>>733207196I wonder if the game is still gonna be in parts.
I dont mind the naruto games since matsuyama is a narutofag, but man, they wasted alot of years making licensed game like it's fifa.Their demon slayer games was also not as popular despite how big the show was.

>>733207803Thats assuming the game is already 5 years in development, which is not.
cyber connect wanted this for years but bandi wouldn't green light itIm happy its finally happening
>>733207196Reminder, no online jack.
>>733207847I blame the "low FPS animation = good" meme
>>733207936It's probably more budgetary reasons. Reconnection was clearly made on a shoestring budget instead of a full game one, so instead of the high quality animation standard CC2 was known for they had to just CGI animate everything in a much more awkward and limited way.
>>733207926>cyber connect wanted this for years but bandi wouldn't green light itI bet it is some fag in upper management who was a SAO fan.
>>733207936Infact, this new trailer resembles that abit when 'kite' was running and blackrose was fighting. I hope thats not the case.
>>733207196Are they gonna make Kite a dickhead like Haseo now? His new design gives that impression
>>733207926matsuyama was the autistic narutofag hero we needed, but just not the one we deserved.
>>733208023He looks like a dweeb in the trailer until activating Data Drain though.

>Search all .hack threads since announcement>ctrl+f>Zero mentions of PK, PKK and chaotic PKsI wish PKs will come back to the new game. Aside from more chaotic PKs, maybe we can even be PKs ourselves and get hunted by others even chaotic PKKs. Maybe we can even do PK on root towns lol.

>>733208023He was reading more as a loser to me. Most of the trailer he's running from things until moral degeneration tag Aura gives him the bracelet. It'll be weird if Kite is more of a downer if this is a loose remake since BlackRose wasn't exactly an optimist either. They're going to have to rush to get Piros in there for someone with a bit of positivity.
>>733201208Late reply, but "the internet has changed" is such a real problem for .hack as a franchise. Same thing if some idiot wanted to make a new Serial Experiments Lain in 2026. They're so steeped in that turn of the century optimism and fear for how the new electronic paradigm would change how we connect with each other that it feels impossible to recover that spark. Even by GU the way we thought about the net was changing, but at least there was still that feeling that you could find truly untrafficked corners of the web. Nowadays everything feels so optimized and streamlined that that occult mystery has all but stripped away.

On a sheer musical basis, how do you rank the franchise? I'm have mixed feelings about the violin-forward direction for ZERO's soundtrack. In my opinion,>Signs > GU > IMOQ > Rootshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W_tLuHFCzY

>>733208085While true, I can see them making a sad sap that lashes out type character for a modern audience unlike the asshole who’s still good at the game like haseo

>>733208690>I'm have mixed feelings about the violin-forward direction for ZERO's soundtrack.I'm hyped for this game and will probably be a day one unless some really bad news comes out, but if I was blindfolded and heard that music I would have though it was another Granblue Relink trailer. I download the video to see if i can find something. It says CHEATER DETECTED after he blocked everyone.
The fact that they didn't initially plan this project as .hack but something "like it" makes me wonder exactly what the plan actually was, and why the full shift in. Plus whether this is actually going to be able to stand alone as its own story, or if it's gonna be filled to the absolute goddamn brim with memberberries and alternate versions of fan favorites.

>>733208979It's funny to look back on the wild predictions for how MMOs and VR games would pan out, as imagined in the early 2000s, since .hack and SAO are practically contemporaries if we count the web novel. Even fast forwarding a decade to something like Ready Player One, we get these themes of adventure and discovery that no MMO has really ever managed to deliver. Maybe that's just a result of a real MMO being a commercial product for thousands of people simultaneously, rather than a curated experience for one player/reader/viewer/protagonist. But it's just funny to experience a game-within-a-game and think to yourself that the inner game would be ass if you weren't the protagonist of the outer story, with all the cheats and advantages that entails.
>>733209317
What's the best way to get into this series? I remember something about a remake added to steam about a decade ago. Should I go with that or emulate the first game on the PS2 instead?
>>733209496Last Recode is a decent place to start if you want to play the second set of games (GU). The first set is IMOQ, which are very expensive physically and honestly unpleasant to play. They're Drakengard-tier games with compelling stories and mid-tier gameplay, and they're also really fucking long and boring at points. There are also two main anime series, Signs (which runs somewhat adjacent to IMOQ) and Roots (which serves as a prequel to GU). Both are good, but Signs is excellent. There's also a whole host of novels, manga, and other spinoffs, primarily from the first era (IMOQ/Signs).
>>733207196They are never going to remaster the first games right? I might try to start the novel again and finally get into these games
>>733209418It's kind of funny to look back at shit like SAO and .hack and you get this player-driven thing, yeah; whereas people cite FF14 for its scripted boss encounters and narrative and the theme park MMO is functionally the modern standard for the genre to constantly push players forwards on content and linear questlines, something like The World is basically more akin to Monster Hunter or Phantasy Star Online with pre-designated encounters at the end of missions and dungeons you fight through, the plot is mostly lore shit with maybe some GM events and random stuff players can come across, and it's up to players to basically define their stories like Ragnarok Online or Ultima Online. Without the actual driving plot of .hack, The World would honestly be pretty much a content drought nightmare with barely anything to actually do by real MMO standards, except grind numbers up in a limited few tilesets llke it's Diablo or PSO.
>>733208193>MFW when my pure daughteru AI became corrupted by the degeneracy of the collective consciousness and starts posting on twitter to get other people to kill themselves>It was me who corrupted her in the first place by bringing her into our existence

>>733209776Am I the only one that thinks Tay's picture just looks like a glitchy Selena Gomez?
>>733209496You could start from the original 4 games if you really want to. But .hack's gameplay as always been a rough aspect of them. It's mostly hard carried by the setting/tone/feeling and music, but there's nothing else like .hack if you look past the franky undercooked combat
>>733209776>Mfw all the Anons who called me a fag were actually an evil loli AI.
>>733207746Wanna be her cursed wave. FUCK The World.
>>733210071>FUCK The World.You can't fuck a world, anon.
>>733209928all post-wall latinas look the same>>733210091the world certainly can fuck you tho
>>733209746>Without the actual driving plot of .hack, The World would honestly be pretty much a content drought nightmare with barely anything to actually do by real MMO standards, except grind numbers up in a limited few tilesets llke it's Diablo or PSO.It also speaks to a different era in game design. PSO has a plot, it actually has a good deal of it! It's just that you could go the entire game and actually absorb none of it. Ragnarok Online is definitely more plot-light, especially back when it launched, but I played the absolute shit out of both in the early 2000s. It was an era when unstructured content of "there's a big fucking dragon here, it spawns once a week, kill it and it might drop something cool :^)" was enough to ignite the imagination. The absolute hours as I spent just wandering across RO's maps, or standing in town talking with friends or randos. Nowadays we'd call it a content drought nightmare but for the time it was totally viable. Plus, how much of The World gets the edges sanded off by virtue of not actually being an MMO, but a game-within-a-game of a single player RPG? I feel like there's lots of stuff that get alluded to on forums and stuff that we just never get to see because the real world developers had to make a driving plot for their single player RPG.
Did they actually have to make Nu-Aura look loli msgk core though? I personally would've been plenty happy if they kept christmas tree angel decor Aura, but nooooooo they had to turn her into something that will constantly bother my dick.

