I will shill Exo Rally Championship. Its full release was announced during the game awards. It's very technical but not so much that it's impossible to get into. I've never played a rally game until now.
>rally racing gameplay except there's multiple planets with different kinds of atmospheres/gravity. Can only tune up/repair every 2-3 races
>before each race, you fly around as a drone to scout the path ahead, since each race is on an open area of planet instead of dedicated roads
>your rover is equipped with thrusters for the purpose of keeping yourself from flipping over. as you progress, you can even use the thrusters as boost. thrusters can overheat if you use them too much, they have limited fuel, and the fuel affects your weight which affects speed.
>the tuning can go as autistic as you want. i don't know what 90% of the shit does but they have a quick-menu for people like me, or you can even completely ignore it and be fine.

Very ugly game but it's basically Daggerfall with imsim elements, find funny ways to break the game, play as a Goblin that can't speak to humans but is a master boxer etc. made by a brazilian solodev

Road trip game with RPG elements, tune and repair your car while looting points of interest while you're driving to a safe haven 1000km away. Solodev. No online coop, only splitscreen.

First person RPG centered on exploration and puzzles. If you liked Northern Journey you'll probably enjoy this.

comfy management game with a unique setting
nice soundtrack, nice visuals, steady progression and not too long (I 100% in under 20h)

I got that one on a previous sale but you can't remap the controls so I didn't actually play. My recommendation for people who liked Northern Journey is https://store.steampowered.com/app/1807810/The_Axis_Unseen/ . It's also a game about fucking about in the woods with a bow shooting crytpids, but it has a Heavy Metal aesthetic with colossal skeletons everywhere. I also liked the magic system even if it was a bit finicky.

It's a game that reminds me of Siren for the PS2 and is steam deck verified which is enough for me to give it a pass. It's at 62 reviews too. Haven't played it yet, but I have bought it and installed it.

Now I will find that one really obscure game that just released recently last year that had hand drawn portraits. No one reviewed it, but i still remember it.
>>
>>742053864
Someone shilled my game yesterday and I sold one copy to a German.
These things may not be linked, but I'm going to believe they are.

>>
>>742054834
it is very much both of those things
you get a spell that translates all fall damage you would take into an AoE around you, and in the lategame it's one of your best damage-dealing options because there are enemies that will launch you 100 feet in the air
>>
>>742053506
you're supposed to slow down and drift around corners. and you're also rarely supposed to floor it for extended periods of time.
You can also tilt the right stick forward to activate your front thrusters, which can also help turning. or even pressing in the stick to keep all the tires deeper in the ground.
>>
>>742053864
Is it really shilling if the assumption is always that it's a 50/50 coin flip between the poster being a lonely 20 to 30 year old who never gets to talk about a particular game he likes and the developer themselves?
>>

>>
>>742055601
It's only somewhat obscure outside of Russia but Tiny Bunny's pretty cool. It's a neat horror visual novel set in soviet Siberia.

>Was that route cut?
Yes. I think there might be a restore patch somewhere for that, but I never bothered. VNDB has a patch which apparently only uncensors the stuff which wasn't completely removed so not the explicit content/evil route. From what I hear the evil route leads to a bad end which culminates in time being rewound to before you started it or something.

>Also supposedly the combat system is esoteric.
>Can I go in blind, or is that just a recipe for failure?
I was worried about that too when I started, but it's not that bad. You have 50 save slots so make sure you use them such as after each battle. You get extra mana which you use for everything if you finish the mission sooner, but even if you get a bad rank you should be fine. Although, you'll probably get into the habit of loading back to before you fought a battle if you realized that you could have picked better moves. I think there's permadeath for side characters if I recall correctly. There are buildings too, but you should be able to figure those out.
If you want you can search for guides on Steam (including a very useful pdf), but for a first playthrough just remember that pairing up the MC with any heroine/s gives points towards her route when you defeat an enemy squad. I'd recommend Aselia in case you only want to do one, but I enjoyed all of the routes. There's a bonus ending if you do all of the routes, but don't force yourself going for it because it's just a fun little bonus scene and not a True Ending. Hold Ctrl to skip dialogue or more importantly speed through the battles (I think there's a skip button too, but I never used it).

