the good thing is that emulation is even more accessible to many users. not being limited to certain devices. Iphone or iOS in general who aren't meant to be emulation machine is getting another function.

I got my own profile where I share dookie content of sexy hoes. It's MrPopo_TheLandlord.
Look at that sexy ass. Fuck my guy I need to gape it and let the fucking faucet run.
In the winter I fill my balaclava with shitpaste from my ugly bitch wife.
Dont worry though my guys my daughter finna be 21 next month and I am going to make some moves. She could use the action.

I got a question here for you guys. I was recently using finalburn neo in retroarch and randomly some sprites in metal slug 4 became transparent. The heavy machine gun icon was kind of see through and you could see stuff behind it. I went to the blend folder and deleted these .bld files for metal slug 3 and 4 and now the games work perfect. My question is, what the hell was that? I don't have these bld files for all games just some of them have it. And it seems like they're broken sometimes. What the hell are these files and why are they being downloaded if they're broken? What do they do anyway? Also what am I removing when I delete them?

It’s funny how android tablets biggest problem (how most of its apps are just scaled up phone apps) can also be its biggest advantage because that means every app works. meanwhile pic related iPad can’t even scale up phone apps. What timing that all the emulation stuff on iOS started coming out as soon as I got my iPad, but using this thing makes me yearn for a surface or something. Just windows sucks ass on tablets and surface has shit battery

It's even funnier when you consider Delta existed for a while now, I used that shit when I made the mistake of getting an iPhone like 5 years ago. Hell, even on 5s days there were other emulators. iFags are just cattle and think their expensive toys are limited to whatever Apple restricts them to, jailbreaking and installing external apps was braindead easy back in the day and yet it didn't catch on.
>>
>>474642827
It has been a while since I messed with Arcade emulation, but I think these files make dithered textures look transparent (like they would be on the original hardware). But even RetroArch recommends removing them so dunno what the fuck they are doing.

Dude Yakuza was literally made by same people who worked under Yu Suzuki on Shenmue.
>>
>>474670390
So they were able to make a good game without his influence.
>>
>>474670773
No, Yakuza was made possible solely because Shenmue exists, not in spite of it. Yakuza uses a fuckton of ideas, quirks and mechanics which Shenmue pioneered. Yakuza is not anti-Shenmue, it's more like Shenmue 2.0 or even 3.0, because it's everything that is Shenmue, but increased tenfold, it's Shenmue on steroids. Shenmue itself could've been like Yakuza, if it wasn't restrained by insufficient budget and lackluster hardware tech at the time.

Yes, Shenmue is one of the most expensive video games ever produced and made, and stayed that for many years, but even that budget was still not enough to fully realize everything Yu Suzuki invisioned and planned. Yu Suzuki is like Japanese Chris Roberts, in that way, but much more trustworthy and had as way bigger pedigree in the industry, there is a legitimate reason why he's being titled "Sega's Shigeru Miyamoto".

Also investigates bigblackcar, drinks soda, helps elderly woman to find house, feeds cat, does raffles and gacha, goes to the arcade and plays some great classics, goes to his home and plays on the Sega Saturn with discs he won in the aforementioned raffle, does QTEs done right, increases HP and armor by training, learns new moves by interacting with masters and reading scrolls in Chinese which he can't understand (so he then goes and searches for some Chinese who can read it for him), increases levels and mastery of those said moves, saves beautiful girls from drunkards, saves beautiful girls from thugs, saves beautiful girls from Chinese mafia, looks for some sailors, does part time job, drives a forklift, plays darts and blackjack with whores at the kinocasino, gets scammed at a fake touring agency, and many other stuff.