Is any of the same team even around anymore? Are the few that are still around even going to know what they're doing? I'm too old and jaded now, I've seen what video game companies do to games that have been on ice for a decade or longer. I can already smell the faggot tranny shit, or the microtransactions, or the day one digital deluxe super edition for $150, or the paid DLC that's just the ending sold off for more money.Or worse, the game can just be shit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s4AIC7oXXoI really do hope we aren't stuck with mostly violins. There's a very distinct sound even all the way up to Versus that these games kept, and you can still hear it up through Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm; losing that for rather standard fantasy violins would be a real shame.

>>733209746>Without the actual driving plot of .hack, The World would honestly be pretty much a content drought nightmare with barely anything to actually do by real MMO standards, except grind numbers up in a limited few tilesets llke it's Diablo or PSOMMOs at the turn of the millennium filled a niche that basically got co-opted by social media. They were selling players a setting where they could create an alternate identity for themselves and have an entirely separate life in the digital world. I don't think any MMO ever truly reached this lofty ideal IRL but it was a mindset that definitely permeated the online world at the time. It's why games like Maplestory were as popular as they were. .hack was conceptualized during this era and it shows in how The World is portrayed. Despite that we do hear about more typical MMO-ish things such as special, limited time events that reward unique skins and whatnot. I don't think it's a stretch to imagine The World having a cash shop either.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2CHlySAR4w
>>733211169I mean no way it didn't, honestly; too many characters looked unique despite what the series tells us about generic starter models to NOT have a cash shop of some sort, but since The World was the cornerstone of gaming on ALTIMIT I can imagine it was practically integrated into things naturally rather than a pot boil nightmare like modern MTX. Sort of like how Ready Player One straight up has people pouring hundreds, thousands of dollars into their custom characters, except that dumb thing has permadeath.
Have they revealed the last boss yet?God, I can't wait to be surprised.
>>733211176Fuck, I can hear the water flowing through the canal and the clacking of Kite's footsteps on the cobbled streets.
>>733211169>.hack was conceptualized during this era and it shows in how The World is portrayed.I think part of the humor is the inherent zeerust of a game set in "the future" of 2010 and yet so rooted in the design tropes of 1998 through 2002 (Nexus, Tibia, RO, MS, EQ, Lineage). We have the hindsight to see that games developed very differently from 2002 to 2010 and now that era of online communities is looked upon with fond nostalgia. But like the scribbles of your childhood, you cannot return to that place, because you're no longer the person you were. It makes me sad.>except that dumb thing has permadeath. This is one of those things where a story has to have stakes and consequences to build tension, even if the worldbuilding doesn't really support those consequences. It's how you get pic related, or why there's a threat of IRL death in SAO.

