Steam Winter Sale ThreadContinuation of the last threadR8 & h8 other anons' threads
i am once again asking anybody who played octopath traveler to tell me if either game is good
>>729503071There is Octopath thread on /vrpg/ they might give an good answer
>>729503071Octopath 1 is barely alright, honestly not worth the time investmentOctopath 2 is one of the best jrpgs in recent years
>>729503071They're solidly mid titles that ware their welcome pretty fastAnything Team Asano touches is mid to bad, Triangle Strategy being bad
Is the Cyberpunk DLC worth it lads?I finally have a PC that can run the game with all the good stuff like path tracing
>>729502950Megabonk gives me the ick.
I bought a racing wheel as a self-christmas present. What are the best racing games? Doesn't have to be cheap, but that's a bonus.
>>729503351BallisticNG.
>>729503071Here’s what I recommend: OT1 then Zero then 2> OT1: where the series started, the stories ranged from meh to fine. The super boss plot is where it is at.> OT Zero: a prequel to the main event of the first game. Dropping some nuke lores about certain characters makes you go : THE ACTUAL FUCK ???> OT2: fantastic game and improvement over 1 in every way. A year later they released an additional free postgame to fuck you up… let’s say you’re tasting your own fucking medicine
>>729503071I think you need be a fan of a specific type of RPG to get into them.
>>729503303Well if you enjoyed the base game go for it i personally had ok time with it.
>>729503251oh i forgot all about triangle strategythat might be the connecting fiber between playing a cool-looking pixel rpg and unicorn overlord which i kinda have been wanting to play but i don't have a switch
>>729503401i enjoyed bravely default a lot, and i remember playing final fantasy(1) as a kid, is it anything like that?
>>729503303I found it kinda mediocre with a very unsatisfying ending BUT it also has the only one where V lives so YMMV.
>>729503351just buy all the mainstream ones if money isn't an issue, they're all pretty cheap rn
Anyone played jump space?
>>729503351WreckfestAssetto CorsaDirt Rally 2Forza Horizon 4 (if you can still get it somewhere)
>>729503303desu cyberpunk isn't really worth it
>>729502950Well?
>>729492947 (me)Any open world games rec that i can play while listening to shit ?
>>729503351If you want something semi arcade'ish Wreckfest is really fun>>729503716I approve Dark messiah
>>729503716I had fun playing Messiah and for Asperite i did buy it but i just used it to draw some shit i would say to 1st try some free options in case you are not serious about doing pixel shit
>>729503716Forbidden Gods is good.Search for Death Crown if you want something obscure and unique.
I will get some Resident Evils.
Trying to decide between picking up all the No More Heroes games or Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. Any thoughts, bros?
>>729503716Against the storm is greatJust pirate dark messiah, I doubt the devs would see a penny of that money
Considering Tokyo Xtreme Racer but 50 bones feels a bit too muchConsidering Satisfactory but controller support seems a bit bad
>>729504717>Tokyo Xtreme RacerIt's really fun but could be a $30. For $50 you can get a truckload of Resident Evils.
>>729502950+ Cruelty Squad is arcade Cyberpunk, completely fucking insane, good worldbuilding, very memeable but the gameplay loop is very satisfying. A must play.+ Resident Evil 4 is the perfect balance of horror and action, my favourite RE (given I have only played the classics until 5).// Dragon's Dogma is "japanonsense" in my opinion, it dumbs the ARPG formula down with an arcade flavour that I don't enjoy and the story is really not engaging. I don't understand why /v/ is gushing grannies over this game but whatever man, it's worth playing at this price.>>729503303Everything Cyberpunk is worth it. One of the best games of this decade by a looong long fucking shot.>>729503616+ Deep Rock Galactic is a must play if you have friends, the social factor makes the game super fun but less so with randos. People play this game religiously and even the community is nice, having friends to play with enhances the experience and makes progression easier.>>729503716+ DMoM&M is great, if it doesn't just fucking die mid-game because it runs on an outdated version of Windows or redists or whatever makes the game crash every 2 minutes.+ Steelrising is a great indie souls-like.+ Against the Storm is so fucking peak city-building/colony-sim with rogue elements. Complex mix of flavours but oh so kino and fun.
>>729504717>controller support seems a bit badIf you play on laptop I understand you'd rather play with a controller, but consider getting into M&K especially with a chill game like Satisfactory.
