntuthis is literally whats going to happen.
>>722992830
>2018: "Linux can't run games, so just use Windows for games and Linux for everything else">2025: "Linux is only good for games, so just use Linux for games and Windows for everything else"Huh?Yeah, I get it, people who thought Linux can't run games without 300 lines of code transcribed into the terminal got BTFO by Steam Deck and Proton, but I don't understand how that made all other computing on Linux supposedly worse.
>>722992830works on my machine
>>722993312>I stuck with 7 until last yearbased, i did the same.i even went so far to remove battleye from the dayz linux server executable, just so i could host a lobby for us
>>722992830im on windows 10. im not moving
>>722993809It didn't. The same programs that schizos say you need windows for today didn't work on Linux in 2018 either. So you got 2 different sets of weirdos saying different retarded shit.
>I'm on Win XP, I'm not moving>I'm on Win 7, I'm not moving>I'm on win 10, I'm not movinghmmm...
>>722993809The real filter is alot of people don't know their passwords for their accounts. So installing a new os would be a giant pain in the ass.
I don't know man, do my art programs and drawing tablets work on linux? How about my emulators? Will linux let me play the very few new games releasing that I have interest in?
>>722992830God, I miss Windows XP. Has anybody made a Linux distro that is just legally distinct XP?
>>722994670>every other generation is skipped for some reason
>>722992830>thing's happening>doesn't actually happenidk senpai
>>722994670XP eventually became a huge virus target7 was intentionally sabotagedand 11 does not work on some hardware and im not paying to "upgrade" when I was tired of windows since XP.if I didn't have controller issues on linux when I had my old laptop + rpg maker issues with the same I wouldn't even be using windows 10, which ALSO has issues with rpg maker (fullscreen doesn't work without patches)
>>722994773Vista is just 7 that was released too early. 7 is bloated and slow as fuck just like Vista but the toasters that couldn't run Vista were littering a landfill by 2009.Windows 8 is basically no different from 7 and 10... EXCEPT it has a completely dogshit UI.
>>722994885Did you make this now though.
i hear that if you dont upgrade from windows 10, bill will come to your house at night and install windows 11 on your pc. is this true?
is this shit still required in w11 iot ltsc? if not, is it possible that it will be in the 2027 update?
>>722992830LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLwhat now w11 cucks?soon they'll add always online drm so you cant run cracked windows anymore
>>722993809Because everybody is today a professional and absolutely needs to run Solidworks (yearly license >$2500) and Photoshop (yearly $250 to $1000) at home.
>>722992830Amazing proton support guysOne day it will run properly, the next it won'tLinux will never be for gaming
>>722994773Vista and 8 were completely fine editions of windows and only brain damaged sheep echoing reddit sentiments believe otherwise.i might understand if you worked in enterprise and had issues with vista due to the driver stack changes, but as a personal user, there was nothing wrong with vista.
>>722994012Y'all gave your privacy up years ago, win7 was just as much spyware as 10 and 11 are now. This is the only safe version of Windows, period. OG OS REPRESENT!
>>722995130yeah no shitproton-ge is bleeding edge and you only really need it if you want to play the latest sloppa
Still not using linux lmao
>>722995130>Rely on Proton Experimental exclusively>"Wtf the experimental version is... experimental??????????? HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW???"
>>722995116>windows>yearly license ???????
>>722994964It's true. If you use a projector to put an image of his ex-wife in your living room it should keep you safe, I haven't had any problems ever since.
Friend tries to convince me to move to arch or some other hipster shit because rajeshsoft is rubbish and because he wants me to learn it for a project that we're going to be working on. How is gayming on Linux anyway?
>>722994740Are you asking because you have any interest in using Linux in the first place? Or do you just want to have a debate that ends with the goalposts eventually moving to "runs 100% of games"? If you have no desire to switch to a new operating system, then you might as well just assume the answer to all your questions is no. I mean if your only concern is having an OS that does what Windows does, nothing more and nothing less, then you wouldn't switch anyway because Windows is already Windows.