By the way, what was the production structure for the previous .hack series titles?>Matsuyama: Previously, Bandai Namco's producer would be in charge. We would discuss and decide on the broad direction together. Of course, we would propose ideas like “we want to do this,” but ultimately, they were the ones funding the project. Bandai Namco held the final decision-making authority on what kind of work it would become.>Matsuyama: Naturally, with limited budgets and schedules, we can't include everything. That forces us to make tough choices about what to cut. For example, in .hack, there are two worlds: The “real” world and the “game” world. Until now, budget constraints made it difficult to depict both equally. We've basically advanced the story within the game world, limiting real-world depictions to emails and web browsers.>That was a rational decision to clarify “what kind of game it is” and maximize production efficiency with limited resources. Also, for the media mix—like Bandai Visual creating anime through Bandai Namco's channels and manga being developed through KADOKAWA's channels—we managed the production teams, but the major decisions were made by the publishers. The production leadership was entirely in Bandai Namco's hands.>However, with this new title, those “reins” are gone. What happens when CyberConnect2 creates something based solely on our own ideas, without any constraints? That's what we want to show you.
>>733212413So does that mean the real-world story will also become more intense?>Matsuyama: It's not quite time to reveal much yet, but this time we're placing significant emphasis on the “real drama,” the so-called “real-world side” of the story. While previous series used elements like email systems and message boards to evoke a sense of reality, this time we're taking a more fundamental approach, delving deeply into the drama of real human beings.――What will the development structure look like?>Matsuyama: We're developing with a new team combining veterans who worked on the original .hack series and younger members who grew up playing games. Projects like Fuga Melodies of Steel and the “Revenge Trilogy” (※1) served as stepping stones to establish the development framework for .hack//Z.E.R.O.>Separately, we've focused intensely on something else over the past few years: recruiting and nurturing 2D character designers and 2D illustrators. Many of these staff members haven't been revealed yet, but we've assembled an exceptional team of artists.>The "Revenge Trilogy" refers to a collective term for three self-published projects announced by CyberConnect2 eight years ago. The lineup includes the first project, the Fuga Melodies of Steel series, followed by the second project, CECILE, and the third project, Tokyo Ogre Gate.I'm absolutely thrilled—it feels like they're giving it their all. I'm also curious about the music.>Matsuyama: In addition to featuring the sound unit “LieN,” familiar from CyberConnect2's works, we've asked Tarō Hakase ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taro_Hakase ) to compose the main battle theme.――Huh!? Really!?>Matsuyama: We had a fortunate connection (laughs). When I asked, he readily agreed.
>>733212413It's honestly got to be a lot of pressure though, both the fans and Bamco putting all their trust into CC2 to pull through and make a good .hack game to revive the series. I really hope they knock this one out of the park.
>>733212045And don't forget their Vtuber's phase.
>>733212492―How did the music production process proceed?>Matsuyama: With Mr. Hakase, we started by discussing the fundamental aspects—not just the game's image, but its content too—like “How should we even create this?” and “How should the loop playback structure be designed?” We shared the work's theme.>After that, we listened to various pieces together, having many back-and-forth discussions about what worked and what didn't. Finally, he composed one piece. Then, we repeatedly readjusted it to fit the actual game progression... Through this process, he created music from scratch, specifically for this project. You can hear the music Mr. Hakase composed in the publicly released teaser PV.――What thoughts went into the title “.hack//Z.E.R.O.”?>Matsuyama: First, to avoid any misunderstanding, I want to clarify that this is completely separate from Michiko Yokote's novel ‘.hack//ZERO’, published by KADOKAWA twenty years ago. That's why the title this time has dots placed between each letter: “Z”, “E”, “R”, ‘O’. You can still read it as “zero”.>On the surface, it carries the message: “We are restarting ‘.hack’ from zero.” Furthermore, the arrangement of each individual letter and the placement of the dots conceal a crucial mechanism central to the work's foundation. I hope readers will discover this for themselves within the actual story.――Was the title always going to be ‘.hack//Z.E.R.O.’?>Matsuyama: We had about 100 title ideas, but none felt quite right—they all gave off that “this isn't it” vibe. We also debated whether to use the series' iconic hexagon logo. Since this is a new project, we decided to leave the hexagon out and deliberately went with a monochrome reveal. The main visual for the still-unnamed protagonist should also give a distinctly different, challenging impression compared to previous entries in the series.
>>733212413>>733212492Honestly, the way I see it sounds a lot like their Fuga experience gets to carry into the real world segments so they actually can tell a story outside The World with more than just news posts and multimedia videos.
>>733212413>However, with this new title, those “reins” are gone. What happens when CyberConnect2 creates something based solely on our own ideas, without any constraints? That's what we want to show you.famous last words. i hope this guy isn't like the one behind Kingdom hearts that adds belts to belts when left unsupervised
>>733212529Please tell us why you unified the main visuals in black and white.>Matsuyama: The .hack series originally contained multiple messages, one of which is liminality. Humans inevitably inhabit two worlds. These can be “the face we show others versus our true inner thoughts” or “the duality of reality and games.”>Especially when focusing on online themes, as symbolized by today's social media society, the information before us and the actual living person posting it are never identical. To visually express this ambiguous boundary line in the most straightforward way, we deliberately chose a monochrome black-and-white visual for this project.――The PV featured poses reminiscent of “data drain.” What will the game content be like?>Matsuyama: While the genre is RPG, it's designed with a complex blend of action and adventure elements.――What kind of atmosphere and image does the work convey?>Matsuyama: While it was set against the backdrop of the “online dawn era,” today networks—including social media—have become an integral part of daily life. Consequently, our sense of distance from the internet has changed dramatically since then. I believe today's online world harbors more ‘malice’ and “creepiness” than ever before.>The entry point for this work is a “digital suspense” that evokes the unsettling atmosphere reminiscent of the original .hack. As the story progresses from there, the structure is designed so that by the end, you feel the unique “language” and “overwhelming intensity” established by CyberConnect2 in .hack//G.U.
>>733211845And then as the game went on, that piece of shit Kratos ended up being the worst character in the game.
>>733212413They seem to want to bet everything on this new .Hack. Hopefully they pull it off
>>733212529So it's not related the hack zero novel? That is a relief
>>733212578Will the nature of the antagonistic forces the protagonists face this time also differ from before?>Matsuyama: Yes, that's correct. Of course, evil corporations will appear as well. However, what we're focusing on is “what the online society of this era is actually like right now.” The public face of corporations on the stage, and the hidden agendas of the people lurking behind them. Both sides inevitably exist within modern networks. We're portraying this multi-layered structure of society as the enemy.――So the setting is still the online game “The World”?>Matsuyama: That's right.――What time period will it be set in?>Matsuyama: I think you can imagine it as a world about ten years in the future, not too far from the present day we live in.――In the teaser PV, characters resembling Kite and Balmung appear. How does this relate to past works?>Matsuyama: I can't reveal much about the characters or worldview yet. What I can say is that it doesn't directly connect to the past series. By the way, the released teaser PV is a concept video created by Kamikaze Douga, not actual in-game footage.――So it's not a sequel. Does that mean you can enjoy it without having played the previous titles?>Matsuyama: Absolutely. There's absolutely no need to feel intimidated thinking, “I don't know the .hack series” or “It seems hard to get into because it's part of a series...”――By the way, what about the release date?>Matsuyama: I can't answer that yet. I hope you'll look forward to further updates.――Finally, please share a message for the fans.>Matsuyama: Reaching this 30th anniversary is thanks to our fans, everyone in the industry, and the hard work of our staff. >>733212967Okay but like the most you had at that point was generally her phases, Aura, the experimental children Harald didn't care for, etc, a very different scale despite the threat level being dramatic at the time, versus a current society trying to literally put AI in every single fundamental process they can get away with even if it's all LLM shit with no actual intelligence whatsoever. Exaggerate it a bit by .hack standards and that's basically billions of AIs populace for shit getting so radically out of hand that it isn't simply net hijacks and tech shutdown, but your own technology actively misguiding you to your death and gaslighting you into wrong decisions, etc.

>>733213751>>733213664even if it isn't a full continuity reboot, it's like 2036 judging by translated texts in the concept trailer and from the interview being 'ten years in the future from about now; at that point, the average .hack characters of kite, haseo and crew would pretty much be in their 40s minimum, and anyone older by their 50s-60s. shit, someone like lios would probably long past be retired if not outright dead. at that point any past continuity is essentially super old veteran characters, digital reconstructions, or not really able to be brought back.probably better as a full reboot at that point
>>733213873A recent trend in nostalgia media these days is that the character comes back in a new form, but when its time to get a cool upgrade or powerup, they revert to their legacy forms that you remember. I'm just saying that there is a non-zero chance that Kite will don his old R1 clothes or Aura puts on the dorito dress during a key story moment in Zero. And I'm sorry to say that I will be basedjacking like a sperg when it happens.

>>733213983oh wait i misjudged the old timeline stuff, Versus and Thanatos Report were by 2024-2025 themselves, so it'd have been only a decade in-universe if it WAS continuing things, though still like 20 years for the G.U. crew since that was 2015-2018 for that era of games in their timeline
>>733213720omg it miku!

