same thing for witness, hundreds of thousands of dollars for some line puzzles that could've been a mobile game

He's the only person relevant to this game.

can't wait for his gameplay analysis video
>>
Looks good, plus it filters niggers and their worshippers (they don't understand games without a gun or a ball in it) and bluesky fags (boycotting because of politisperg convictions).
>>
>>729082331
It really couldn't have been a mobile game. The map is pretty big and the graphics are too much for that era's phones.

wow, how incredibly original, this would be like making a platformer where north is Mario world, south is sonic world, west is crash world and so on and si forth, how absolutely uninspired and devoid of creativity, why wouldn't I just play those originals then? why bother with this shit at all?

We endured the wait, the radio silence, the vaporware allegations... and now the gates are opening. Blowbros, it’s finally time. We ride.
>>
>>729083374
>why wouldn't I just play those originals then?
1) The puzzles are 3D, not just graphically, but they have height.
2) Interplay of mechanics from those 4 games.
>>
I wish we had a launch month. Or at least a launch season. If not a release date.
2026 is very broad.
>>
>>729083374
Also, all of those games are really short. It's not like Order of the Sinking Star is competing with free browser games, it's just more and better of them. Play them too, they are great.
>>
>>729084223
I wish it was releasing on the NS2.
I'll get it for PC. But Steam Decks / etc are expensive, and I like playing my puzzle games handheld.
What's more. I bet the game will release for the NS2, but after I've already gotten it for and played it on PC. But it is what it is I guess.
>>
THERE AINT NO POINT TO THE GAME
>>
>>729084223
There wasn't a month given because they still have a lot of work to do. The voice acting in the trailer was just for the trailer, and the fogged over areas in the overworld colored cubes instead of proper models.
>>
>>729085265
What are the chances of the game somehow missing the 2026 release goal altogether?
>>
>>729085705
NTA but I'd say low
Blow does not often make public announcement that can fail

Not 0. He talked about it in an interview. If it's a choice between delaying and cutting content, he'll delay.

The original only has 24 levels. And it's 2D.
>>
>>729087958
Did he, though? Based on that one video alone, it just seemed like he was sad that people liked Braid only because it's a fun puzzle platformer with time bullshit instead of its artistic merit. To be fair, I also didn't care about the "themes" and "undertones" of Braid. And I didn't listen to any of the audio logs in The Witness after the first few. I've read that Order of the Sinking Star will have a lot more concrete narrative than Blow's previous games, so I hope it won't be to its detriment.

Why is this game shilled so heavily here?
Did Blow hire some guerrilla marketing agency?
>>
>>729091145
No, it's mostly just me. Although I didn't make this particular thread. I'm genuinely just looking forward to the game and wanted to talk about it.
>>
>>729091145
Who knows how the quality will actually measure up in the end.
But in terms of scope it might be the biggest game of the genre, maybe ever. And it is heavily, heavily inspired by some beloved examples of the genre. Which bodes well Blow's game doesn't get stale or runs off the rails completely.

Why wouldn't fans of the genre be interested in the game?
What games of the genre do you think deserve attention instead?
I do know other games of the genre I think deserve attention, but I don't see why I couldn't or wouldn't be interested in all of them. I am.

What do we think of Stretchomancer?
For better or worse it seems to be very Portal inspired, albeit without portals.

Tangentially related. What do we think of Compress(space)?
Revolves around the same gimmick pretty much, but 2D. Wouldn't shock me if it ends up being a lot more hardcore than Stretchomancer, but I'm pretty excited for both and hope both end up good.

Hey, its title on Steam was changed recently, and apparently it's developer also worked on Order of the Sinking Star.

He also links some puzzle screenshots that Blow posted that he worked on.

Tall.

>>729100397
Looks like it has Patricks Parabox syndrome where it has a neat gimmick but is also limited by the gimmick and will be way too easy
>>
>>729101339
The potential of the gimmick might be kind of limited. In that there might only be so and so many puzzles of interest that you can do with it, and once you've familiarized yourself with the mechanics, like say a rubik's cube, solving one cube won't really be any more complex than solving 8. 8 will just demand more busywork.
But I don't know. I'm hoping it might surprise.

I certainly feel like Stretchomancer might have a more potential for puzzles than Compress(space), and would love it if that was the case.
But for some reason I feel like Stretchomancer presents itself as more casual, while Compress(space) would probably want to be hardcore if it can be.
But hopefully both will satisfy. And maybe I shouldn't take Stretchomancer's cartoon frogs and silly voices to mean that the game can't be hardcore.
