I think they'll just correct course and all this talk about the merge and whatnot is just baitI actually thought they'd keep Aerith alive in Rebirth though (unless the theory that she IS alive on another timeline is true). My whole assumption for this trilogy was that keeping Aerith alive would set off a chain of events worse than OG FF7, and that they would have to, again, correct course, by letting Aerith die to keep the OG timeline true.