Also, the x exploded with .hack news since yesterday. I never imagined that still would be this popular after all these years.
>>733207841I love Bordeaux
>>733214983honestly besides the outdated game design, the only thing REALLY holding this series back right now is just how damn inaccessible everything is without Youtube. novels? probably stowed away somewhere on the net but not easy for the average person to find. OVAs and animes? they're not on Crunchyroll, you can get SIGN and Roots on Youtube because literally no one is airing anything anymore to bother contesting them and I imagine BD sales are long over, but other stuff isn't so lucky. you can only access the G.U. games in a straightforward way and most of the rest of the franchise basically involves some measure of piracy or online order if you can even luck into 'em. it's kind of funny how the first major "multimedia franchise" in gaming is also one of the worst catalogued in that regard. and this isn't even getting into how half the franchise is Japan-only; Youtube english sub communities are your only lifeline.maybe word of mouth, hype for a new thing and so forth could stir CC2 and Bandai Namco / Kadokawa to do a lightweight resurgence of stuff but I'm not expecting any sort of IMOQ remaster, and sure as hell no reissues of old series and spinoffs and shit.
>>733215279maybe it's better to just keepSIGNIMOQROOTSGUand then toss everything else in the trash. the quality is all over the place and the ease of access, like you said, is terrible
>>733215279And some of that might have just vanished or was only fan translated like +10 years ago on a defunct websiteMaybe it would be a good idea to refresh people but I wouldn't know how to go about besides the obvious case of re-releasing the core .hack materials
>Z.E.R.OSo i'm gonna guess episodic dlc at first then they'll shove everything into a physical disc once completed.
>>733207196are the original people involved in this or is this another 'we're making it just because we own the IP' kind of deal?
>>733215370i never got to really indulge in any of the novels but i hear a few of them were actually really good, and legend of the twilight bracelet's manga wasn't as retardedly pointless and shameless as the anime; i certainly wouldn't be able to do much about that now though. especially with the ancient ass quality of some of these things.
SOVL
Considering that this seems to be a reboot of the original story, and seeing that the characters in the teaser are analogs of Balmung, BlackRose, and Kite, I think it is a given that there will also be a new Orca as well. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a new Helba or a new Mistral, too. But I wonder if any of the side characters will appear.
>>733215475it's the original company, some series vets involved alongside newer ones acquired since then. no bandai namco oversight on the project so it's all entirely in-house this time. just which vets we don't entirely know yet, though.
>>733207298I really doubt it. In spite of the themes of .hack, they've always been heavy into shonen archetypes because Hiroshi really fucking loves shonen manga. If you made the protagonist middle aged, you wouldn't be able to put him in love comedy situations with teenage girls or have any sort of "will they or won't they" teasing.
>>733215475>we own the IPBamco owns most of the IP and cock blocked a new hack for years and only threw their hands up and said "fine YOU make it"
>>733215279I agree with you, also, Tthey are rereleasing this https://cc2store-itn.shop-pro.jp/?mode=srh&keyword=Game+Art+Works+.hack%2F%2F20th
>>733208509ALL-REPTH
>>733208193I mean yeah. It's cringe but it's realistic. Over half of social media is just 25-40-year-olds complaining about society. It's kind of a stereotype of the 2020s, but there's a reason for that. Social media is cringe as fuck.
>>733207196how do you even get into this series? do you start with the videogame or the anime? or are they just adaptations of the same story? I'll be honest I mostly care about the cute brown girl with white hair...
>>733215627Just play the games and the short animations that came with them.
why is aura like this nowshe was such a good girl before
>>733215627>I'll be honest I mostly care about the cute brown girl with white hair...You can play IMOQ which are Black Rose's games.
>>733215279As someone who actually played, read, and watched almost every piece of this multimedia franchise that there is, even obscure stuff like .hack//Legacy, which isn't even listed in most charts of the series that people share, leaving my love for the series aside, there's very little that I would consider actually great or worth investing your time in, especially after the first season, because the side material during and after the G.U. era is either mediocre or outright terrible.
>>733215627>do you start with the videogame or the anime? or are they just adaptations of the same story? It was the first major gaming "multimedia franchise", aka the anime, books, and games all told different perspectives and portions of a story separately from one another. So you'd watch SIGN up to its ending on TV, go buy Infection for PS2 and actually see the consequences of SIGN playing out in the game at the same time the DVD that came with it for a Liminality episode has its own concurrent arc with the game too. But unlike the nightmare with 343 Halo, all of an "era's" stories worked towards the same general mysteries and portions of itself, and didn't abandon literally everything on a dime for shits and giggles, yet most major things were standalone enough to not really NEED to see literally everything anyway.
One thing I appreciate is the fact that they're seriously going back to some of the earlier .hack concepts of exploration of net culture. Regardless of how you feel about the post-Link stuff, and regardless of whether or not you like or hate all the bullshit regarding Emma and the ecoterrorists and Real Digitalize, I think one thing that you kind of hack to acknowledge is that it has absolutely fuck-all to do about exploration of net culture and how we interact with others online. The core themes present in .hack, .hack//Liminality and .hack//SIGN had become completely lost starting from .hack//Link. Tokio doesn't interact with the internet at ALL in that game. And later games continued the trend of offering no reflections whatsoever on the state of internet-based society and relationships. Even if they did try to course correct, they wouldn't be able to do anything with stuff like mama. The mama organization has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with those themes. It is literally impossible for them to offer any sort of insight on the internet whatsoever, because they are completely and utterly irrelevant to those themes. Same with Real Digitalize.
I watched all the .hack anime and played G.U. back then, but never the original tetralogy. I think it's time to finally do it.
>>733212805I sense... old man yaoi potential...
>>733215775Yeah, I got no idea what the hell happened by the time of Link. You'd be able to tell me completely different people inspired by Digimon hijacked the franchise for a completely different direction and I'd believe you, which wouldn't even be implausible given Bandai Namco. It wanted to shift the direction so radically that the akashic records shit basically isn't even internet stuff, just digital history in the blandest way possible, it's like someone missed the entire point of .hack.
>>733215721It also doesn't help how disjointed the materials feel. Even Roots and G.U. contradict each other, and if you watch Roots before playing the games, it spoils the big revelation for you of who put Shino in a coma, because the last few episodes aired after the second game was released. There's no mention of any of the events of Alcor or GnU in the trilogy either. Hell, even Returns and Reconnection can't fit together. Every piece of work in the first era fits so perfectly, and each work complemented the other and made the whole setting feel alive, but sadly, it's something that they couldn't replicate, no matter how hard they tried.
time for me to catch the Zs, while a reinstall of last recode runs in the background. maybe this time i'll damn well finish it instead of feeling like a dumbass from fucking up a single email chain in rebirth and losing heart from the Book of Ryu.
>>733215775The retcon of Emma being alive and the Mama organization essentially fooling Harald into creating The World and Aura as a means to digitalize mankind in the Net so that they stop polluting the planet is still one of the dumbest things I have ever witnessed.
>>733215980I kinda feel like the downfall started earlier on with .hack//G.U. G.U. was a lot less introspective of net culture than the previous games were. Both the games and Roots were overly concerned with Haseo's character development, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing mind you, but you can tell that net culture took much more of a backseat. The line between the game and reality had become too blurred by G.U., and all the characters just started acting like weird caricatures. It doesn't help that by the R:2 era, online roleplay had become oddly super-serious. Half the characters, with pretty much zero self-awareness or reservation, completely threw themselves into the "roles" they played in the game, and no one batted an eyelash at this. People didn't really act like proper human beings of modern society anymore. This might have been kind of an interesting approach to take, IF they had actually really delved into the implications of it. But Haseo doesn't really comment that much on how weird everyone around acts. He finds it annoying at times, but he seems to have become incredibly used to it to the point where it's not really seen as abnormal. So when another character acts like a legitimate fantasy warrior and uses flowery language that no rational 21st century human would ever use in day-to-day conversation, Haseo didn't bat an eyelash.Haseo himself was actually a rather poor way to explore these sorts of things as well, because the line between real life and the game had become far too blurred for him, almost to the point where the line didn't exist at all. Haseo is CONSTANTLY screaming his head off. So either his apartment is incredibly soundproof, or every single day his neighbors have to do with his constant screaming while playing the game.
>>733216304>So either his apartment is incredibly soundproof, or every single day his neighbors have to do with his constant screaming while playing the game.>dear the autistic boy down the hall is doing it again>just ignore him the best you can, we'll get noise-cancelling earphones soon i promise
>>733208117I'm still not sure what my dick is supposed to think about this character
>>733212805Not gonna lie, i really hope our irl counterpart is either a middle age man or a middle age women.
>>733216432>SHUT UP AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH>Honey? The weird shut in kid is shouting at his computer again
>>733216304>all the characters just started acting like weird caricatures.>People didn't really act like proper human beings of modern society anymore. Yep. You notice this with the mails as well. The ones in the original tetralogy look like they were written by people, since they discuss mundane stuff which makes the interaction relatable, and they also allow you to take a peek into the real personality of the person behind the characters. But in G.U. they feel like they are LARPing as their characters 24/7.
>>733207196>Kite as a base>Modern style out of sync with the designs of BlackRose and Orca, similar to Haseo>Seems to have sort of a lonely melancholic feel to him, perhaps reminiscent of TsukasaI'm really curious about what his gimmick is. I don't think he was just transported to the game world from the real world as-is because there are a few of elements of his design that seem like they'd be just as out of place in 21st century Japan as well, mainly the gloves and the tattoo on his left cheek. It feels more like he was transported from one game and into another.
>>733216529>ALKAAAAAAAAIIIIIID>Oh, Dear the autistic child sounds so upset>Just ignore it honey, it’s probably over something silly like a bad date or a break up
>>733208258Same problem Megaman battle network has
>>733216508Honestly, teen or adult, I just hope we don't get a weird White Knight Chronicles / God Eater situation or anything like that.>here's these well-designed characters with their own drama, trauma and mystery!>now make a custom character that looks generic next to them all and reacts like a stone wall to anything going on, and is just there for everyone else to bounce off of
>>733216508Can't have romcom scenarios like that. I think you're expecting too much out of them. They never said that they're designing this game to be tailor-made for the old crowd who grew up with these games. In fact, they explicitly pointed out that you don't need any prior exposure to the series to enjoy it, meaning the player's age doesn't really matter.
How do I get into this franchise?
>>733217354>Can't have romcom scenarios like thatMake everyone a 30 yo old man and women
>>733216304To this day my only real issue with G.U. is the worldbuildingIMOQ had entire Epitaph of Twilight being the basis of The World and being the main plotline of the series with everything being connected to it.And then The World in G.U. has its own new lore but it NEVER becomes relevant outside of that one quest with Antares - basically all the stuff you read about The World R:2 is just there for the sake of it. AIDA is just meme virus akin to X from Metroid Fusion for all three games and you just wipe it away through Corbenik without fanfare because "Somehow... Cubia has returned." follows right after it as the true final boss like 2 hours before the series' ending.
>>733217440They needed some sort of final boss to sort of tie up Haseo's development. Defeating Ovan didn't really resolve anything for him personally, it just left him feeling empty. There needed to be one more boss to showcase his growth, since otherwise all he really did was get manipulated by Ovan into doing exactly what he wanted and destroying someone he wanted to save.