it's obviously no longer relevant for ADHD zoomers of today in a post GTA/RDRslop world but at the time it was fucking mindblowing and I still think it hold up today as an adventure/action game, if you have some tastes and a little bit of patience and try to understand what those 2 games tried to do. I still think the adventuring gameplay is far better in Shenmue 2 than any Yakuza/open world games where you just follow the red arrow and mash buttons through the shitton of meaningless combat scenes until the end of the game. A literal monkey could beat this games and normalfags love this.
Where did this Shenmue discussion come from anyway
>>
shen poo
>>
>>474691669
i dont understand this cope because good games remain good games over time because theyre still fun to play
shenpoop has nothing going for it in the fun department because the gameplay is terrible
>>
>>474691564
In retrospect of course all the games got ported after the console died, but back in 99'/2000 it was the DC owners who had the most fun by far, it was almost embarrassing how many great games the DC had in it's short lifespan. It's well documented how long it took the PS2 to get actually great games again past it's launch window.
>>
>>474692234
People who say shit like this haven't played it or just don't understand what the games did right. The gameplay is still great. You have adventure sections asking you to interact with the world and think your way through, instead of the game slapping quest markers everywhere like every fucking games since Skyrim, and the combat was mostly Virtua Fighter which btw still mogs the shit out of Tekken to this day. It was dumbed down VF but that's still better than the sloppy cinematic bullshit of overrated trash released today like Yakuza of Ghost of Onions.
I'm not saying the games aged badly, I'm saying the audience of today is no longer intellectually able to appreciate what Shenmue offered.
>>
>>474692282
PS2 launch titles were much better than the shovelware lineup of DC. Most DC games that people consider "good" came in 2000/2001, and they were no match to what PS2 was getting around the same year.
>>
>>474692838
name one element of the game that is as good as something in another game
the jrpging walking around sections are clunky and waste a ton of time
the combat is watered down vf as you said, why not just play the real thing
i would say shenmues combat is the same tier as the bouncers which is just watered down tekken, also trash
i agree that yakuza is trash also btw
>>
>>474692282
>but back in 99'/2000 it was the DC owners who had the most fun by far
later ps1/n64 was much better
>>
>>474692282
>back in 99'/2000 it was the DC owners who had the most fun by far
How can you say this with a straight face? MM, Banjo, Perfect Dark, FFIX, Gran Turismo 2, NFS HS, R4, Driver, Ape Escape, Vagrant, Chrono Cross, etc. DC had fuck all that even got close to any of these games. All it had was muh arcade ports, Sonic and Shampoo. That shit flopped for a reason.
>>
>>474694882
>Shampoo
lol
and you forgot smash on n64, it came in 99
>>
>>474695098
There's probably a bunch more. I just googled a few late games I remembered and picked the ones from 99/2000. It's enough to make the point that DC had a pitiful library even when put against last gen consoles on their way out. Most of its marketing consisted on jerking off to graphics with Soul Calibur and claiming Arcade quality. It was a shit console and the market received it as such.

>>
>>474694882
Wasn't anon talking only DC vs the PS2?
Also, Sonic1&2, VF3, Skies, JSR, MSR, MDK2, RE CV, Shenmue 1&2, Sega Rally 2, Soul Calibur and a shitton of other fighters from Tecmo/SNK/Capcom, online games like PSO and Quake 3, Grandia, lots of now iconic shmups, and meanwhile the PS2 had Ridge Racer and a firework simulator.
>>
>>474703012
No, he insisted on putting it on the same box as N64 and saying DC had a better year. These games were nothing compared to what PS1/N64 were getting at that time span, even though you mentioned shit that wasn't even from 99/2000. If you want to compare their entire libraries, it'll be just a massacre.
Now if you want to compare it to PS2, then all you need are the launch titles (much better than DC's launch) + 2001, which was the nail in the DC and Sega's coffin.
>>
>>474701653
btw Wii was better than DC. Just wanted to say that to watch you seethe (still true).

The N64 has basically nothing, so that's easy. The PS2 only got better when Sega had already gave up, that's also easy. The DC is a beloved console because of how good it's game output was before that point. (you) not liking the game is a (you) issue (as well as tastes and skill).

>The N64 has basically nothing, so that's easy.
Majora's Mask and Perfect Dark are better than any game in DC's library
>The PS2 only got better when Sega had already gave up, that's also easy.
DC died when PS2 arrived. Sega didn't give up, they got absolutely destroyed.
>The DC is a beloved console because of how good it's game output was before that point.
It's not beloved. No one liked it and the only people who insist in saying it was anything but trash are some of the autists that are still coping about not getting a PS2. The "game output" was worse than PS1 or N64, specially when we put quality in the equation.
>(you) not liking the game is a (you) issue (as well as tastes and skill).
That goes for you, since basically no one even remembers DC and it's games due to how mediocre and forgettable they were. A game like Crash Bandicoot or Mario 64 are infinitely more memorable than Sonic Electric Boogaloo or any other DC title for that matter. Soulcalibur? VC3? Tekken 3 and SSB were better and more memorable. Skies? FFVII was a much better game. And so on. DC was an embarrassment only beaten by Saturn, Sega deserved everything that happened.

