Why is there so many elevators? Who builded them and why?
>>
>>736558480
i builteded them
>>
because the dogshit level design needs elevators all over the place to "fix" it
>>
Good morning ESL!
>>
>>736558480
I had sex with the man that billed them.

does this game even have a single elevator
>>
>>736558480
The better question is why there's often long ladders in places that were plausibly regular living quarters not that long ago
>>
>>736558961
Nah, ESLs who can't spell are newfags because they got internet access around 2016.
>>
They buyed from china
>>
>>736559841
the game has a npc who literally runs a ladder selling business

Gwyn had them built using taxpayers' money.
>>
>>736561214
that's dark souls 2
>>
>>736558480
Because FromSoft loves to solve level design problems with elevators and teleports.
>>
>>736558480
Nobody talks about how in every souls game there's lifts that are built atop a bottomless pit, or random ladders that are cartoonishly big. Like the one from upper to lower undead burg - "lol let's build a 50 meter ladder in this random featureless room so that citizens can travel through our city"
Also in elden ring, in stormveil castle there's a rope ladder that is like 300 fucking meters long. Great level and world design, mitsubishi-san

I get it. It's hard to make forward moving levels without resorting to some cheap-ass shortcuts like elevators and ladders all the time, but after you've played two of their games you really start to notice that shit.
>>
>>736561623
Bro the entire town is taken over demons and hollows. Maybe those ladders are escape/alternative route built by deuteragonists like Solaire etc
>>
>elevator...le bad
erm, why?

Let me guess, next you're going to write a video essay about how ridiculous it that the Blighttown elevator is powered by a single fire dog.
>>
>>736562170
Because they overuse them.
>>
>>736562165
>Maybe those ladders are escape/alternative route built by deuteragonists like Solaire etc
So what some dude runs into the featureless, conveniently 50 meter tall room and is like "wait a minute, I could add a ladder here?"
My point is that people deepthroat souls over "muh interconnected level design" when most of the time it's linked together via comically huge ladders and nonsensical elevators.
Another hilarious part of lower undead burg is the alternate route, which is like a huge staircase, with no railing, whereby if you slipped you'd fall off to the left side down a bottomless cliff. So we can deduce that in the world of Dark Souls, the humans or whoever were like "why yes, this is a completely sensical and safe design for our people".

>Blighttown elevator is powered by a single fire dog.
If you take the broken pendant to the dog at just the right time, you'll uncover a big secret.

One of the many reasons DS2 was based

Turns out OSHA is a modern invention.

Yes, His name is Gilligan.

So I take it in medieval times, if you were a peasant going to a market or some shit, it was usual practice to be told just before "yeah bro, just make sure to keep your balance when you walk along the tight-rope over the giant piranha pit. Oh yeah also make sure you run AFTER the comically large ballistic fires it's shot"
>>
>>736558480
fat peopel
stairs are hard
>>
>>736563120
There's a reason there's practically no one left alive in the Dark Souls world.
IRL I've seen some very nice mountain trails in the Middle East get ruined by modern safety precautions. It's just not the same when there's walls on both sides.

Natural formation versus something that is man-made. In DS apparently the humans (who are mortal / not undead at this point) like to build their towns & cities like it's a looney tunes cartoon

will any game ever surpass the convoluted and dense world feeling of pre soul vessel of DS1?
is it even possible???
>>
>>736562295
that's actually not a bad topic because the dogs are the strongest enemies in Blighttown so how did they convince one to spend all his time doing that.

bed of chaos being on the same elevation as the bottom of ash lake is stupid if you think about it, unless the tree isn't meant to be 1:1? but being able to see both ash lake and the upper lost izalith from tomb of the giants implies that they're at least comparable
>>
>>736567043
There's a lot of fudging going on with skyboxes implying that you're supposed to be "further down" than plotting all the terrain on a 3D mapviewer would seem to indicate