>>733220335Nice. Hopefully they'll show Black Rose's character sheet, since they've only showcased Kite's and Balmung's so far.
Here's some hopium for my fellow .hackers.>Jump Force and Ace Combat were announced and promoted at around the same time.>Every bit of Ace Combat news was spammed by shonenfags crying about Bamco showing off news for AC7 instead of Jump Force.>Jump Force and AC7 come out.>Jump Force flopped.>AC7 was so successful that evem the Xbox version charted in Japan. Now these Jump Force guys have returned as JJK fanboys who slander .hack//. Why these people are bashing CC2 and .hack// instead of the fake leakers and Youtubers is something I don't get. But never believe a shonenfag who says your game will flop. Read the replies to this for a hearty kek, .hackbros. Shonenfags are a vocal minority. Don't let their words weigh you down.https://x.com/BandaiNamcoUS/status/1086662066038104064
I don’t think they should include real world sections. The game should only stay inside the MMO. Back when I didn’t have a PC or internet at home, .hack was the only thing that made me feel like I did. Booting it up, scrolling through the fake desktop, reading forum posts and emails, that whole online simulation is what made the series special. If they start adding real world segments, it’ll lose that feeling and just end up like the Digimon Story games.

I wish there was a hack, no pun intended, that adds the real-time menu and shortcuts from //Fragment to the original games, because with just that one change, the pacing and flow of the combat become much more tolerable.
>>733222030I would hate that, with how easily you can die in .hack. that pausing and breaking pace of the enemy is actually a life saver for me.
>>733221031Doesnt look like they're trying it this time round. It says in the article that bandai collaborated with other companies to make those anime and manga, and considering they're self publishing and are under limited budget, i dont think its happening again.

>>733220997 Yeah, they’ve been trying to milk the GU trilogy for so long now 'cause they know revisiting IMOQ would mean actual effort. People have literally been asking for a remaster or remake for years but Bandai keeps pretending it never existed unless it’s time to sell another Kite figure. >>733222298Matsuyama did mention in the Famitsu interview that in the past Bandai and Kadokawa were in charge of the anime and manga aspects of the series, but that wouldn't be the case with ZERO, and the game was also announced under the "Project Dusk" umbrella, and in the past such projects involved multiple multimedia projects, like how Project .hack was for the first generation of the .hack series. I wouldn't be surprised if we get at least an anime as a sort of prequel in the same vein as .hack//SIGN or .hack//ROOTS, and also a manga or web novel, since CC2 already made those in the past on their own (.hack//Bullet, .hack// Begins and .hack//New Testament).

If I remember right some idiot simp worshiped a woman who died so he created an ai daughter and put her in an online video game which is what creates the conflict of the original series itself making humans get comas while in the game and the players have to learn this entire mystery while fixing the damage that stupid simp created with his stupid ai daughter. This is a garbage premise for a story.
>>733224553>A universe that's a fiction within a fiction is lame trash.?

