You guys think it's a bad idea to fully reassemble it without testing it? I think that brings good luck though. I'm pretty sure the nip I got it from opened it before though. Other half of the RF shield that covers the chips was missing, unless some models just don't have it (doubt), and he had put the power button spring on the reset button. Should have taken a before and after to show you how filthy it was before I washed it. Looks brand new now. Now I gotta figure out how to make the SD card. I'm so excited to power it up and see it just werk.

Not entirely sure if this is the right place to ask, but I found an old DS flashcard from when I was a kid. I tried using it on my 3DS, but it wouldn’t recognise it until taking it out and putting it back in again multiple times, and when it finally did, I got an error asking me to turn off the console. Is there any way of making it work or is it fucked?

If the flashcart was made before the 3DS or DSi released, no. But you can use nds-bootstrap instead and play most games.

All because of TWO points getting unluckily bridged. Of course this would happen. Of course. >>474034620 digits don't lie. Now I gotta somehow buy a new board specific to this model or get a gay PAL PS1 and DFO mod it while trying to do the xstation AGAIN.

I just saw some tutorial where the dude splurged the flux allover and I thought I should do it too, assuming it's needed for the solder to drip down the middle points of the QSB, so it can reach the pad underneath. I didn't even use as much as he did, but of course TWO of the fucking 4023589234 points will get bridged. Probably flowed too much solder and held it too long. God I'm so pissed right now this is so gay dude.

Hey bros with all the recent 3DS craze I decided to dig on my attic and found both, my Powersaves dongle and a purple r4itt flashcart (without sd card).
I was wondering if there's a way to bypass the password the powersaves asks for since I cant find were I wrote down the password.
As for the r4, anyone can tell me it the thing still works? I barely remember a thing from those days and the places I used back then to get firms are apparently long dead. The flashcard is pic rel (not my pic but same card)
Thanks in advance for any info you can give me bros

On 3DS, in your experience are VC injects more reliable the homebrew NES/GB emulators? And for the official VC releases were they tweaked to perform better?

Gameboy/NES sounds like it should be effortless for 3DS but I tried GameYob3DS and it crashes at the end of Kid Icarus 2, which is kind concerning. And then I tried Megaman on the VirtuaNES and it seems to slowdown slightly more than the VC release.

I'd think the PSP is easier and more promising overall, considering that it has at least two emulators with fully functional debuggers. Compared with the severe, almost terminal autism of no$gba and Desmume's so-called debugger which at least exists, unlike melonDS's (which doesn't). You can also grab the full official SDK off of archive.org and CEX2DEX any retail PSP to get hardware support of it, or don't bother and use homebrew SDK instead. Also, PSP has an actively developed CFW and some kickass here and there while DS scene is dead.

The end result of your efforts will be playable on nearly anything and will look like it's supposed to on any screen, and you'll only lose the touch functionality of a DS. However, MIPS isn't used anywhere relevant, unlike ARM, but that only matters for the assembly-level stuff.

Bro, you dont need to dig deeper, stop!

Seriously tho, out of all options from homebrewable stuff
You took switch.
Not steam deck which has horsepower of a pc and Linux which is easy to mess aorund it
Not actual portable like psp/vita which are roughly in same format and still have sorta living homebrew scenes (recent vita progress made it possible to port Android apps directly and also custom achievements are nice)
Not previous Nintendo portables which actually have a decent library of homebrew.

But, I assume you originally took the console for """games""" and then suddenly realized you want to drink some coffee, its understandable. Still loving you, bro and wishing that switch gets vita type progress. (We recently got an option to hack console just by opening browser website)

I was hasty saying recently but in general big events it is since vita is almost fully open by now. Only thing left is finalizing screen recording options and emulation. (NDS should be feasible in decent framerate but seems not finished yet)

I tried Hextator's in-game editor, but I couldn't get it to give me what I wanted.

Then I tried Marc Robledo's SAV editor, and I managed to inject a weapon, but the Stars didn't show up on it. For some reason, it also altered many of the in-game records on its own which I didn't realize until I restored it because I just scrolled to the bottom without looking at them.