>>722995251I know social media has destroyed the reading comprehension of billions, but this is still embarrassing
Why doesnt Valve just build a steamOS that works and does everything windows can do minus the shit people don't care about? Why are they instead trying to push VR that no one actually cares about?
>>722992830I'll probably be sticking to 10 until I build a new computer in like 5 years
>>722995116Linux doesnt have shit for art programs
>>722995116Do people actually pay for software? I was always employed in small private companies and it was all pirated, even some of the hardware was stolen because the boss bought it from some shady guys for cheap and few months later police came
>>722995193ironisch‘ scheißposten is awl no scheißposten
>>722992830Time for Valve to come in and clean Microsofts clock. People want to play games, watch YouTube/twitch, and talk on discord. That's it. 99% of what windows offers is useless to me at best and downright malicious and nefarious at worst
>Consoles? heh, they're too plebeian and locked down, I'm a SMART gamer>Linux? AAAIIIEEEEEEEE THAT'S TOO COMPLICATED PLEASE SAVE ME BILL SAMA
Do they mean they removed the hidden regedit or cmd ways? Or just the option during the normal installer? Because the typical installer option has been gone for years already.I am already on Linux so whatever, but i still use windows in vm's for gaming, soI would still like the option in the future, but i guess i might have to forever migrate the vm i have now. But if they are getting this aggressive about it i guess they'll force accounts that are already local to sign in online eventually as well
>>722995408We aren't Indian
>>722995130Very few games actually require Proton Experimental despite all the midwits using it for every game. Proton 9.0 runs most games and isn't constantly changing. You're whining about a non-issue.
>>722992830The thing is that, if you don't use an online account and use a local one, your password can easily be cracked from NT Password Edit under just about any version of Hiren's Boot CD. Online accounts are the only workaround Microsoft has provided for this ancient exploit. Don't know how easy it is to script-kiddie a Linux password because I have not managed to get a 100% functional install on anything.
>>722995512Yes, they removed evey built in way to bypass it. You have to download a third party app now to get a local account.
>ReXPtards were bullied into submission and updated to 7>Re7ards were bullied into submission and updated to 10>Re10ards are being bullied into submission and updating to 11

>>722995174Sometimes the bait hurts.
>>722992830I play games on PC and Linux is not even remotely close to being a good replacement for Windows yet.
>>722995536>Don't know how easy it is to script-kiddie a Linux password because I have not managed to get a 100% functional install on anything.Pretty sure Linux passwords are very safe from the likes of (You) if this is the case
>>722993015samemy windows hd died and i was too lazy to reinstall + windows has become actually so jeeted its more annoying to use than linux somehowbeen daily driving arch for 2 yrs

>>722995623Dumb cope.
>>722995536>if you don't use an online account and use a local onethe ideal future is not one where removal of the ethernet cable, or turning off the power to your wireless modem, leaves you unable to log into your computer.
>>722992830i am too stupid for linux
How does this make you feel, /v/?
>>722995616yes, they need to install their spyware and monitor you 24/7 it doesn't work when you're offline.
>>722995536That's the case for every OS. If you want security like that you have to use encryption.
you know what's absolutely maddening? people framing this in moral terms. like it's your responsibility now to buy a new computer every two years, like you buy a new mobile phone every two years, because something something hardware updates, something something security updates.
>>722995698mint is there for you anon
>>722993503>>722995705the moment the gloves came offinstall Mint btw
>>722995620I disagree. For new games I just press enter when I click the search bar on steams store page then I filter by steam deck compatibility. Anything that doesn't run I look up on protondb and barring that I refund. 9/10 times it just werks no issue
>>722995762but it cant games can it
>>722995705>renames it back to "My Computer"heh. nothing personnel, kid
>>722992830If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear, Microsoft believes in diversity and so will you. It's no about an operating system it's a bout creating a more fair and sustainable future
All microsoft products and email services are backdoored, Microsoft cut off israeli access from spying on Palestinians using microsoft 365 etc. and overloading their azure servers with useless crap, they had to tell the jew no.