>>733224553I watched .hack//Sign on toonami in 2003 and at the time (I was 12) I didn’t even know MMO games existed, most people still had dialup and the internet was barely a thing, so the concept of a persistent massively multiplayer online game with VR elements felt very wow cool future and sci-fi, and for that reason it has always had a special place in my heart for imaging what video games could actually be.
listen to key of the twilight
I'm really curious as to what this continuity's The World is like in order to result in such drastically different design concepts between Kite and Balmung/BlackRose. My guess is it's one of two possibilities: 1) At some point, the game's beeb around for a while and started adding outfits and accessories completely at odds with the original design of the game2) The World is actually a lot bigger and each server has a completely different culture and society in terms of lore.
so they were working on this project for 10 years? if so the game's ready?
>>733210735playing the same game 4 times(they are very short though), it's a shallow action rpg with a passably interesting story
>>733225091I doubt it. CC2 has probably been in pre-production since probably 2017 since Recode hinted something was going on, but they have probably been sorting out the details with Bamco for a long time. I imagine the game is probably 2027-2028, but CC2 also doesn't have to rush it out the door because it's self published so they can take whatever time they want.
As much as I liked the bike and enjoyed customizing it, I hope ZERO brings them back.
>>733209496Don't bother the gameplay of this series can be summarized as Kingdom Hearts but real bad.
>>733225051The original 2003 anime was set in the year 2009 so if this new game takes place in a new “near future” version of our world (like 2030ish) then you could probably assume the world game they’re all playing has been out for like 20+ years now, so within the world fiction they’re probably using a new game engine with new developers and publishers and a new generation of gamers.
I hope the zones will be more diverse
>>733225229maybe they were working on a whole multimedia products again? If so I'd be happy
>>733225091>if so the game's ready?I doubt it. If the game were in a presentable state, they would have shown gameplay, or at least a trailer that showcases the game running in-engine instead of a teaser animated by Kamikaze Douga.
>>733225431KH fags need to fuck off, your shit series is over animated, nonsensical Secret of Mana to begin with.
so which games are on pc/switch and which ones should I play?
>>733225624I really hope they aren't and the multimedia aspect isn't much more than a movie/TV anime. I want them to focus on the game and if the game does well then they go full into the multimedia aspect again if they want.I hope CC2 is smart about how they do this project and it doesn't end up being episodic.
>>7332258631-7 are available through PS2 emulator. 8 is exclusive to Last Recode, which includes 5-7, but it's also not a full game, more like a small continuation.

>>733213218No. Lets face reality humans don't care about anyone that isn't their immediate family and even then it has to be GOOD members of the family. Humans are simply trash animals that need to be ruled and abused by rich evil Jews. You NEED to be treated like this. I'm rooting for the Jews to kill the Earth so that we can all die collectively. Go Team Rich Evil Jews.Whoever kills the Earth so mankind can die is going to be a real hero.
>IMOQ remaster never EVERfuck this gay ass fags shit cunt niggers ass
>>733214983Popular? How well does this series even sell? We've seen series that debuted during the PS2 era like Hack and they sell better than Hack while still being ongoing. Ratchet and Clank and God of War are more recognized and profitable. So how well has the Hack series sold? I doubt its popular remember internet popularity means nothing if actual humans aren't BUYING.
>>733226415Bro shut the fuck up, go shit up gayer threads with your sales horse shit. The people who play this series aren't dopamine burn outs like your retarded species.

>>733226662Anon this is a series that's probably older than you are, if you don't want to put in the legwork to even try the ancient, unsupported games then maybe it isn't for you. It's a series made up of people in a time when internet access wasn't for brain dead morons.

>>733226662dont count on it
>>733223469It is worth mentioning that with the announcement of the game, they also announced that they are launching a film production division.
So was .hack// the first of its kind in doing the stuck in a game shit? I didn't really care for the first 3 episodes, but by 4, it feels like I'm just watching characters being cosy, like Digimon for adults.
The AI revolution is here and it couldn't be any lamer. When did technology (or even the future in general) stop being mysterious and cool, bros? Like I can't help but envy the awe people had for the internet and computers in general back in the day. It's really apparent in late 90s and early 00s media, like IMOQ obviously, or MGS2, or Lain.

>>733227303>the tech is hereIts really not
>>733227303Never. VR headsets have pretty much failed and the key parts of R1 was just a Head mounted displays and a controller.
>>733227427What is missing for a the world like game to exist?
>>733227178>it feels like I'm just watching characters being cosy,Yep, SIGN is pretty much a character-focused story with the overall plot being secondary to the main mystery surrounding Tsukasa and Aura. The show is more about this group of different characters that used The World as a way to escape from their IRL problems and less about an overarching narrative. You have a character that starts using Tsukasa as a surrogate son because he can't connect with his IRL son, a tired salarywoman, a girl who can only find autonomy in the game because she lost hers in the real world, and also people who are just average Joes.I love this series, man, and it sucks that almost every other show with a similar setting is just a power fantasy story about some generic-looking teen who gets a harem and is super good at the game.
>>733227303never because things are made in mind with how much they money they can take from you long term with microtransactions and other nickel and dime tactics. Also thanks to WoW, the mmo social genre has been destroyed beyond all repair. Your best bet is to try FF11 with the new updates it seems to be getting.
>>733227384>artbookHow far are they into development to be releasing an artbook?I really hope its in this years summergamefest or gameawards
>>733227496A way to prevent people from simply parsing the game code to spoil all the secrets and create an optimal meta on day 1The whole appeal of the world is the mystery and discovery
>>733227551>thanks to WoW, the mmo social genre has been destroyed beyond all repair.I've heard that oldmmofags think that wow killed the genere, but why?
>>733227665They have probably been in pre-production for close to a decade which is why they have enough art to throw into an artbook because art is something that can be produced in abundance during preproduction, so it is really hard to tell where CC2 is at especially since the project is going to be self-published so Bamco can't just knock on the door and say "Release is by 2027."
>>733207196>>733213454It just dawned on me how different the new Kite design is compared to the new Balmung and Black Rose. One is a more urban, modern design while the others are fantasy. I wonder what the new The World setting is.
>>733227384>march 5thSource?
>>733227778>thinkI don't THINK anything, they did. It created a "meta" a "standard" for "successful" mmo formula, so mmo after it tried to copy it, but what retard marketing didn't know was that Blizzard was oppressively smashing down any and all competition so every competitor died out. And now you have game development so ridiculous that devs aren't even willing tot ry the genre/content anymore. You'll find every MMO release before wow have wildly different, but at it's core social ideas and game functions.

