You'll notice that their ability gets a power spike at Legendary+ and that can be very impactful for some units. Also worth noting that some units are part of the Tower of Origin game mode (which I have no idea if you unlocked yet) that will get you enough shards to level their artifacts to Legendary for free once you can beat the stages. In case you don't want to overlevel them past Leg+ early on.

The Epics are a lot harder to get relatively and even if it's not a character you particularly care about, the game takes advantage of multiple teams and characters later so it helps to passively ascend everyone else in case you need them later.

On higher difficulty levels, Cath casts visible Truth/Lie only once, later she recasts it as a yellow "?" debuff, which indicates the previous effect she applied to that soul. It sounds like a clusterfuck (and it kinda is), but I love this raid. It punishes only your mistakes. Current ESS Adrianne is cool, too. You have to pay attention on her resistance stacks and stun her in the right moment. Then you have to endure her nuke. When she uses up all her power, she receives extra damage from your souls. ESS Boss music is just a cherry on top - these tracks are top notch. ESS Aira doesn't count...
