He’s not written well in Adventure either because every character has to go through the Echidna tribe’s downfall segment which should matter most for knuckles but his revelation both externally and internally is the same as everyone else’s, and his story ends with him still going “I don’t know why I’m here” even though we saw more of why he was here.

Sonic Heroes has Tails and Knuckles right with Sonic as they travel the world, fighting against Eggy's army, with Tails providing a vital role in the team. The three of them had THE REAL SUPERPOWER OF TEAMWORK :D and managed to overcome everything, with the three of them going Super and challenging Metal Overlord and winning.