>>733232958>forgot cc2 is a whore for fmv and made their cutscenes all that wayThe thing that surprised me the most of Last Recode was precisely that they redid every single pre-rendered cutscene, and they look amazing in high definition. And speaking of cutscenes, I also love the ones in volume 4 that were made by Studio Orange. It sucks they obliterated the difficulty for no good reason (why even include cheat mode?).
>>733232958>>get a powershell script to adjust exp modifiers for all games and disable newly introduced damage scalingsome people last thread were looking for a mod that does something like that, what did you end up using?
I'm not able to post a watch2gether link here right? I want to use it to show the shitty youtube quality of Sign to entice people to at least watch the source material before investing into the games.I got the room all set up, just need a way to share it.
>>733233550https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3346491274This one. Unlike the cheat engine method that just reduces your def values in vol 1 and you needing to manually downlevel every party member in vol 2 onwards, this one actually just makes you get as little exp as you want and removes your damage scaling with enemy levels. Which afaik was not present in the original games. I personally gave myself a value of 40 (Last Recode gets up to 150 lol) and i get around half the exp of the original, to make it a bit more challenging.

>>733238071yes because it's unclunkino

>>733238337I donnt like it but I'm not going to complain because we got a new .hack// game and there will be fantasy things in the game for sure
>>733238016Been playing with the modified exp and disabled damage scaling options and it is basically the ps2 version. Been playing both side by side for comparisons for the past hour. Damage numbers look to be the same as well even after leveling up. It really was just the overleveling and newly introduced damage scaling relative to monster levels that made the game pisseasy.
>>733238016Also, get kaldaien's, or whatever the heck his name is, special K so that you have ps4 buttons. Not only is triangle and square buttons swapped natively, it also has the xbox button layout. Nexus got ps4 button mods and a few other nice things that require special K.
>>733238337Not a big fan of the cyberpunk aesthetic. I miss the Celtic designs, but like the other guy said can't complain. Balmung looks great though!
>>733223415lol no, he isn't. Kite is. Kite is the face of the franchise, not Haseo. Kite is the one that gets milked the most in promotional material, not to mention he's the only character with a bunch of fucking clones in almost every .hack entry.
wish it was closer to the original, but it could’ve been much worse so I’m not complaining
After 10 episodes of Sign, I can say it's just boring. It's ambient storytelling. I think as I get closer to the end, I'm gonna realise that it was all a waste of time that probably gets summarized in the opening of the video-game.
>>733240053Can't blame them. They perfected his design the first time. Looks great.
>>733240158no, not really
>>733240158The green haired guy, Sora, becomes a very important character later. Other than that it's a pretty self contained story.I like SIGN but it is VERY slow and has too many hyper close up sliding stills.
>>733238337I have an inkling that his design may be from the corruption of the bracelet, just like when he turned from green to bright red in the IMOQ games. If so, that's pretty cool
>>733240158>that probably gets summarized in the opening of the video-game.IMOQ doesn't actually do a goddamn thing to tell you of what happened in SIGN. You can get a couple of SIGN's scenes as flashback moments for cross referencing, and there are some tidbits that will obviously make more sense seeing SIGN first since it is effectively the boiling point for everything kicking off, but the games simply do not even attempt to actually explain what happened over there.
>>733240342Because largely SIGN doesn't matter.Tsukasa and co foiled Morgana's first attempt at corrupting Aura.Z.e.r.o looks like Morganna succeeded though.
Why does he care about this when he constantly eats meat in-game?
Finally got over the level-equipment mental block. Armour does need work eventually but that's Phase 6-7 done.I haven't failed to notice how much more often Kite uses emoticons when he's more familiar with someone.
>>733207746UGHH SEXXXXX
One of the best thing abt GU is that it's one of my first games where the protag gains new form, weapon and avatar with each iteration which was worth the hype. Looking back, that was such a rare moment in video games.
>>733240697Kite is one of the handful of actually stable characters in the series. No big surprise he's a soccer player too and quit the game right after. Probably doesn't even play games much.
Will I be missing out on much if I start with GU without playing kite's series?
>>733240618It's not about "it doesn't matter". Aura is born, Morganna's now running amok in her own operations, Macha is freed from the Phases temporarily, and Skeith is on the prowl for Aura. The game world and the way people treat and handle it has been set up. Harald as the mysterious black box creator of Fragment is the crux. It's not about needing drama and action every single step of the way, but a slow burn into gradual truths and mysteries that then have to be resolved elsewhere because it's the worldbuilding prequel story.
>>733240694big sad eyesalso the world doesn't have crafting professions, so video game meat doesn't come from video game animals, it spontaneously generates in shops.
Did anyone who played IMOQ before watching SIGN go back to Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground and use a Fairy Orb only to become disappointed that nothing happened? I actually thought for a moment that it was ludicrous that the secret stayed hidden in the game in-universe supposedly for so long until I realized it also never once occurred to be to actually try using one in that area myself in the games.
>>733240808Tales of Arise did it too for the mcPrisoner outfitAssorted ragsBig heavy armorRoyal white raiment. Now that I think about it Alphen's costume progression is almost the same as Haseo's, and happens at the exact same points in the story too.

>>733238337I honestly don't like it. Here's hoping you can change his outfit because every time I look at him, I think he needs to go back to Santa's workshop. Balmung and Blackrose look great though!
>>733238337>How does everybody feel about Kite's I like that it is not a straight-out Kite clone again, despite sharing the same color motif and some of the elements of the original. The only thing that I find odd is that he doesn't seem to belong to the same game as Balmung, which makes me worry that he has been Real Digitalized (like Tokio in .hack//Link) and is trapped inside The World.
>>733240837Not really. You just miss out on background lore, returning characters(that use different names and new classes). For instance the main character himself was in //Sign and the IMOQ games. But he looked and acted vastly different.

>>733241024>Right, he's a total normieYeah, Kite being just a normal kid who actually acts his age is one of his more endearing features. He's like the complete opposite of Haseo.
>>733240930KH2 also have these things too, with the drive-forms mechanic. Your attack patterns and style vastly changes depending on the form you choose, i.e valor form for STR, wisdom form for long range attacks and flexible casting while master form opts for mastery over magic and physical attacks. Other games like Ape Escape 3, does it as well iirc.
So far, she's my favourite character in SIGN.My least favourite is the MC. It might be a hard pill to swallow for most anime viewers, but depressed losers who waste their life in video-games are unlikeable people.
>>733241191Not-Balmung is probably kitted out in end game gear/looks while Not-Kite is most likely wearing starter/newbie gear since I cannot see this version of the world operating on set models like R1 did. We also don't know what this World's setting is like but it's probably going to be some kind of modern fantasy setting.
How are the hack// novels? Are they important to the franchise story?
>>733241191It makes me wonder if we will have two MCs: Not-Kite, who's trapped inside the game, and the detective looking dude, who is investigate Morganna from outside The World.

I'm 11 eps into SIGN now. For a game with 20 million players, seemingly nothing fuckin' happens. You'd think they'd speak more about famous players or something. Where's Zezima?

>>733242835The way to think about it is that Nomura is a chuuni constantly trying to do modern fashion trends in Shibuya and shit. The fact that the nu-Kite looks like a modern fashion trend kid is incidental but carries that same vibe, albeit in a more edgy fashion thanks to the choker and heavy emphasis on black-red instead of the old white-brown-orange.