>>722995754Kek, I upgrade my PC more often than my phone. Why would I upgrade my phone when it works just fine?
>>722995850The closest thing to Gayâ„¢ in Linux Mint is that some of the default wallpapers have the color pink in them.
>>722992830I have a win11pro completely offline install I haven't updated in 2 years, will this fuck it up if I ever let this thing go on the Internet?
>>722995754Damn dude that's crazy I wouldn't know anything about that because I'm not dumbass consumer cattle
>>722995934The internet connection setting is only forced on this dev release channel, its not confirmed to be in the official release of the next windows 11 update. There is an easy work around even if it gets blocked by using a modified installer. The article is written by retards who think getting these installers on the dark web takes cyber hacking skills and invites into sekret sites.
>>722995174Windows 8 was aesthetically disgusting and that's what most of the complaints were about. It's a good OS in retrospect because things have gotten so horrible that "ew it looks like a tablet interface" seems like a silly complaint.
>>722995457I don't think anybody implies that Linux is too hard to use, even if you can assume that the average person would find that true. No, people imply that it's unusable and not fit for personal usage, at least for now, and they are right. Just because your Proton Experimental v.23.0.2.1.001 runs compatible games with an advantage of 2-3 frames per second compared to Windows does not make it a real alternative to Windows or MacOS. Come back when your audio drivers will stop randomly crashing every 2 hours.
>>722996056how rebellious! in a conformist kind of way
>>722996103My computer has been on for 5 days now and I'm still listening to music without a single crash.
>>722992830>*unless you have an Nvidia card, whopssssss teehee
>>722995536Oh no, not the hacker who breaks into my house to hack my PCBtw, my PC doesn't have any kind of password
>>722992830Couldn't be meJust updated to win 11 pro and I'm on local
>>722996189Notice how this seemed like worth mentioning. Yes, an operating system should operate without a single crash of any of its component, I agree. But that's not the reality of Linux for the majority.
>>722995648For me I realized I could mount my windows SSD within linux and have access to all my files. So I decided to try using my linux install (dualbooting with two separate ssds) for a week, and in the end I just never ended up going back to windows.
>>722996194ThisWho the fuck has their PC in a public space
I have to login with my Microsoft account to access my Play Anywhere games, so no skin off my ass.
>>722996103Not him but my audio drivers don't crash every 2 hours. In fact I haven't had audio problems on Mint since several major versions ago (around 2019), and even then it was occasional and not a regular thing. So you're basically telling him to come back immediately unless his system is more fucked up than mine ever was.
>>722995791they have an official 37 page ESG document you could download from their website btw lol (don't know if you still can)
>>722996365*scrapes some skin off your ass with a big fucking knife* haha bet you wish you'd upgraded to Windows 11 with Copilotâ„¢ now, bitch
>>722996267You literally asked him to come back when his audio doesn't crash every two hours. So he did.>HURR DURR WHY ARE YOU MENTIONING THAT MY ACCUSATION WAS MADE-UP? HOW EMBARRASSING FOR YOU
>>722996483Yes, I have, and I realize that it wasn't a fair argument. So what?
>>722992830They really removed local accounts? That's crazy. I'm currently on Windows 10 but have no idea what I'm going to use next as my OS.
>>722994934Yes, I just installed Windows 11 last week and I just picked "Domain join instead" and created a local account.Must be a Home Edition problem.
>>722996535>So what?So you lost.
>>722996267Ok retard. Just present the next goal post already.I already passed your 2 hours without audio driver crashing.
>>722996587I thought they discontinued the Hindi Special Education version
>>722996630I'm using Pro and it has the domain join option. You don't actually have to join a domain, it just makes a local account
>>722992830This isnt really minted at you, or me, or anyone here that has ever entered BIOS at least once in their lives. This is for the billions of end users who might have used windows for thirty years, but still need to be reminded what the Start menu is. Microsoft is fighting a war of accessibility against Apple in order to protect the user against themselves. Anyone here can make a W11 bootstick with Rufus and skip everything they don't like. The billions other users who only use Windows for familiy photos, reading news or only pressing "Play" in Steam can't be trusted to not run "totallylegitapplication.ru.exe" they got from pressing "Press here for Download!"