So in this context lazy is like how emulators normally do custom textures, loading them only when the corresponding original texture is loaded in-game, and non-lazy is pre-loading/caching the textures to RAM on boot.
Guess that's actually pretty clever as textures loading in during level load wont have a performance hit, as it's hidden by a load. Also unlike precached textures that are always in RAM (and that you'd always want loaded) you could free the lazy textures when they're no longer needed, freeing up RAM.
Though it doesn't really matter on PC with how much RAM people typically have, everyone can just preload everything.
>>
>>474751789
Did you actually check if the emulator works like that or are you just assuming to save Nintendo's face? Because it makes no sense to not just pre-load everything since they basically only remastered the HUD and changed some weirdly specific stuff like the M in Mario's hat in Mario 64.

I very occasionally check this thread over the years.

I don't understand it anymore. It seems especially circle-jerky and schizophrenic

I guess emulators aren't really a topic that can be talked about actively for years on end, so now only kiwifarms/lolcow schizos are here "milking cows" or whatever you do?
>>
>>474753701
Part of it is just the fact that long-running generals eventually attract terminally online obsessive schizos who won't relent once they decide to make said general their nest. This is especially the case when there's little new stuff happening, so often the general gets stuck discussing the same shit over and over again until people get tired and leave, or else start talking about shit not even tangentially related to the topic. Now compound this with the fact that the emulation scene itself is full of autists, weirdos and even outright schizos, and it's no wonder it's all this general finds itself talking about when it's actually on-topic.
>>
>>474753701
>circle-jerky
False, I've been to actual circle jerk generals and they look nothing like this, actually this is probably the least circle-jerky general I've been to since everyone seems to hate each other's guts and namefags don't exist. Also no gay shit, thanks God.
>schizophrenic
We have some regular schizos who will take a day, sometimes even weeks off to ruin the thread, pushing their narratives or just posting random shit, so there's that.

And yes, emulation is a finite topic, this place is basically a help desk when there's nothing new going on.

If anything this general is quite healthy considering how long it has been around, most generals this old either turn into discord tier ERP chambers or simply implode due to off-topic shitposting.
>>
>>474756393
Yeah, I can attest to the latter. /sc2g/ was one of the oldest generals, and I witnessed its descent into pure madness well before it got literally banned from /vg/. It's one of the only games that's almost impossible to discuss anywhere on 4chan as a result, despite being actively played to this day. It's too new and too different from OG Starcraft for retro gamers, too old and too hard to play for new gamers, and it's not allowed to have a general because the regulars decided to only post K-pop and schizopost about racemixing.
>>
>>474753701
>or whatever you do?
we are emulating what the emulation scene has always been since the start of time to the point where discussion landed on uokedit and became a dull pc affair.

Most C++ programmers are turning C arrays into std::array and std::vector, then comes Danny, defacing someone's code by doing the exact opposite.
>>
>>474811516
This is one of the biggest problems libretro has as an organization. There's no clear demarcation lines in responsibilities. As a project lead, Danny should be comfortable leaving core development into the hands of more competent coders who know the codebase, but too often he just goes and does whatever the fuck he wants without asking. I tried playing Panzer Dragoon Orta on the current build, but it's quite slow. On the xemu page it says there is a known issue with a performance regression. That thread mentioned this older version runs the game faster. I'm sure if you have a x3D cpu or something it will still work fine on the current build, but I'm hoping this older one will let me get full speed on my 8700k. The main developer slowed down considerably the past year, although they have some spurts like macOS support
One of the other devs slowed down about two years ago and officially left last month
The other dev has also slowed down and contributes less than the main dev these days afaik

Due to the above, most of changes now are either UI or refactoring. There's not much for monthly reports, especially with some months being very inactive.

For what it's worth, there is still steady progress and gdk is somewhat active again but you never know how long that will last.

Any known issue for RPCS3 that degrades performance over (play)time? It happens even if I turn off video/audio rendering I move the cursor around randomly on the grid (TRPG) for like a minute, and the performance begins to tank. If I then stop the game and restart it, it's still busted. I have to restart RPCS3 to get it back to the desired framerate.
I've been dicking around with it for too long now though and have to go to sleep.
>>
>>474877954
I would just try a build(s) between 0.0.17 and 0.0.23. Newer RPCS3 is more compatible but much less stable than a few years ago.

It requires a considerable effort to backport a large C++11 (or above) project to C++03/C++98, and even more to C89, far beyond what Danny can do. Just changing std::arrays into C arrays is the work of a deranged person, as std::array is just a thin (compile-time) wrapper around C arrays that solve multiple issues and limitations.