>>729505225I wanted to buy Cruelty Squad and then I saw you compare it to Cyberpunk which is a dogshit game. Thanks for the advice
>>729503303I'd say so. The plot is decent and the new district has a distinct feel from the rest of the world, but the gameplay leans even more towards straight FPS than the main game (which can get very annoying if you're using a stealth/hacking build). Basically if you like the main game, you'll probably like the DLC as well.
>>729505839ntaI haven't played CP77 but I'd compare it to original Deus Ex + tech movement
>>729503716you will probably want the DLCs for against the storm. although maybe not the frog DLC (fuck frogs)
>>729505839It really has next to nothing in common with Cyberpunk. It's more like a Hitman/Deus Ex type affair with more varied movement tech.
It really makes me mad that 3D realms botched that Kingpin Life of Crime remaster. I usually miss whatever discounts come up on the original game and i really just wanted a version that scales for modern resolutions by default from the menu options. They pretty much screwed that rebranded company up anyway. It's just that i don't think the right people took over 3D realms. Having Shelly Bombshell Harris's game under their belt didn't mean they deserved the licenses to all of their stuff. Because it doomed us with that shit remaster.
>>729505923>>729506020Deu Sex and Hitman are some of my favorite franchises. Turned off by the graphics of Cruelty Squad, how much does it lean into the absurd? Or does it start to make sense once you explore the world?
>>729504567 Based take. Dark Messiah is abandonware tier at this point, and it's not like Ubisoft is doing anything respectable with Might & Magic anymore. Against the Storm absolutely slaps too, especially once you start parsing the synergy layers between races and buildings. Super comfy with just enough brain engagement. Honestly one of the few recent games where I lose hours without noticing.
>>729505975Against the Storm is good without the DLC, both DLC are kind of expensive
>>729503351Gensou Skydrift.
>>729503797How in the fuck did someone animate this in flipnote?
>>729503303Cyberpunk is a scam.
>>729506140I think these people are speaking a little out of the ass about comparing an indie game with Deus Ex and Hitman to be honest. Indie devs today are somehow even less capable of slavjank devs of the early 2000s who could actually produce some slightly more primitive version of that.
>>729506140up until late game absurd is only present in conversations and secrets, then for couple of levels it turns into a different gamealso some mechanics are not properly explained or not explained at all like why does your ui changes if you die and what does it mean for you
>>729506524I wish people would stop worshipping indie devs just because most AAA games are bad.
>>729503303Fuck no.
If anyone's looking for a shmup game; This is the most unique and fun shmup I've played, granted I haven't played a LOT of them.https://store.steampowered.com/app/1405500/Angel_at_Dusk/Don't forget to turn on nudity in the options for the full experience
>>729506140It starts out pretty absurd, but still conceptually grounded, but then goes off the rails into some bizarro quasi-gnostic stuff towards the end. It never really devolves into lolrandom-type nonsense though, the world is coherent and makes sense in it's own weird way. Even the garish visual style has an in-universe explanation. The gameplay is genuinely fun, but the crude, experimental style is so central to the overall experience that you can't really ignore it. Basically if you don't (at least on some level) like the way the game looks and sounds, the gameplay alone won't save it for you.
>look at games on sale>unfinished pixelslop>a fucking card game / pixelslop>unfinished pixelslop>ultra HD rtx indie game but it plays like a fucking 2010 3D free android game>”DURRR ITS FUN WITH FRIENDS” streamerslop that’s maybe fun for 20 mins>AAA piece of shit that plays like a mobile game>and more unfinished pixelslopgaming is fucking dead holy shit
>>729506628Most people have disdain for indie and AA though, they only worship the popular titles in those categories. That's why you always hear something similar to "Unlike other indies, X is..."
>>729506670Madness Returns is very repetetive and boring. The only good part about this game is artdirection and even that is a letdown compared to the game's artbook.Play the original if you haven't done it yet.
>>729506524>>729506527>>729506698Thanks fellers. Gonna skip it for now then, got a backlog anyway. Love Steam Sale threads, only place for decent advice and opinions on here
>>729506695Seems interesting, but $8 is too much for a shmup.
>>729506670Ishin remake is a bit underwhelming as far as RGG games. Doubly so if you plan to go for 100%. The grind is something else.
>>729506884Play Jamestown instead. It's really nice.