The solution for winfags is building your own ISO with microwin or windows LTSC. A monkey could do it.
>>722994731Which is why if you're not using a password generator, write them down or export them or something.

>>722996716They disabled it entirely, why is it so hard for you botnetheads to understand this?
>>722995409I love it when you talk dirty to me
Somewhat related. I'm afraid to use DDU on my laptop in case it breaks the screen so I cant see anything.
>>722996806Why do you feel the need to comment about something you dont understand? Both of those boot options allow you to make a local account, disable copilot, or even get rid of defender at OS install.
>>722996806>They disabled it entirelyNo they did not. There's a million ways around it still. They disabled ONE command that people were using. They didn't disable audit mode, oobe unnattend, or domain joining.
>>722992830If you're not pirating the LTSC version, you deserve to have your computer be part of M$'s datamining botnet
>>722996692Those people don't even install an operating system. They just buy a computer. If they only wanted to protect idiots without restricting the freedom of experienced users, they could just enshittify OEM installs and leave the manually installed copies of Windows fully functional without the need for hacks.
>>722996806>botnetheadsdefinitely not mad. fairly freaking chill actually...
>>722996617https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/linux.html
>>722995372it does work, but it's not enough to make an os. you gotta get companies to write games for it.
>>722992830Time to switch to Linux after allEven for the lazy me
I used Xubuntu about 10 years ago as a daily driver OS after I learned you couldn't install Vista on HDDs larger than like 512gb. After 3 months, Firefox and Chrome would inexplicably crash, even with a single tab open. I kept getting notifications to download the latest updates for the OS, and the installer would crash too. Now, I'm having an issue with my Debian laptop that's refusing to download updates because the repositories are outdated. I know this can be fixed by simply installing a newer version of Debian, but an OS shouldn't require a fresh install every two years. I've never had this problem on my Windows PCs.
>>722993396Such as? I can play vermin/darktide, insurgency, SM2, and coh3 with Proton and those all have that gay anti-cheat shit. So far the only game that was a bitch was DoW2 because Feral's linux port was shit, worked fine with Proton. Really you can run almsot anything through steam using Proton, even random exes.
Not until steamOS for desktop
>>722996989>Those people don't even install an operating system. They just buy a computer.This. I still remember when my sister was having problems with Safari on her Macbook Pro not opening websites. She was running macOS Mavericks from 2013. I told her she should update to the latest OS and she said "oh, I don't have time for that!"Finally got her to update to the latest version and she was all "Oh! So that's how my friends text from their Mac!", "Oh! I can run the Netflix app now!", "Oh Facebook isn't complaining about my browser being out of date!" and so forth.Normalfags are unreal and I completely understand why Microsoft forces updates down people's throat.
>>722997169Relevance? I run unpatched Windows 7 and 10 machines. idgaf about your enterprise grade security shit.
>>722996838I thought Windows defaulted to the basic display driver in the absence of targeted drivers, so this won't be an issue?
i used arch linux for a good while but theres some games i play with my irl buddies that linux doesnt like, and i like playing with friends. i just use 11 ltsc with a modded taskbar/start menu and call it a day, i give up on ricing my machine
>>722997273>Not until steamOS for desktopWhat the fuck is taking so long anyway
>>722994742Literally any version of Linux using the KDE interface.
>>722997273Not happening. SteamOS was built specifically for the steamdeck and proton. It will never be for general desktop use because Valve doesnt want to deal with the headache of various hardware configurations. The steamdeck is standardized and therefore easy to maintain.
>>722996193Thats on nujudea not linux
>>722997340>I run around naked, wild and free, look at how childish one can be!Okay, the idea here is that serious people interested in Linux want it to be a serious system that's up to the modern industry standards. That's not the case, even if you "harden" it it still pales in comparison to old Android phones.