I guess what is "it"? The sigpatches?
Even if I do that and it works, don't I need sigpatches to play games?
>>
>>474789073
>I guess what is "it"? The sigpatches?
no.
I'm going out on a limb here but it's the only thing that makes sense:

your shitty crap guide told you to add "noldrchk" in your hekate ini because the shitty crap sigpatches from that guide had different sigpatches for the firmware ("nosigchk") and for atmosphere ("noldrchk") which was done so back when atmosphere started using its own loader-module.

but pretty much every sigpatches-pack since then (at least those from coomer party, sigmapatches.su and the guides linked here) uses "nosigchk" for both the firmware- and atmosphere-patches. adding "noldrchk" in your hekate ini causes that error message.

so, assuming you are using a proper sigpatches-zip, removing the "noldrchk" stuff from your hekate ini should fix the problem.

no irony, not trying to argue, i want to understand why you need to track what you have installed, when you can do what i said in 5 minutes and not have to worry about the game until new updates, dlc or you delete it. Alternatively, follow the guide on how to hack the Switch that's in the OP, instead of following some random one you found on Google. That should help you fix whatever is causing the issue.
And yes, I mean follow it like you're doing it for the first time or doing a reinstall of the CFW.

You're supposed to do it when powering on the 3DS.
If that still doesn't work then check the files on your SD card. There's some way to change the button to get to those menus, I just don't remember if it's renaming their filenames - like x_godmode9.firm to make godmode9 use the X button - or if it's some other file that you edit in notepad (or whatever text editor you prefer).

>>
>>474838493
so, I used this guide
https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/
because it's the one I saw get thrown around the most, and everything worked as intended, but websites are autistic about piracy and got very little help about how to do that, so all the guides I could find were about how to dump your own files and shit, and that didn't apply to me, so I looked at like 4 or 5 different methods from Google and it was all shit that seemingly stopped working like, 2 or 3 months ago which of course I only learned after doing 80% of the process. So, before finding actual pro-piracy guides, I already installed shit half correctly and then hobbled parts of like 4 other guides. Not particularly intelligent, I know, but I have no frame of reference for how any of this shit works and while I appreciate the retardproof guides they're also a downside since they don't teach me what any of the files do, so when shit breaks I have no clue how to fix it. It's on me though, if I needed piracy advice, coming to 4chan should have been the obvious answer.

I don't have those weird screwdrivers the joycons need. I tried to clean the stick with some rubbing alcohol but I don't think it does much since it doesn't even go inside it. this is caused by debris in the resistive tracks the sticks move across. What used to do is move the stick around randomly in X and Y so as to "sweep" the track and clear it. It's clean for a while with no drift but after using it some more it will get more debris eventually

I had tried with cmd but PowerShell... tells me "Python was not found". Even if I try from the Python 3.0 folder I was told to use. cmd however is telling me that there's no module named PIL... which was the clue I needed.
Turns out I needed to download a more recent version of Python than the last one I had (3.4), then run [python -m pip install Pillow] to install the module since previous versions weren't compatible, THEN run the command. From cmd because PowerShell was a little bitch.
Thank you.

>>474970803
Can't do that if his 3DS broke down, right?
>>474968452
You'd probably need everything on "Nintendo 3DS", and then use another tool to force-install all keys (since obviously you can't launch those games otherwise).
I needed to do that once when my 3DS suddenly decided I was not allowed to play my games (they were still there in data management but didn't show up on the menu), some anon, I think it was this homebrew https://github.com/ihaveamac/faketik/releases/
I think it should also restore save data but I can't be certain, afterall I used this with titles that were originated on my console.

I see some stuff in that list that is or might be deprecated. Might want to keep it somewhere to see if you canget updated versions of them though, can't hurt to have more payloads and apps.

Weren't there like three different sources of joycon drift? That was one, but I also remember something about the metal "legs" on the stick damaging the pads, and thethird one I think it was a problem with pressure that could be fixed by folding a piece of paper several times and wedging it below the joycon.