Does Octopath 0 pick up later on? I played the demo and wasn't sold, all the protagonists were bland and all the villains were retarded caricatures (even compared to 1 and 2). I've seen a lot of people sucking it off saying the writing is better than 1 and 2, but it didn't match my experience of the demo and I'm suspicious I'm being misled by brainwashed mobilefag shiteaters.>>729503071I liked both.
>>729505286I'm a cripple anon I can't play with m+kb anymore sucks to suck
Are Shape of Dreams and Hell Clock any good?
Is Onirism worth it now that it's complete? I like Serious Sam.
>>729506884It's shit. It's a shmup for people who don't like shmups. It's super grindy and forces you to restart, not because you fail as a player but because your weapons can't kill anything after three levels and to equip new ones you need to start over.
>>729506884It's worth it IMO
What do you think?
>>729507023never played hell clock but shape of dreams has a demo. my friend and I enjoyed the demo so much that buying it was a no brainer.
>>729507023>>729507679Currently playing SoD with a friend. I rarely like this type of gameplay loop
>>729507756WAs mid boss fight typing that, I rarely like this type of game, but the gameplay loop is nice
>>729504717>Considering Tokyo Xtreme Racer but 50 bones feels a bit too muchJust get a bunch of other racist games. Xtreme Racist is fun but definitely not worth 50 sheckles compared to the other racing games you could buy.
>>729502950Cruelty Squad is one of those games people seem to either love or hate. If the graphics didn't turn you off already, you MIGHT like it. I wound up loving it, but I can easily see why some people hate it.
OG RE4 (with re4tweaks) or the remake?
>>729507436Chernoblyte and Zombie Army 4 are very boring and genericPostal Brain Damaged follows the boomer shooter formula but doesn't do anything special with it, dropped it before even reaching the 2 hour markI'd say not to get the Deluxe Edition for Doom Eternal, but it's very cheap, so go for it. I really liked the main campaign, but thought the DLCs were just meh
This game any good? I'm in the mood for something zombies.
>>729508167Both are good, but if you're only doing one it should be the OG
>>729508167Why not both?
>>729503351I also just got a wheelBeam.ng is fun but getting the force feedback settings dialed in has been difficult.Dirt Rally 2.0 has been loads of fun and where I've been spending most of my time. Assetto Corsa is good but the base content seems limited. There are lots of mods though, the games like 10 years old afterall. Assetto Corsa Evo/Rally are both in early access but grabbing them on sale now might be worth it. Forza Horizon 4 was fun on my steamdeck but I haven't tried it on the wheel yet. I heard it's more arcadey than the other titles mentioned.
>>729508157>he's still posting it over a decade laterhonestly, impressive devotion.
>>729508052Nta but is it leReddit anticapitalism?
>>729503071the sooner you quit JRPGslop the better
>>729508448Thanks anon
Bought myself a Steam deck for Christmas and it gets here after New Year's. Gib recommendations.
>>729508167Remake is honestly terrible full of censorship and a huge step down in gameplay, plus you have to buy dlc to get the full experience. If I were you I'd go with OG so i get my money's worth.
>>729509771you forgot to mention atrocious Ada va in english dub
>>729506994>Does Octopath 0 pick up later on?Let's just say shit goes from 'Find the fuckers who destroyed Wishvale' to 'If you try to mantle god, by The Flamebringer I will give you a taste of my Staff' to 'Oh... We're in super hell fighting god again.. shit'
>>729509724>Steam deckWhat a waste of money
>>729509862How so? My brother has one and it's pretty neat.
>>729509724>Gib recommendations.A good large sized micro SD card then fill it with roms, the deck is an amazing emulation system.
>>729509849This. Re4 Demake is just inferior.
>>729509724Nuclear ThroneWreckfestParking Garage RallySpelunky 1 or 2PaperballBomb Rush CyberfunkNew Star GPLonely Mountains DownhillYellow Taxi goes VROOMMonster Hunter World or RiseNoitaNuclear BlazeTerrariaStardew ValleyThe Surge 1&2SpiritfarerHobPersonally I don't like FPS on the deck at all. Also I'd mostly stay away from graphically demanding games. It makes the fan go vroooooooooooo to much and drains the battery real quick.
