I think the combat is fun; it's simple but the way the different elements interact with each other feels pretty dynamic. The actual mewgenics part feels lacking though. I don't feel like I have much control over trying to breed the optimal army of cats and trying to sort through the shitload of cats you quickly amass for the best ones to keep is mind numbing. An emphasis on more selectively breeding smaller batches of cats instead of just churning out dozens and dozens of kittens to be flushed down the tubes would feel better.

Clerics seem really underpowered. Reviving doesn't reverse the injury, and you can get so many healing items and skills anyways. For me, it's tank/ranger/thief/mage because dead enemies is better than shitty healing

In Mewgenics, on top of layouts and items being random.>Stats are random.>Whether or not cats even breed is random.>Skills are drawn from a huge random deck.>Skill inheritances are completely random.>Events that can give you permanent debuffs are forced, and random. It feels way too fucking RNG to be able to make any tactical decisions. I might get lucky on a run, with a cat that can create puddles and another that can freeze or electrify them, but I might just get shit draws with no viable synergies, a forced random event that turned my best fighter into a retard, an injury that turns him into a gimp, or whatever else. Shit, in Isaac, if you were dropped into a bullshit room, you could bomb the door and get out of there.

This game is not good. You have to make way too many decisions before you get to even start a run. And unlike traditional SRPGs you don't need to learn each unit's abilities/stats once, you have relearn them each run. You might find the novelty fine now but it will get mentally exhausting over time. There's too much minmaxing.

I got this event in my first few days, and I'm really, really wondering how it's going to warp my first playthrough. Cancer gives -3 random stats after every battle and then a random mutation. Mutations are almost always better than not, but the highly-irradiated cats will likely have relatively crappy stat inheritance. All the same, I'm going to try to speedrun making crawling The Thing horrors.