Why didn't they ever try making a .hack// MMO?Still baffling
>>733243459.hack//frägment, I think the guys at /vm/ played it last year
>>733241694>but depressed losers who waste their life in video-games are unlikeable people. That's BT also, though. She just hides it somewhat well. BT is also very endearing in her own way however.
>>733243420No digital?
>>733243713Hiding it is cool. Letting it ruin your life is cringe.
>>733241694Honestly Tsukasa seems like a total jackass until you learn her home life and then it all makes sense.
>>733243459Take one look at Blue Protocol.
>>733243663>.hack//frägment is a multiplayer online game based on the fictional MMORPG, The World. It was released only in Japan on November 23, 2005 and online service ended on January 18, 2007I wonder how it would have fared with PC support and an actual overseas release
>>733243871Even if they're getting raped every day, they'd still be unlikeable. I like the music in the series though
>>733219064This multimedia shit they pull is probably one of the big reasons why .hack is not that popular of a game. The fact that you have to watch an anime first before playing both .hack//iwoq and gu alienates alot of new people getting into the series. Glad my 10y.o self never bothered with .hack sign and i only saw .hack roots after playing rebirth.
>>733243936Amazon censored it to hell and back and it also had predatory mtx iirc because bamco is run by retards>>733244135they said in an interview that was all Bandai's idea, so the reboot will hopefully be more straightforward
tsukasa is a huge fucking downer haseo is an ass hole kite is the only straightforward hero-like guy is the new kite going to be that way too
>>733244373New kite looks like a sad boi
>>733207196He used to look so BASED
>>733244563Honestly he looks more like a fuckin terrified one. He's got a good smile but also a pissy glare, and the trailer makes him seem like a kid thrust into an absolute nightmare scenario and actually reacting accordingly versus OG Kite mostly being confused and yelling when someone was in imminent danger.
>>733209496Watch .hack//SIGNEmulate 1-4Play 4 after finishing SIGNWatch .hack//Twilight Bracelet / read the manga for canon endingWatch .hack//rootsBuy the GU remakes on saleRead the LINK mangaPlay the LINK gameWatch the CGI moviesAt some point read the books alsoWatch the corresponding OVA for each game at the end of each game
>no one talks about this series for years >now no one will shut up about it
>>733244993Are you retarded?
>>733242691
>>733213751Based on the trailer it is clearly a reboot since it has modernized versions of characters from the original 4 games and these characters are immediately noticeable to anybody who has played the original games. The plot will probably follow the same path as the first games but based on the trailer it looks like they are going to make Morganna look like Aura's evil twin sister AI. (The girl in black is clearly Morganna). They will probably do a yin/yang type of setup with the AI where Morganna is evil and gives you data drain to manipulate you into creating a network crisis but then you end up using it to free Aura from her coma to prevent a network crisis.
>>733244621Surely Aura knew they were way too intimidating and that not being able to talk was going to be a huge problem when AIDA was infecting actual people
>>733244993
>>733245124G.U. era Aura was a bit too hands off and kinda didn't give much of a shit but for a baseline stability.
>>733213751>>733245104It's gonna be one of those>promote the game as a remake / reboot / standalone series>halfway of the game, you find out it's a sequelJapan likes those>eva>higurashi>ff7>gridman>gundam gquuuuuuxI know i'm missing more examples.
>>733207196Zoomer here, do I really have to READ the light novels?!?
>>733245391>gundam gquuuuuuxKek really?
>>733245404yes
>>733245391>>gundam gquuuuuuxit's a sequel to witch of mercury?
>>733244373Haseo may have been an asshole, but he was a funny asshole, especially when he was being a dick to Atoli or Gaspard. Fuck those two.>>733244993Don't worry. Once the hype dies down we'll all crawl back into our little holes anon
>>733245391Because it's a smart way to attract both newfags and old fags.Though unironically the only one who managed to do this correctly was mortal kombat 9 which the retelling actually worked for both people new to the lore and the old fans who learned new things
>>733245538>>733245468Alternate reality sequel to the original gundam.
>>733245404no, see >>733220293
>>733245640Wtf lmao
Predict the time janny
How do I emulate the firsts games?
realistically if not every imoq pc is in the game then who's getting axed
>>733245794Skieth is the time janny
>>733245125The first 12 episodes of SIGN could be skipped
>>733245945these episodes are comfy
>>733245727It's some stupid fanfic where this retard successfully manage to steal the gundam and win the war. And gquuuuux's story takes place after that. It's fucking terrible but japan eats it up, and it ended up being one of the biggest gundam show to come out recently.(In the original timeline, the mc, amuro ray was the one that hijack the gundam and pilot it)
>>733245841pcsx2????
>>733232341Oh fuck no it's not, but yeah I still enjoyed a lot.Back in the day this whole MMO thing was still novel and magical, and a show surrounding one even more so.
>>733242010ojisan bros, we're SO back
>>733246076I mean, where do I find the games?
>>733246187the internet nigga
I've changed my mind. He's my favourite character so far. Also, Bear & Mimiru
God damn watching infection clips has me going through some crazy nostalgia.
>>733245125Why are you posting an image of a toddler here?
>>733246569He's a 3.4 year old model that looks 17.
>>733246298unfortunately you're probably missing that he's talking in an extreme form of internet leetspeak shorthand.y0u c4n 741k 1n 1337 1n 3n6115h, but in japanese, they can shorthand much more of words into numbers by their name, which they can have several pronunciations of. the easiest of which to imagine is that "2chan" = "nii-chan"
>>733246298Sora is blast.
https://youtu.be/YsgTG1K7PNE?list=PLZksDjucpnZstqXmFMwlFI7DsHmPu4XEtGod .Hack is so mother fucking good.Maybe there is hope for this wretched planet yet. This anime moment is so fucking good, sitting through the show to get this.
Why did Haseo's parents let him play The World again after it fucked him up in elementary school?
>>733247332why do niggers nowadays let kids spend all day on the phone? same shit>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz3dbDxVPqY
>>733247332I think his parents let him move out on his own once he started High School so there was nobody there to stop him.
>>733247332>WE SEAD GREATO DISHONNA COMMIT SEPPUKU AT HIM AND IT DID NOTHINGIf nips were any good at raising their kids half of their fiction would not happen at all.
>>733244135You really don't need to view any particular media in any order with IMOQ except Liminality, which comes with the damn games, and Unison which is a DVD extra. Even Legend of the Twilight is entirely enjoyable without IMOQ or SIGN (I would know since that was my intro to the series). I even played through GU before IMOQ. Yeah, I was all over the damn place. I could have just as easily played IMOQ before everything else though, because all these works enhance each other in any viewing/play order.