>Dungeon Mori
Comfy dungeon crawling. Not particualrly stressful, but you will die(and it will probably be your fault). Nice aesthetics, including OST.
>Mortal Glory 2
Arena-based tactics. Build your own gladiator team. Gets kinda mean outside of the baby difficulty.
>Brush Burial: Gutter World
Sexy monstergirl Hitman w/ a side of Thief. Recently got a murderhobo score-attack mode, if you just want combo kills. A ton of tacticool and sexy outfits to unlock for the PC. Third game coming later this year.
>Overlooting
Acquire loot in turn-based encounters and evolve it. Set bonuses are your class and you can mix and match. Areas have different paths and non-combat encounters. Enemies tend to have synergies, so pick your targets wisely. Inventory and resource management matter.
>Monmusu Gladiator
Monster girl trainer. Training is a bit like a board game, you spend spaces to play cards. You're trying to balance comboing stat increases w/ landing on fights and events to acquire gold and items. Fights are real-time and you can let your monster girl auto-use skills or manually activate them. You have to progress her through multiple leagues and some fights are unavoidable.
>Dungeonmans
Classic top-down dungeon crawling w/ an inheritance system(for your dungeonman). Has a pay2lose dlc if you hate yourself. Bonus: modding custom sprites in for your character is fairly easy.
>Catlike Magic
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2118110/Catlike_Magic/
Simple, fun, and cheap bullet hell + heaven. Cute monster girls and some busted spell synergies. Has set areas and fights, not endless.

>12 reviews
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4117970/catgirl_bloodhunt/

This is a pretty unique top-down arcade shooter, twin-stick if you will but auto-aim is an option.
Your goal is to kill 20-100 enemies in each level, depending on difficulty. The twist is that your character can only move straight to the next wall. You cannot stop, you cannot move just one step.

Once you kill the first enemy, a timer starts and you have to kill another enemy to add seconds. If the timer runs out it's game over. Your ammo is also your hp and you periodically have to pick up health items.
Each level features new enemies that can shoot at you, become invisible, merge, split or that are clones of yourself that shoot when you shoot. And of course there are environmental hazards that you have to avoid while only being able to travel straight to the next wall.

It's pretty hectic and hard mode is fucking difficult but it's great fun. The soundtrack is fucking awesome and included in the game's folder.

Picture related is bait. The gameplay visuals look like shit. But good shit.

Sounds good? Great! Go and buy it.
Sounds like shit? Shut the fuck up and buy it anyway. You won't regret it.

Humanity is dead but you've got a score to settle. You play as giant robo girls fighting robo aliens. An arena shooter where terrain is usually destructible, everything is a projectile that has travel time, and there're even stealth mechanics.
If you get it do the EX missions.

Good stuff. A bit too reliant on ambushes for my liking and the enemy readability is not always the best but the game really goes hard in the later parts.

It's fun. It looks cute, has comfy music, pretty-looking shopkeepers, and fairly solid gear variety to make funky builds with. My character is a skelly battlemage that focuses on self-buffing and then rapidly delivering basic attacks while maintaining his HP and MP via direct attack vampirism.

I was going to make a game but seeing all those anon games with almost no reviews it would be like a confirmation that I am not the world's main character and I can't cope with that
>>
>>742070831
I mean I usually have a hard time playing any games without a significant story attached to them. My favorite kinds of games are usually shit like labyrinth of galleria/deltarune/demons roots and stuff like that. Crystal project was good enough to make up for that though.
>>
>>742070941

Labyrinth of galleria is genuinely the best game of all time and will probably never be topped for me. I cannot recommend it enough. Please buy and play it right now.
Gameplay is a little rough around the edges compared to refrain though, the dungeons have a lot less variety. But the story is like an 11/10. Demons roots is also really good.

