Denpa culture is so interesting. It was born out of a generation of people who were very alienated from society and immersed themselves into niches and subgenres that alienated them even more. Nowadays with anime and so much nerd stuff being normalized you rarely get the same ostracizing you would in past times for liking something specific. Denpa is also very self aware as presented by this game, its willfull denial of reality but without ever forgetting that you're digging yourself deeper. Its colorful visuals and a lot of noise to mask an unescapable sadness that birthed a very specific musical and cultural phenomenon that isn't really very widespread, but that is very influential on what internet culture would become.
