The obsession this particular board has with Renee, and the subsequent shit Nemlei gets, is frankly bizarre because it seems to stem from a fundamental misunderstanding of what the game is even about. People asking for Renee routes then getting mad at the creator for not providing it is the clearest example: The idea that the game is a male-oriented romance in which the player, self-inserting as Andrew, romances the women in his life is directly contradicted both by Nemlei and the game itself, given that Ashley not only is the first playable character, but also the original intended protagonist of the game's draft. Coffin is a romance, yes, a gothic romance meant to appeal to mentally ill girls that thanks to some clever writing and good designs captured a whole new audience. Renee herself appears for very little of chapter 2 and her role is wholly antagonistic: Indifferent at best and sociopathic at worst, she dies in both routes regardless of one's actions. She shows no caring instinct, has no teasing with Andrew, gets no dramatic flashbacks that show signs of a deeper relationship and rather is violently loyal to her husband during her death scene. The only scrap here is that she had a better relationship with Andy, yet that's hardly one or two lines in between open manipulation, indifference or cruelty. >But Ashley's a shitYes! She absolutely is and you are right... But that's not the point. The point is that the game was wholly designed around her relationship with Andrew and as a dark romance for women. She and the lanky brooding dude are the point and from chapter 1 get all the development. The game is not a dating sim. I guess my point is: Do you guys actually like the game? My question is sincere, because it seems to me that everything you like is wholly limited to Renee's design. Nothing else has a basis in what we actually see in the story, not even the demands for new routes.

it's a very good story with two protagonists so horrible it's amazing to watch, I wouldn't even call it a video game though, it's basically just an animated novel but with some token flash game tier puzzles thrown in

This game unironically has one of my most favourite writing in any games I've played. I like it almost as much as Disco Elysium.
