i've noticed in single player runs when this happens and I save scum it was just my own fault for playing my cards too aggressively on the exhaust turn. doornigger's damage is pathetic so it's better to just take some hits on the exhaust turn and slowly kill him on the other 2 turns. Only go all in on the exhaust turn to get rid of your garbage or when you know its gonna be over before you are out of cards.

but i get what you mean by going all offense. i got a starting primal force once and was able to steamroll through a A10 with no real plan but rock throwing. outside of a elite, boss, and one or two encounters, there's really nothing but luck stopping you from burst damaging enemies in one/two turns

Oh I know I could have not played Tyranny or Mayhem or played so many of my exhaust targets on the hunger turns. It did lead to some juicy turns for me by doing so and when you are on the act three boss in multiplayer burning out quickly and brightly is a valid tactic IMO if your team can finish the fight. I'm not sure my friend would have had the sustain if I didn't play so aggressively but who knows.

I just find it annoying that you build a deck with a tight strategy in the first two acts, it's coming together and feels great. Then you get to act 3 and see you are going up against doornigger, you don't really have the option to pivot your deck without just bloating it into a cluster fuck or duping it with the event or something. And then you just have to hope it works out with this sudden shift in cadence that is beholden to draw order way more than any other fight in the entire game. I don't like it.

After playing against the Doormaker with a deck that goes pseudo infinite (for the first time) I get where the asshurt is coming from. He's fine, easy even, if you're running a normal deck but a deck like this becomes straight up unplayable. Two firsts happened, not having fun and subsequently giving up.
Why incentivise a deck like this if you tune a boss to hard counter it. I don't feel like running this status deck again on the off chance I run into the Doormaker.

Shivs can do a lot of damage comparable to others when you're stacking debuffs.
Buffing Shivs with Accuracy and Phantom Blades, debuffing with weak (for Tracking), and having someone else apply Vuln/Debilitate can all lead to consistent numbers even with only 1-2 shivs per turn, not to mention any Strength gain and Knife Trap

Supermassive does not do as much damage as you think it does. Unironically double Parry with duped blade (thanks Heirloom Hammer) with Void Form had way more value, even after I put Retain on Supermassive. Also thanks philosophers event because Buffer gives me free breathing turn or two to use Void Form safely when I draw it. Shout outs to Glimmer to toss Void Form back to draw pile on a turn when I draw it but I don't have the energy to play it. Pretty high block thanks to double Pillar of Creation and double Child of the Stars and Crash Landing and Cloak Clasp. Thanks Bag of Prep to help me shrug off Folly. The thing I hate about this dude is that a lot of the good cards on characters like Clad and Regent (Unmovable, Blood Wall, Inferno, Pillar, the creation/transform cards) have always been good since launch. The only glaringly bad card that were buffed to being useable / great was Bundle of Joy. The only "issue" was that the devs had a loophole in terms of the numerical value and effects of certain cards (for example Aligment - Glow loop) which allowed for inifnite cheese. So that's why the cards that have always been good since the start gets noticed more now amongst the types of players who only play "consistent stratgies to win" like this moron. So his initial tier lists were very bad regardless and shows that he has very little insight into the game despite being a "top player". He used to say that Shrug It Off was a serviceable card in Act 1 only. That's just a fucking dogshit take lmao.

Pure Doom isn't very good even with a ton of Block, and Shroud is one of the weakest Block Powers in the game sadly. You either use Doom as a supplementary damage source or have to have Sleigh of Flesh, preferrably with x2 effect somehow (Glam, Transfigure, or just more than 1 copy). Since it goes off at the end of the turn and Countdown is single-target unlike Fumes, you can't play it the same way as Poison without the Sigil relic, and even with that relic you still need to block half the damage on the enemy's last turn anyways.

If you already have End of Days and No Escape, you actually don't want much more doom cards. All you need is, more No Escape and survivalbility.

a lot of Defy, a lot of Enfeebling, a Bone Shard, maybe a Countdown because you're going to drag fights quite long, maybe a death bringer because it's AoE weak and a lot of base doom to help End of Days clear hallway. (no escape suck in most hallway)
Shroud is kinda ass. Look for Spirit of Ash to work with Defys and Enfeeblings to block instead.
Pagestorm will let you cycle to No Escape again really quick if you got enough Defy and Enfeebling.

If you don't get enough No Escape to doom, you can pivot to Sleight of Flesh for deck instead because it have similair deck skeleton.

Hailstorm is a good pick for underdocks. Falls off later but I started taking it after seeing Xecnar rate it highly and it does consistently good work against phantasmal gardeners and skulking colony. It lets you focus on blocking in act 1 while having a single frost generates 6 aoe damage every turn.

AoE is a bit of a problem on Defect so Glass cards and Hailstorm are very neat. Consuming Shadow works really well especially with Glass orbs but you need to play your cards in the right order if you have Frost if you want to keep them around. This guy is all right but he definitely is out of depth when it comes to Necrobinder. There are more cards in her pool than just Neurosurge and Defy. It will never cease to amaze me how streamers understand that AoE can be a problem on Neceo but rate cards like Necro Mastery low. Which is weird since he understood that Bone Shards is very good.

Pull From Below scales too slowly especially without Call of the Void, and it gets fucked over the most by Friendship compared to Necro's other multi-hit card Eradicate.

You can use Bury with a single Snap, outside of getting ofc more energy per turn. Right Hand Hand is all right but really wants Calcify imo bc that damage is just sad. Graveblast is just worse Dredge. On Necro I often want to pull back more than just 1 card, her card pool is not the same as Defect.

Fear is definitely sus because it fucks up Lethality which is the deck it theoretically should fit in the most. Fetch also does that but at least it draws so it can be used in other decks.

It applies 2 Vulnerable if you upgrade it but there are usually better cards to upgrade, especially early on which is when you're most likely to take the card. Upgrading sth like Reap / Sow / big Block card will boost your strength against that Act 1 Elite much more than Fear. Putrefy is also uncommon and it just works so much better so I too usually don't bother much with Fear anymore. I think it's a good early pick for sure but it has a number of caveats I'm not a big fan of desu.

High-energy and high-damage are the best imo. I find Sleigh of Flesh to be a tad overrated since it can be draw order dependent which especially hurts Putrefy the most. Souls kind of want to combo with Summons. Doom kind of want to combo with Flesh so it doesn't take 20 turns to kill.

Defile is good but I just like Reap a lot more. Better numbers and keywords on it, same rarity.

honestly i think the fact that doormaker hits for 35 turn 2 is really whats filtering more people than his mechanics. they think its his mechanics because they suck at the game but its not. they either take a lot to the early large-ish hit or they take too long to kill and hit the exhaust phase too many times and blame the exhaust phase on their low output.
