I finally finished the msq I watched every cutscene and talked to all the npcs between for optional dialogue and even did a few sidequests, I enjoyed the first half infinitely more than the second, it wasn't great but the second half might be the worst slog with some of the worst writing in this game, Wuk was annoying sure but there was at least some sense of character growth with her and despite everything we did just get to fuck around and learn about another continent then when we entered the western area I really thought things were about to take off we were going to get to do cowboy shit for at least a bit then we just turn right back around and go to fight aliensEverything after that moment is a fucking slog, the quests become even more padded, go to the palace then go to the city 3 times in a row that could have been rolled in to one, go talk to this person for the train then this one 5 feet away multiple times, etc, the cutscenes also literally just become one character stating something that someone else just stated in different terms, or recapping events that happened moments before in the case of when you're escorting zoraal's son around, and we also just fucking did this other shard invasion story, half of the msq is just retreading an abbreviated version of EW's post msq but with the forced addition of WukThe last zone is what nearly made me start skipping though, yet ANOTHER elips/amurot but worse, there's not even any fun lore tidbits aside from the lala shit, talk to some irrelevant nobodies then delete them from existence, wuk wanting to get to know them seconds before we kill them is also borderline serial killer shit, I think the credits were also the most low effort they've ever been they really just kind of rushed to brush off all the epilogue within a few seconds Maybe erenville adventures will be comfy but I have so little hope at this point

The story is poorly paced and feels like two different expansions poured into one. first half could have been an expansion about a really in-depth tournament arc with struggles, betrayal, and genuine growth for Wuk Lamat.The second half could have been an epic like Shadowbringers with Sphene paralleling Emet.They failed on both fronts. Though I have to say that the Lv. 99 trial is the best trial I've experienced in the entire game. They nailed Zarool Ja's menacing atmosphere and made him an absolute sociopath lunatic.And the gameplay is the best its ever been. It's finally no longer a snoozefest.Overall I have positive feelings about this expansion, especially because we're getting a new Field Operations zone with this level of gameplay design. Can't wait.

He wrote articles for various sites (I think Destructoid was one of them) on his own time, and he did it _for free_.I'm not knocking him, but he wasn't this great arbiter of taste, and he certainly wasn't a journalist in the proper sense of the word. He was just a guy who played games his whole life and enjoyed writing about them. But I don't think he had any special insight into games beyond what you know or I know.To give these people clicks and to get upset, and then to share the content to try to make others upset... you may as well get worked up about bathroom graffiti.