Charging anything more than somebody else pirating the game for these people would get you burned at the stake alongside your family, but they'll all almost certainly whine about things like the cost of living being too high or wages being too low. You like deckbuilders?
>Roguebook
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1076200/Roguebook/
A few clever twists on the premise help elevate this above a mere Slay the Spire clone. You form a party of two characters, from four (or five with DLC). Spend inkwells to make paths across the map for rewards and challenges before tackling the boss. Has about 2000 english reviews, so not that obscure.
>The Spirit Lift
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1727590/THE_SPIRIT_LIFT/
Mixes in a light bit of dungeon crawling with quick card combat. Your team of three high schoolers determines your starting deck and what cards and events you'll encounter. Enemy variety is lacking though, so if you want visual variety it won't be your cup of tea.
>URBO
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2141770/URBO/
Basically 2048 with buildings. Fun little puzzler, but not much to say about it.
>Dog Witch
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3548520/DOG_WITCH/
Roll dice and cast spells to defeat enemies. It's got chill lo-fi beats and is largely an irreverent game, with you fighting goofy things like vending machines. It can also feel really unfair at times, so I'd avoid it unless you have a high tolerance for RNG screwing you over.
>Menace From the Deep
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2644610/Menace_from_the_Deep/
Another deckbuilder with an interesting combo system, wherein attacks and defends get stronger the more of them you play on a given turn. Feels a little rigid at times and half-baked at others, but if you can grapple with its idiosyncrasies it's a good time. And has great music.

A fun oldie here that's sitting at 800 reviews. I fully played through the game, and in my experience it really does a nice job at looping dungeon exploration with new tools you find. Combat is extremely simple but pretty satisfying at times once you start building up more skills and magic. I highly recommend sticking with kb+m.
Storyline is fairly generic in the classic JRPG sorts, but the world's aesthetics are very comfy combined with an OST that ranges from decent to good. If you've ever played the more modern Falcom games, the soundtrack is gonna be pretty mellow by comparison until the late-game stages.

The idea of a riddle to get the steam keys amuses me. what the hell.

3 games, three keys. The black numbers are unchanged from the steam key but the red numbers are letters that I changed into numbers with a simple substitution cypher. A=1 B=2 C=3 and so on.

You might notice the first key had the fewest red numbers and would be the quickest to decode, maybe you should go for that one, but maybe the key that has almost nothing but red numbers is a better game, who knows. I hope I didn't make a typo that would be embarrassing. Let me know if you get them.

can't figure out why all these game posters are on the wall because the person who made this game doesn't seem to have any relationship to all these studios maybe he was just doing friends or games he liked a favour? but some of these weren't even out at the time of release i'm confused.

Idols of Ash. Cheap, short and simple game about descending a hole with a rope. Really solid physics and mechanics. It looks quite nice at some points too, not a great screenshot.

But it does one thing special that I've never seen ANY other game do. I'm not even sure it's intentional, or if anyone else had the same experience.

The Pale City
< 100 reviews (I think it has less than 50)

it's a rather simple game, low budget, simplified turn based combat, but with impeccable world building, oppressive and melancholic atmosphere, interesting universe, well written dialogue, and an extremely engaging protagonist.

I wasn't surprised to see that the dev was a book writer, as all of the highlights involve the writing, be it the narration, dialogues or monologues.

It's also not very long, so it doesn't overstay its welcome. I did every single piece of side content in the game, and clocked in around 11-12 hours. Highly recommended

pic is just for grabbing attention

Yume Nikki but 3D. It leans more into realistic dreamscapes but it has a share fair of more out there scenery.

I don't want to post it because it kind of spoils it and it's not even that significant in of itself, but whatever: the game tricks you in to thinking you've finished the game and reached the pinnacle of difficulty within the first ~15 minutes of starting it. Short game, story concluded, done, whatever. It was a bit suspenseful at the end but nothing crazy.

