In CP2077 where both options are annoying, I went with femV because she sounded more versatile and maleV sounded like he was only appropriate for that one preset face shown in the marketing. If it's a game like Witcher or Control where the character is predefined, I don't care. They just have to be at least a little likeable.

From what I can tell the most obvious appeal of video games is power fantasy which comes from the 'self'. The most obvious appeal of attractive female characters is sexual fantasy which comes from an 'other' - the more the perceptual frame and emotional perspective and will of this 'other' mirrors my own the more useless they are for a sexual fantasy, sort of like playing chess with yourself. Power fantasy on the other hand is the opposite. I have no use for depictions of attractive women other than sexual fantasy and frankly they defeat any depiction of darkness/combat by making it look fucking stupid.