Anyway, the first thing is cleaning by spraying isopropyl alcohol or some specialized cleaner. Tilt the stick to one side, then spray the opposite edge, repeat the other way around. Finally rotate the stick several times both ways. It needs to reach the pads though so you need something that does spray it with some force.
Next step is buying a screwdriver (they're pretty inexpensive, more than the cleaner) and placing some folded paper or a piece of cardboard under the stick, look up how to do it.
If those don't work, try buying a replacement stick and, well, replacing the one of your joycon.
Lastly it's giving up and handing Nintendo more money for a defective product.

I have a hacked Switch and for more than a year everything has been perfect until I decided to buy a month of NSO last year and noticed my custom games in the NSO NES, SNES and GBC apps ALSO appear in CFW Sysnand which led me to fear a potential ban for even running the app with the custom games (this was months ago and I'm happy to say everything is still fine)

just UU. I really can't be bothered to do a system wide region change considering there are ways to brick my system because of it. Unless this kind of thing happens on other homebrew apps as well?

>>475009569
I don't. Although it does work, it's far from 100% in my experience, so I ended up saving manually before trying to use RTS, which makes RTS useless. The PSP does save states much more reliable.
Maybe RTS works better if the cheats are not active at the same time, but the cheats are far more important than RTS to me.

>>
>>474973743
So I tried transferring over the whole Nintendo 3DS folder after installing CFW hoping it transfers over all of the games and saves I had installed but it just took up space with nothing to show for it.
>>
>>475055169
Yeah that doesn't work because it's considered a different console.
Try using the faketik thing that is linked on the post you replied to. Dunno if that works when your transferring stuff between different consoles, but you could get lucky.
Other than that, the solution is probably between having a backup of your broken 3DS or manually digging around in the obnoxious file naming and structure that Nintendo uses to try to find your saves.
>>
>>475055752
Forgot to mention I used faketik as well but it just said something about there being no tickets available. I do have a back up of the files (image on my first post) but I don't know how to transfer them over. I don't even care about games, I can download those again. Just the salvaging the saves is all I want.

I'm afraid YOU didn't quite get my question. I perfectly know what each nand does. I'm using almost exclusively CFW Sys because I'm still playing a lot of my legit games while taking slight advantage of homebrews like save backups.

I just can't be bothered with returning to stock Sys because I never got a normal jig and went with using my own paper clip and can't always use that due to the risks.
I was just wondering if there was a way to prevent a custom NSO SNES database from emunand from appearing in cfw sysnand, I don't think I made such a dumb question.

If in the latter, you will have to backup your saves and nuke the app and updates from sysnand using a title manager, then reinstall the official one without customs games from the store or through an unmodded nsp

Finally found a N2DS in mint condition for roughly $200 or so. Thing is, it's a 2DS. Though it's mint, how's the build quality compared to N3DS XL? And do you still have to unscrew the backplate to access the micorSD?

picrel, the slot is next to the cart slot, at the bottom.
FYI, you don't really need to do that on a hacked 3DS, just use ftpd on the 3DS to transfer files through your network (use Filezilla or something like that on your PC)
As extra details:
>the N2DS speakers are in worse positions than on the N3DS
>replacing the battery on the N3DS is just "remove backplate (2 screws and it's easy to remove), pop old battery out, pop new battery in, put backplate on again" while N2DS is "unscrew bottom plate (4 screws, you'll need a spudger to help remove it, and you'll also have to "open" the hinge bit to be able to do it), lift carefully to avoid ripping the wires for the speakers that are on either side, disconnect said wires and pay attention because the volume slider will probably fall off, and then carefully move the lid back carefully so you don't rip the ribbon cable in the for the screens that connects the board to the bottom plate, and then do all that in reverse to put it back together"

The site I found the portable on says mint condition (which is one step below new condition) and the photos seem okay. Screen in particular isn't piss yellow like so many on display at ebay. In any case, I'm guessing any aftermarket 3DS regardless of model needs a replacement battery due to no charge or something? I have two weeks to decide, assuming someone else doesn't beat me to it. I'd much prefer a N3DS XL if possible but I'm willing to compromise if it means playing imports on actual hardware.

