The MMOdventure is going to play Perpetuum for the next two weeks, check it out if you'd like.https://store.steampowered.com/app/223410/Perpetuum/We've got a corporation: Happy Merchants Inc.To join hit the search icon in the top left of the terminal and search for corporation SHKL.>What is it?An EVE-like sandbox MMO, with mechs instead of spaceships and islands instead of planets. The official server went offline in 2018 and the game went F2P in 2021. The dev released the server files and source code to allow the community to continue working on the game, and occasionally posts bugfixes.>ServerOpen Perpetuum (OPP) - https://openperpetuum.com/They've been around since 2018, the height of the server's activity was around 2021-2023. Currently it sits around 5-10 concurrent players, dunno how multiboxers are counted on Steam Charts.>Accounthttps://register.openperpetuum.com/Register on the OPP website or in game when it prompts you to login. OPP can be found in Perpetuum's server list and added to your favorites.>MiscDon't say gamer words in world chat, it gets piped into the OPP shitcord and they might ban you.Perpetuum official guide: (outdated, more info): http://www.perpetuum-online.com/LexiconOPP Wiki (more accurate to the private server, unfinished): https://perpetuum.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_PageNoob guide: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIKsf2nlMdD9LkjQnUhZ4Ze3BmGaXrgRm

bots at night
>>724867291im teasing anyway gl with your game
spooky bots
back-to-back bots
I don't really get the deeper mechanics yet, but I'm having fun shooting up some low level bots.
>>724867623thanks champ. this dead game's gonna need it
>>724869217
>>724869217It's nice to have games that just put you in the world and say "go", letting you figure out what you want to do and how to do it.
We have a corporation. You must apply to it to join, use the binoculars button in the upper left to search for it.
>>724870679that's what I'm going to do today. figure out what exactly I'm even grinding these terrible assignments for.
>>724875301beegr rawbuts
>>724876749only 65 million NIC bucks
The games OST is available for free on bandcamp. Some nice ambient drones, breakbeats, even a bit of psych rock.https://perpetuummusic.bandcamp.com/music
>>724877996Huh that's pretty cool, this game has some good tunes.
What do you do with all the plasma? Can you craft something with it? It's such a common resource, I imagine it has some use.
>>724880560I've been selling it, which I will no doubt regret later. It's the most valuable commodity I've found.
these squad combat mission droids are messing me up
>>724866978But do I have to register for the servers even if I join on Steam?
>>724883771Yeah, you install the game through Steam, but you play on the servers it finds when it connects, so you have to register on the Open Perpetuum website in the OP.
>>724881042From what I've seen, they don't appear as materials for crafting, they're not used in refining and cannot be recycled either.
>>724881042>>724885593I'll come back and complain when we end up needing this plasma I've just sold.
wtf i never heard of this one, is it fun?
>>724888197It's entertaining in that you're free to earn money and develop your specializations however you want, in a very "free-form" way. The menus are really complicated at first, but you get used to it. Personally I find the grind a bit excessive, though.
How's the mech customization? Is it War Robots-style weapon swapping or do you actually get to build it part by part like in Armored Core or Chromehounds?
>>724889456You just swap weapons (or harvesting/mining gear), sadly. There is a good number of robots to acquire, but you don't get to change anything outside of that.
>>724889456you buy a chassis and then everything else is done by installing different modules pretty much. stealth modules, electronic warfare, weapons, sensor improvements, shields, armor manipulation etc.
pretty comfy that the devs allowed community servers after the game got discontinued
>>724895572It's the most wholesome way to discontinue possible. Going free to play, open-source and connecting to community servers straight from the game's main menu.
Has anyone tried buying at a terminal and reselling at a different one? Is it lucrative?
Sgt. Bonnies stronghold has me beat. I'm getting absolutely bootyblasted by energy drains and sensor disruption.
>>724899064As far as I can tell there are no automated economies that can be exploited. The transport economy seems to be designed for a larger population, where people might actually be producing one thing in one place that is needed by someone else in a different place.
>>724899064purchase price seems to be about 10 times of the sale price
