I would do the inverse.The player character is an evil creature (goblin, undead, vampire, werewolf, etcetera), the last survivor of the demon lord / evil god army who survived by playing dead. The game is about you gathering a party of equally evil creatures / characters and your goal is freeing the evil lord / evil god who was sealed. The twist is that there is no twist: you're evil, so is your party and your lord and all the enemies you fight are the good guys genuinely trying to stop you and your team from reviving the evil lord. You have to fight and kill mankind's brightest champions. Maybe I would add two endings, one where you revive the BBEG or you usurp his power to become the next BBEG but there is no "redemption path" or any of those things. Given how you are a bad guy the entire world is against you: no inns, no blacksmiths, no stores, you have to rob and kill to get gear and supplies.