>>722997384
I thought they already did that a long time ago. The last time I had to installed Windows 11 was at work for a fully airgapped machine and I had to start the install, enter a key press to bring up a terminal enter some cheat code, and restart the machine, then do a sequence to allow a local account.

The main reason I don't jump to linux is I have a bunch of random bullshit niche programs that would be a nightmare to work with it. If I just played video games and youtube all day and nothing else I'd swap in a heartbeat.
>>722998269nobody mentioned the enterprise market. still, why not ask yourself why you apparently have to install the business edition to use what i'm assuming is your home PC

What some fags don't seem to get is that there is no reason to get rid of Windows 10.11 only exists to restrict (even more than 10 already did) you and adds shit like even more telemetry. 11 adds nothing that 10 couldn't already do, except take away even more control from you.>forced updates IMMEDIATELY, can't delay them like in 10>even more spyware shit>no local account, workarounds are getting harder and harder to do>you (officially) NEED new hardware to use it>they outright lied about 10 being the "last version of windows"That's why this time is different than before. Everyone has their limit, 10 was mine. It took me 2-3 years to switch from 8.1, and only because I could tweak 10 to my liking still, 11 is ACTIVELY trying its best to prevent any of that.

If you heard otherwise, it was because Windows shills who never touched Linux like to throw everything and see what sticks, e.g. this schizo babble over here >>723001093 in addition to all the conflicting claims of what Linux supposedly can and can't do.>It only runs popular games!>It only runs indie games!>It only runs new games!>It only runs old games! All bullshit. The only categorical statement you can make is that it's less likely to work with online games, specifically those which rely on anti-cheat middleware that either blocks Linux outright or needs to check things that Linux won't allow. A number of single-player games also don't work for various reasons, invariably related either to proprietary video codecs or bad development practices i.e. using Windows API hacks too obscure to be implemented in Wine, but it's not just the old games or just the new games or anything like that. There's no reliable data on what percentage, because ProtonDB only lists Steam games and a ton of those games don't have any sufficiently recent reports while WineHQ AppDB is practically dead so the few reports there are even less likely to be up-to-date, not to mention ProtonDB's method of coming up with average ratings is highly questionable at best. You'll just have to look up some games you like and read the recent reports to see how compatible they are.
>>722999765This is such a fucking lie. it's not just open app store and click install. You're lying like all the fucking youtubers who shill all the fucking shit flavors of the month
>>723005014I had a dual boot but windows 10 shat itself even after making sure encryption and quick start-up was disabled before formatting my linux drives and asked me to sign up for a new local account every time i booted my windows drive in BIOS.unless windows 10 is essential save the headache and toss it, it will break eventually.
>>723005324>it's not just open app store and click install.with flatpaks it is nowi fucking hate it
another thread of loonixtards FAILING and FLAILING to get people to use linux lmao
>>723005324>it's not just open app store and click installThis. Linux Mint's software manager technically isn't a "store" at all. It's just a front-end for a package repository and everything is free.
>>723005447why would they even try to get people to use it anyways? Isn't it like something you want to gatekeep?
>>723004889It's easy man, you just>download an .iso from Microsoft>but make sure to get my special snowflake IOT LTSC version>burn it on to bootable media>boot in to the installer>use the terminal to bypass online account creation>(but make sure to use the most up-to-date method since it gets patched)>click through all the settings and install>boot into windows>download this debloating script from github to remove some of the spyware and advertising>run it in an elevated powershell>edit the registry to disable more spyware and restore the old context menus>defer updates for 2 weeks>edit the registry again after updates add even more spyware and pride month bannersIt Just Works, unlike troonix.
>>722992830linuxfags are dishonest and pretty much evil they will lie and deceive by telling you everything just works its just as good or better than windows and when that turns out to not be the case they will lash out and attack you
>>723005053Krita has a couple of issues. >typesetting is ass>default brush selection is meh>brushes have a dotting issueKrita doesn't come close when it comes to filters or 3d wrapping and can't do animations.
