The daily boxes give you incremental amounts of EXP which, while helpful, aren't huge amounts even if you get all of them. It would take like 6+ days worth to level up anything past level 6 with those even if it was focusing solely on a single type of gem. So no, not really. But you do need a second person if you plan on doing all the rifts because the milestones pretty much require it.

They added frame delays to neutral dodges (only way to recover from combo loops) so you can no longer escape combos, you have to eat up the infinite until the hitstun delay kicks in. Also, there are a shit ton of characters like arya and harley who both have insane loops that they can abuse for literal seconds and you no longer can dodge them anymore once you get caught in them.