>>729509724Steamworld gamesall relatively short and cheap, light in terms of hardware requirements, don't dump exposition on you and are fun to play
Any shmupbro here?Which one?https://store.steampowered.com/app/1718160/Crimzon_Clover_World_EXplosion/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2772080/Crystal_Breaker/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2158550/BIRDCAGE/
>>729509942b/c it's weak asf. Rog ally is a better handheld in almost everyway
>>729510240Just gethttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2869510/UNDER_DEFEAT/Also why are shmups so expensive?
>>729503071Final fantasy for zoomers. Imagine ff1-6 getting 3d unreal engine treatment + fully voiced cast, that's octopath traveler
>>729503303I enjoyed Cyberpunk and I will buy the DLC at some point but the fact they're giving some jewish 30% off on 2 year old DLC after already selling 10 million copies is garbage.I'll buy it when it's properly discounted.
Is it good? Interested by the edition with all DLC, to play it on the Steam Deck Oled.
thinking about >CP2077>KCD 1>HROT>animal well>System Shock remakeany info on those?
>>729510267When it's not dying due to Windows shitting itself
>>729510464Nope. Probably one the most moralfaggot vidya of all time, their gimmick worn out quickly after people realize that killing npc is fun than succumbing to their moralfaggot design
>>729510592So should I just buy it to have fun playing as a massive survivor prick ?
>>729510546KCD takes time to get used to and you may drop it out of frustration but I have a kink for games that require you to master them. So I had a lot of fun with it. It's also very beautiful and extremely comfy. In certain aspects the game reminded me of Gothic 1 in a good way.System Shock Remake is a solid remake that tried to keep the game very close to original without attempting to reinvent it. And for some it's a bad thing since they'll the game as dated in terms of gamedesign. I loved it.But it's worth mentioning that as always remakes are nor replacements for original games. And this remakes misses some features from SS1. Still a good job. I strongly prefer SS1 and Remake to SS2.
>>729510240Best advice is to download the demos and see for yourself, nobody can decide better than you do. That's what I do for shmups especially since they're mostly small in size.
Do drop-in multiplayer games still exist in the present day?I'm trying to browse the multiplayer category on steam, but it's all either>Literally just single player games with some optional mp mode>dead MMOs>Competitive matchmaking>FriendslopIt feels like the only bastion of what I'm looking for is the "3/4 player horde combat" sub-genre, but i've already played pretty much everything in it.The "single player games with some optional mp mode" ones are especially obnoxious and make the steam game browser basically unusable. Like no Gabe, grand strategy games, Crpgs, roguelites etc. do NOT belong in the fucking multiplayer section. Is there a way to somehow edit the steam search to make "multiplayer" the primary qualifier?
>>729510546animal well is less as a metroidvania but more of puzzle gamethe game has post-game puzzle that is almost impossible to solve alone to you can just ignore thatotherwise it's great
Has the Gex collection been fixed?
>>729510723No. If this is like 2019 I probably going to say to you to just try it, but this is sadly 2025 abouttobe 6, and the answer is no
>>729510464it's a decent "one playtrough" experience despite devs trying to make it into "multiple runs" game by randomizing survivors, events, loot and set pieces in locations you raidit's way too rigid and scripted to be enjoyed more than once
>>729510546CP77 is decent so long as you know what you're getting into (linear story, solid but shallow gameplay and a very pretty gameworld).Hrot is pretty dull visually but plays very well and has a lot of weird humor and environmental detail in it which I liked a lot. Eastern block Quake with vaguely build-esque level design basically.I haven't played the SS remake yet, but if you haven't played the original I'd recommend going through that first since the Enhanced Edition is perfectly playable on modern PCs.
>>729509859Are you pitching that as a good thing or a bad thing, or just a matter of taste? I never cared for the fighting-god shit in the first two, I liked it best when it was just a collection of simple but endearing stories about likeable characters with goals like "get revenge on the guy who killed your family" or "get your identity and memories back" or "make an absolute ton of money". I regretted bothering with the secret boss in OT1, and I actually never bothered finishing the final boss in OT2 after reaching it.
>>729510781>And for some it's a bad thing since they'll find the game dated in terms of gamedesign.fix
Which bundle should I get?
>>729511038>Are you pitching that as a good thing or a bad thing, or just a matter of taste?Yes
>>729511343
>>729511172I had more fun with VS than STS.
>>729510892Play Deep Rock Galactic.
>>729503303Yes, it hits very hard, and they've clearly learned some lessons about how CP2077 should play.
I think i'm gonna buy Shadow of the Erdtree and Underrail