Also, don't you have to have the 3DS to enable (s)ftp to begin with?

What I posted is about the N2DS XL, the one that has the clamshell design like the o3DS and N3DS.
As for the battery, I don't even remember how old my N3DS XL is but I've played it an ungodly amount of hours over the years and haven't felt the need to replace the battery yet.
I just mentioned that as more of a "just in case" thing that you might need/want to do later on.
>Also, don't you have to have the 3DS to enable (s)ftp to begin with?
The console has a native file transfer thing, yeah, but from my experience it's more annoying to use/unstable than ftpd.

>>475110981
>Did they use a similar blueprint for this one?
Dunno, but they're probably talking about repairs that aren't just "replace battery". Even the small o3DS just needs you to unscrew 4 screws and remove the bottom plate to get to the battery: https://youtu.be/0k1M06jDVG4
For comparison's sake, here's the N2DS: https://youtu.be/qTq2hMp5OCU

Aside from coming with a carrying case, as I said before this is mint condition and stated to be barely used. Hard pressed to find on ebay, where yellowed screens seem to be the norm. I'll give it a few days but as there's no telling when a N3DS XL will pop up at a similar price (if at all), I'm leaning towards the N2DS XL.

>>
>>475195879

>>
>>475194690
I sure just that's not the case. Or rather not the only case.
Some would ask what was the problem with the console, then after telling them what I wanted they told me they don't work with this system period.
Many others told me that if it was fixing anything or resoldering something that snapped off, they could do it, but soldering in a device that can beused for piracy is illegal so they can't do it above water and they weren't risking their business. Most of those gave me pointers about trying in this or that shop, or looking in second-hand portals and apps for people selling the service.
After checking almost every shop in this city (save a few I wouldn't trust even with a popular phone or a game boy), I tried online. In those portals and apps I found like three different ads, two of which were dead ends and the other one had awful feedback.
I googled around some more and found other ads and forums, most of which were either close, had no feedback or it was very mixed. Inthose same forums, users recommended people not to say their guy's name or shop in the open so they wouldn't get the cops on their doorstep (I made so many throwaway forum accounts to check those...).
I finally found one guy with a lot of exclusively positive feedback in a forum. But the sign up process in that one was convoluted and very restricted, it took me MONTHS to get an account (which is probably why the guy is still in business). Meanwhile I kept looking around and nothing much popped up, with the same resutls as before.

So yeah, with everyone from repair shops, to random users, to the guy that actually did the job saying the same and with how hard it was to find anything, I am pretty certain that soldering modchips is illegal over here.
>>
>>475196835
Rude.
>>
>>475197737
them not wanting to risk it doesn't mean it's illegal, there's plenty of that in lots other fields. Hell, nintendo themselves and other companies have sued people for completely legal stuff just to scare them into stopping what they were doing, even if it was indeed legal, which is what those shops don't want to risk
you could say it effectively doesn't matter at that point and it might as well be considered illegal, which i agree
>>
>>475195706
you actually made me check and i can't find anything about it, only exceptions are industrial/dangerous batteries where they'll still need to be made removable/replaceable but by professionals instead, everything else has to be made so that even the most tard of tards can replace them

Lookimg deeper into it, it has been legally contested several times and ruling mostly fall in favor of the modchip provider.
"Mostly" meaning that sometimes it doesn't, and either way the lawfare is real. Either way, there's no law explicitly allowing hardware modifications at minimum.

I've woken up from my x year slumber. Any word on a jailbreak for the PS4 above 9.00? I am very eager to finally mod it so I can play everything from PS2 to PS4 games on it. I have a fully jailbroken PS3 (phat), but it runs hot and the fans are too loud. Is there any real point to waiting for the >9.00 jailbreak, or should I just get off my ass and clean/repaste my PS3? One of the main reasons for why I want to jailbreak my PS4 (aside from free games) is because I want to be able to run the Noncestar client on it for Titanfall 2. I'm assuming that by using it, I won't have to have PS Plus to play online with all the other sweats.