Nothing Danny does makes sense, but I don't think he is a sperg. Spergs are social train wrecks, but they tend to be high-functioning individuals, and Danny is just retarded. Maybe schizo or bipolar fits him better, maybe both.
His commits break projects he makes money on, drive contributors away and damage his reputation, both as a coder and as a leader. Sounds to me like voices in his head are telling him what to do.

so... what's this "vulcan" thing?
is there any reason to not set it as default for some psx games?
>>
>>475132989
Changing the renderer alone shouldn't be doing anything special unless you were running software. What you actually changed is the resolution. Also PSX just looks like shit, it shouldn't be like this at all, especially not with all this filtering.
>>
>>475133512
sorry, I don't know enough to understand what you meant.
I had the default settings and then changed to this vulcan thing, maybe, I'm not completely sure. What'd be the recommended settings to "filter it" (if that means making it look better)?
or does this vary depending on the game?
>>
>>475125678
I'll look into that. Thank you.
>>
>>475134123
If you're happy with how it looks you don't need to change anything, play however you want to play. "Vulkan" is just the name of the renderer the emulator is using to display the graphics, it's just like DirectX and you should know what that is. You don't need to change that at least.

It's better if you learn by yourself because that bit about making games look better is entirely subjective

Dive into the wiki then settle for something you are comfortable with and that works well on your machine.

There is no more Zelda or Warriors general so I'm asking here.
How would I setup some kind of streaming for splitscreen games on Ryujinx or any emulator?

TIL my shitty laptop's display can run at 48Hz. If I use it together with "scale to host refresh rate" in PCSX2 I can play PAL roms with very smooth performance and low frame times. I think I lose about 4% emulation speed when doing this so it's less "hardware-accurate", but whatever. Probably the best way I can run PS2 games on Intel UHD 620.
>>

Check
https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Computer_specifications
Depends on the emu but you'll want a good enough nvidia GPU (something like a 2070S/3060ti or 4070, avoid the 4060ti), AMD's gpu aren't exactly recommended but they're no longer as bad as they used to for emulation.
For cpu anything with high single threaded perf will work fine. 8 core is optimal if you care about the PS3. I think people should avoid the 2 last generation of Intel cpus but buy whatever you want that's recent and mid to high end and you'll have no issues with performance.

recently early ddr games got dumped and yet no improvements to how the game actually plays the igs pgm still has sound issues such as knights of valour sounding like death and being choppy,
ddr I'm pretty sure doesn't boot up at all,
cv1000 games still need you to fuck with a million fake dipswitches and blitter settings instead of having the blitter that the pcb would normally come with and more.
And yet instead they'd rather port a million fucking 80s computers and chess machines and slot machines dear god somebody tell the mame people to remove the infestation of mess already!

Which needs more work of the two Xbox consoles that got off the ground in terms of getting emulated? Xbox 360, or OG Xbox?
>>
What is the difference between ROM and ROM rev1?
>>
>>475514594
I'd say Xenia, it still has dogshit performance, visual issues, doing any sort of upscaling raises the hardware demands immensely, and an audio system that just barely works and has massive delays unless you're using Canary builds. I can just about run games on Xenia with my 1060 at 1080p with sub-60FPS but with acceptable fluidity, but trying to go 2x is an instant performance kill. Out of all the exclusives that I've tried, Midnight Club: LA is the most gimped. Can't see vinyls, serious audio issues, and a generally unpleasant experience. I played through Red Dead Redemption on it and it was fine, and through Saints Row 2 which was more stable than the PC version with GOTR.

xemu on the other hand, I tried running Halo and it was fine, upscaling was great, the emulation performs well, however the one OG Xbox exclusive that I wanted to play, it's version of Serious Sam, suffers from some serious seizure inducing visual glitches that just render the game unplayable. I still feel that xemu is doing better than Xenia, but then again, seventh gen consoles are the hardest to emulate.

>>475538940
Yeah, Red Dead Redemption under Ryujinx runs way better with higher quality than under Xenia. I guess emulating an ARM console with the computing power of a mid range smartphone isn't nearly as hard as emulating a clusterfucked custom architecture from the late 2000's. Though sometimes a given game is only on a given platform, so you either have a half-decent emulator for it or you're SOL if you don't have the right console. Before the Switch port, Xenia was your best bet for Red Dead Redemption. But other exclusives from that time, like Saints Row or Midnight Club: LA don't have the luxury of the publisher giving a fuck about them.