>>723004889That hasn't been a thing since XP, but also nowadays you can't proceed a Windows installations without Internet.(1 hour worth of spyware installation process ahead)
>>723005529You can literally just see for yourself but you're too scared or stupid to set it up LOL
>>723004276the thing is that in mint you can recover by general terminal (by installing a good kernel) if you are advanced, if not these types of bad updates (which can even be caused by specific settings like secure boot or things like that) can be solved by using a live usb which can let you update correctly by having an environment to keep using the system for info or simply to get specific files to update to the good kernel or even reinstall if the issue is too extreme. windows only gives you a reinstall and normally by the updates being cycle dependent rather than original file you will be fucked by being forced the same update which borked your pc (which normally is a general os failure which fucks with everything) so you cannot escape the situation on the first place.Linux has a lot of options ranging from easy to hard, windows only has one option which is made shit by retarded functionality on the system, still that issue in mint was wrong and is good that it got solved by fixing a bad update
>pc dying as win11 comes outgood way for me to stop gaming forever i guess
>>723005559>typesetting is assthis still mindboggles me. like howalso yeah default brushes are meh.
>>723005559i'd rather blender than try to get animations working in krita
>I AM GETTING ADS ON WINDOWS 10How? Only way this is possible if you bought some prebuild with a bunch of shit preinstalled I think? If you got an actual ad then click it to remove it from your task screen and uninstall it.
>>722992830I already use linux as my main OS, windows I've been using just for games for quite some time and the restrictions 11 wants are basically unworkable, Secureboot is shit I refuse to enable that which effectively restricts your device to only booting operting systems that MS has signed and cleared as okay and I won't enable TPM because that's just a backdoor to DRM and MS being able to hardware ban PCs. People that upgrade to 11 and enable either of those two things are fucking retarded.
>>723004839you don't have to do this, unless you are opening the system (which in the solution is to reinstall if you fucked everything and you don't know how to fix) you never have to fix it, in windows opening the system is impossible and you don't even need to by the system breaking itself for you without doing anything (and you cannot fix it unless you know 4 commands with perfect requirements to fix and the syntax of eso lang autism while making normally reinstall harder or simply not fixing anything on certain cases, linux always let the reinstall happen and has general 1 to 2 command fixes if you go for the advanced route so it's easy in the easy way and in the hard way, unlike windows).Aka windows breaks itself, linux even if hit with a hammer can be fixed easily while not breaking itself so you don't even have to troubleshoot on the first place.
>>723005960Do you have any experiences to share on that?Last time I tried I was running 8gb of ram so I thought Krita was shitting the bed because of it, now I have 32 but I haven't tried yet.
>>723005559Krita does better animation than photoshop. When I last used photoshop it barely had any animation capabilities. No onionskinning, no easy framerate adjustment, a barely functioning timeline. You had to type in the duration of each frame.
>>723006306Why would you use a drawing program with animation shit tacked on, instead of a dedicated animation suite?
>>7230062352d in blender is confusing and you will have to watch tuts. you are klnd of projecting on a 2d target screen in 3d space. my experience is with making animated assets that get composited on top of live video for educational content. if you've never used blender it will take awhile. it's still less janky than trying it in gimp.
>>722992830Just tested it with a ISO extracted from microsoft, still works. They only blocked one of them, and not even the usual OOBE\BYPASSNRO that is used the most or rufus ISO editing one.
>>723005528>Just go here and there and run random shit created by neet Pajeets on Github, then go to registry to nerd out more and then just run this esoteric command that you don't fully understand then do this..Yeah you're describing the troonix experience pretty much
>>723006235fuck, forgot to mention blender runs on nodes so if you are used to layers like after effects that might be a dealbreaker for you
>>723006434>dedicated animation suiteLike what? Any dedicated animation software is really expensive or has really lousy drawing tools. Krita is a good drawing software and you don't need much for animation, just a working timeline and layers.
>>723003951its open source moron