It then unlocks subsequent "bonus" levels, each one playing the same trick, making you think you've finally beat the really hard bit and finished the game. It culminates with the 6th bonus level which is sadistically difficult, and despite not adding any new mechanics (even though the game was simple to begin with), by that point you've mastered the mechanics and it plays like something completely different. To put it in perspective, the first level took as I mentioned 15 minutes, the final one took probably 6 hours of practice.

kino. I stopped playing after the second level after starting way too late one night and just never wrapped back around to it. Good to know it keeps going. Cant say ive seen anything like that either

really pushing it with 1900 reviews but its 6 years old and could have been easilly missed. a very fun grappling hook game. Swinging/speed feels good and the skill ceiling is pretty high. Has workshop access but the user maps arent all that great.

Windjammers 2 a fast paced flying disc arcade game. The design and gameplay is quite simple and fun to master. I try advocate for this game every Summer sale - it has great summer vibes too. I play a few hours every year I love it so much.

yeah I don't think the name of the game will do you much good if that's the level of deductive reasoning you have. say something smarter and maybe I'll tell you.

Fun little top-down racer in a similar vein to something like Over Top but with a bit more of a sim-cade style to it and a Gran Turismo-lite career mode where you can gather a whole garage full of cars and tune them up etc.
All the cars are based on real cars, just named differently to avoid licensing, but it's a simple .txt swap to put the real names back in. Also supports custom soundtracks, just drop the files in the game folder.
It's a bit grindy with a good amount of the later championship restrictions requiring certain types of car, but you typically get rewarded with new cars for winning cups so it's not that bad.
There's also a rally mode which is more arcade-style with shorter stages one after the other as opposed to circuit racing.

JRPG roguelite built in RPGMaker for only 2bux. Has surprisingly decent combat and the story is pretty good, though a bit edgy. I think people tend to pass based on the art style alone which is a shame.

It's a metroidvania that is more about puzzles in individual rooms, it doesn't overstay it's welcome, it isn't repetitive in puzzles/monsters. Some things can be challenging but it isn't too challenging. I like the artstyle, reminds me of maplestory

A completely unique concept rooted in Onmyoudou concepts. You create elemental stars in a water basin and grow and evolve them.
It's a strange and relaxing puzzle game with SoL VN elements creating the story around it.

2D Space Mining sim with an excellent soundtrack that you are guaranteed to never organically find because the title literally starts with a delta symbol. Ship tuning and customization that doesn't go overboard with granularity. Lots of little random events in the rings. A good way to spend a few dozen hours.

Cannot recommend Delta V enough if you like doing blue collar shit in space. It's very cozy. Although I felt like I outstripped the economy game pretty quickly without actually running into too much of the game's 'story' content (and I can't find the fucking bar to save my life). Still, it's definitely worth the $6 they're asking for during the sale.

Also I turned my mining ship into a fuckoff battleship that can actually just chew on large rocks, which is very funny.
>>
>>742090393
I've gotten really lucky on all three of my careers so far and found the bar within the first handful of dives.

Probably my favorite build so far was my racing eagle that actually turned out to be a really good bounty hunting ship.

Never seen so much as a mention of this game on /v/, it's probably the best game I've played this year. Insanely high-effort action platformer for a stupid cheap price. Huge elaborate levels with lots of secrets, intense fights with design sensibilities lifted from Doom (both old and new), crazy bosses and setpieces, punishing difficulty by default with optional challenges and superbosses to try when you've gotten comfortable.

A Difficult Platfomer and Bullet Hell. It's free on steam made by one dude for 10+ years. Has a lot of bosses, ton of secrets. Its story is simple, but certain characters dialogues can be a bit wordy. BS puzzles and platforming with some jumping jank, I had to ragequit several times. Its also a long game, like I have 60+ hours on this game. Go try it.

They see it as a negative because they've been brain rotted by culture war nonsense, they view indie titles and developers in the same way that they do their corporate overlords. Sincerity can't exist because only someone insincere would shill for a company, is their sort of thinking.
