There is nothing you can play on a wii u but nowhere else (unless you want to be extremely technical and say smash 4 wiiu ver). Conceptually it was a cool system, but the tablet had issues in anywhere that wasn't japan refusing to catch signal through walls, had a fairly limited range (like 8 meters), and a few other issues that while minor really didn't help it stand out against the ps4 and I guess xbone. Naming convention, obviously. "We already have a wii" was a very common sentiment from confused parents. Scalpers attempted to buy out stock, but nintendo pumped so much stock of the wii u expecting it to be a megahit that it fucked them and inflated initial sales numbers, causing a mass panic after launch when the sellthrough plummeted, and completely spooked third party support.Switch is basically the wii u 2, it's everything the wii u was attempting to be, but better.
Say what you will about Wii U but you're not a real Nintendo fan if you didn't buy it.

I played a little Darksiders 1 on mine yesterday. It ran like crap. My replacement battery for my Gamepad lasted 30 minutes from a full charge. I will have to find a replacement
One particularly scummy thing about the Gamepad I remember is that Nintendo later released a larger battery pack for it, and the compartment was actually molded to fit the larger size and shape of it implying it was planned from day one, they put a shitter battery in it just to sell the proper one later. Wii U was soulful in the moment. There's no real reason to play one anymore but while it was the current console it was a good time. Miiverse carried the entire system, it was really cool how alive all the games that had miiverse integration felt. The systems main menu was awesome to just have up on the TV too seeing all the miiverse posts pop up. Almost all of it's games are just on Switch now so it's easy to just write them off but at the time it was the only place to play them, and they were good games.For me it was the last great party system, me and my friends would hang out and play shit like Nintendo Land, Game & Wario, 3D World and Smash every weekend. I guess we could still do that now with the new games on Switch but idk shits just different now than it was a decade ago and nobody is really interested in doing that anymore. It might not have had the biggest library or the best games but what it had was unique and interesting and I certainly put more time into it than I ever did with my PS4. You just had to be there and willing to give it a chance.