>>475544308
I wonder now, does Midnight Club: LA runs better under Xenia Canary or RPCS3? Maybe the RPCS3 version would be more tolerable on my PC, or not.

he's right, on xenia you don't have a compatibility list, you basically have a list of games that work without game breaking issues
which aren't a lot
>>
>>475545970
Don't forget the fact that literally every game has game specific patches to fix something. It isn't like RPCS3 where you can optionally use patches to disable AA or a patch to enable 60fps. You need patches to get most games working, and if a game doesn't have patches, chances are it doesn't even run.

What's the problem? It worked fine here, with 60fps patch even.
>>
>>474618662
Does anyone have a link for a recent RTGI?
>>
>>475686003
I have a strong cpu so maybe that's why but in my experience with Ryujinx has problems with shader compilation stutter but it still stutters way less overall compared to Yuzu. And it's really just as fast.
About audio I've never seen any problems so far (I believe you though)
>>
>>475689928
Audio would eventually desync quite bad. Usually finishing one or two quests was enough to notice it. If I remember right, using SDL2 instead of whatever the default is could prevent it.

I haven't tried it in a while but I don't think there's really been any changes that could have fixed it since I last saw it reported on Discord.
>>
>>475694658
Well, I can't say I have experienced that. Are you on Windows?

I'm not too sure myself, but I do know that hoarding things such a high to extreme degree has to do with the brain, not the genitals, as does GID. Then there's the fact that such conditions are not by default mutually inclusive. BTW If a man can end up with a hoarding problem regarding something, so can a woman be effected by it.
>>
>>475701549
The common thread is low functioning autism. It's no coincidence that most hoarding happens around games that attract chris chan tier diaper shittering retards like Pokemon and Bullet hells.

Overlap, sure, but Correlation would be more accurate a term overall. Spectrumnews.org is but one site, and while there is truth to it, it is of the bullshit camp that claims ""gender diversity"" as (((gender studies))) (((professors))) and their goons along with most (((common core))) shitheads push upon the populace of many nations as being ""fluid"". Gender IS sex in the grand scheme of things, and it is not a spectrum like color perception is.
>>475702645
Indeed, that is true. GID, as is also the case with Schizophrenia and dementia start in the nervous system.
>>475706142
Nice bullshit baseless claim Mr. numbskull. I am not a hoarder myself, I tend to play what I have in terms of video games and such. You have nothing but baseless nonsense that is about as worthwhile as thefields of shit and garbage in places like Haiti, most villages in Niger, 49% of the population of Ethiopia, the Indian cities of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mudhol, Brazil's Rio De Janero, Sao Paolo (especially the Favela areas) Pakistan's cities of Quetta, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Islamabad, Karachi, and Multan.

Wrong. You'll part with two. I'll keep one.
>THEN WHY TWO COPIES???
I'll leave it on the grave of my father.
>YOU'RE STUPID!!! UR FATHER WILL NEVER PLAY THE GAME!
That's where you're wrong again. My father killed himself the very day Blast Wind was released. He calculatingly did so. That way, his soul wouldn't be tainted with any more experiences, and he could fully dedicate his energy to reach peak skill in shmups. Father's soul will perfectly bend with the disc, which he intends to beat in a single perfect playthrough, on the hardest difficulty and in his first try.
>N-N-NOOOO!!! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!!!
Your dead body will need to serve as a necessary sacrifice for the Blast Wind superplay. I'm sorry. But fret not, I'll make sure your remaining copies are buried with you. I'm not a heartless monster. I only take what I really need.

Been trying to emulate the leaked Shantae tv game(cancelled port of the cancelled gba game). Haven't made much progress, though. Using some ancient vsmile emulator I found online as a base. The game does some wonky DMAs and a memcpy that clobbers all of the mmio registers. Not sure if it's just bad bugs in the emulator or if the rom we have is bad.

Don't fall for Nvidia's marketing bullshit, there's nothing ai about their autohdr option
yeah nvidia's solution is sliiiightly better in term of colors according to testers but it extracts dynamic light ranges and highlight details the same way all the other hdr shaders are doing.
nvidia's option doesn't work on Windows 10 though, and fuck that.

How does Fable 2 run (or is it even available to play?) on Xenia?

From the last few posts it seems it runs fine at 1x resolution, but increasing it causes really bad stuttering.

It was a newer site with a retro design. I think it was closer to a blog since I believe it had infinite scroll. I just remember the site looking cool and their lists being ok. Last used it in late 2022

Just one less place to read lists for consoles at when bored, I suppose. Hate how Google spams the copy/pasted lists from retarded sites.
