The game split into three categories. The first one is the whole villager and NH customization management. You find villagers you like (this will become a picky issue later), you do their chore for money, you fix up their homes and the village, and all that stuff. They have a friendship bar that tell you if they like you or not. Do stuff for them and they like you more.The next part is the crafting/farming/exploration. You are given a boat. You travel to many islands and find many resources to make stuff on your village. You also dive underwater for those kinds of stuff. Eventually, you will start seeing these island as less of an exploration and more of just finding and gathering materials. Eventually, you can start making robots that do the gathering for you, but you're still at the mercy of doing all the farm work.Now why would you do all this? This is what the third part is: Tourist Sim management. You are in charge of making your Island a Tourist trap. You use all those materials and food to sell food, craft entertainment, and set up important hotpots. Remember that part where I told you that you might get picky with certain villagers? Well you can make the villagers you find and invite from other island to work as your wage slave. The best one will give you the best result while the one that hate their jobs will deliberately sabotage their attempt aka less money. You do all this to get more $$$ to buy more upgrade to allow you to get more tourist and so on. It has a gameplay cycle that loops around. This alone can take a good chuck of time. I drop about 196 hours into the game and it was worth the 25 dollars I spent on it.

What would make a good "AC" romance game? What would be the goal exactly? Having villagers be random would be detrimental to any form of attachment or character building since they would fall into a soulless template. And having everyone be a romance option would be very difficult and end up being similarly shallow (annoys me when you can build up relations with multiple characters and ultimately picking one doesn't devastate the other)
I like kemololi, but there are only a handful of artists who I like, and even then their uploads are becoming increasingly scarce.AI is very good at filling this niche.

For the clones I have seen of AC it almost always tries to include Harvest moon elements as well. Which is fucking dumb because not everything needs crafting or farming shit.