My switch has been struggling to read off of my sd card lately. Shutdown the switch with an error a few times.

I’m like 99% positive it’s the actual SD Card reader in the switch and not my SD Card but I just tested with H2testW anyway and got interesting results I guess?
Writing speed: 71.1 MByte/s
Reading speed: 84.5 MByte/s

I have a sandisk extreme which should have a read speed of 200Mbytes/s but it clearly doesn’t. I was using an sd card reader USB c connector so that could explain the drop a bit.

Anyway would games still run on the switch without crashing if thr SD card only had a read speed of 85ish Mbyte/s? or is my sd card dying and not the sd card reader.

New sd card would be easier obviously so I’m kinda hoping for that
>>
>>475430712
try it with a different card if possible, the speed is unlikely to be the usb-c reader's fault
>>
>>475430712
also why did you repeat your post as an image
>>
>>475430712
sandisk extreme is advertised at 200MB/s with an asterisk that that is the peak performance in optimal conditions using their proprietary card reader, average performance i’ve gotten on mine without the special reader is about 80MB/s so i’d say that urs is accurate

Another question. Or perhaps one more for now. How many consoles can be natively emulated on the N2DS XL? I speak of those that don't require any external emulators like SNES9x and Retroarch. The kind that can be installed on the menu itself. I know there's at least some kind of hidden GBA functionality that homebrew managed to unlock, but I don't know the details.
>>
>>475514934
>How many consoles can be natively emulated on the N2DS XL? I speak of those that don't require any external emulators like SNES9x and Retroarch.
These don't have the same meaning. NES, SNES and GB VC titles are emulated and appear on the home screen, while open_agb_firm and twilightmenu++ play games natively but not through the home screen.

I know someone somewhere (probably on /vp/) ages ago did something like that with a Pokemon Crystal romhack.

The easiest thing is to just search around for a premade vc pack someone else already did. Otherwise the software is up on gbatemp somewhere.
I strongly recommend just using open_agb_firm for gba games and an r4 card for ds games, everything else is a big old hassle.
>>
>>475517104
>I strongly recommend just using open_agb_firm for gba games and an r4 card for ds games
Don't know what the former is and the latter I already have.

One site I frequent for ROMs doesn't have that functionality but I rather convert/inject them myself. I doubt premade packs have literally every single game ever anyway.

>Don't know what the former is
It's the thing that lets you play GBA games natively without having to fiddle with creating VC injects. It doesn't have the option of having the games on the home menu, but you access it by holding Start while turning the console on, so it's pretty quick to get there.
Also, just in case this matters to you, extracting saves from VCs is more convoluted than just getting the .sav files from the open_agb_firm option (or emulators, for stuff like NES, SNES, etc).

Put simply, it's a fancy menu that lets you run DS games on your SD by using nds-bootstrap. It's meant to be a replacement for flashcarts.
It also has emulators to let you play other stuff like GBA and other consoles.
>I'm guessing open_agb_firm opens up a list of GBA ROMs to select not unlike an R4 card?
Yeah, pretty much. But it's using the console's native support of GBA games to play them, while the R4 uses emulation, IIRC.

>>475520887
Don't have one and I'm almost certain the Switch can emulate it.

>>475521774
I don't think the flashcart I have is emulating the .nds files I stuffed within its own microSD card. Granted, I got that on some whim I forgot. Wasn't all too wise with purchases back then but it did prove useful for a time. I should get things started as early as tomorrow. Only major hurdle is transferring everything from my O3DS, considering its CFW borders on ancient (I'm talking 2012-2014).
>>

You have it backwards, twilight menu is some hacky bullshit that still has numerous compatibility errors while r4 flashcards run 2ds games natively just as if you stuck the 2ds cart in the slot
