I beat the game yesterday and I kinda don't like how it's not really built up to that the player is Isaac's mom outside of characters confirming that she's a woman before the literal credits. It feels like everything that calls back to it (the "house on the hill" being the main base, all of the Isaac enemies like Pooter and Bloat, Isaac items like Mom's Knife and Sacred Heart) could just be waved off as Edmund referencing his previous works like always, and the abundance of them isn't really atell either because Isaac is both his biggest work (both by scale and in terms of popularity) so it just seems like he's referencing what he's proudest of the most (outside of Meat Boy but he kinda had to do a runaround on that for obvious reasons).
