I'd never thought they could make a better dragon than Midir, but I am happy to have been proven wrong. Bayle is a bloody masterpiece of a boss fight and I almost feel sorry for casuals that summoned le funny NPC and spammed the katana weapon art. Then again, it's not like they'd recognize the brilliance of that fight any way. Easily the single best experience I've had in all of FS games.
I just want to see them make a dungeon as good as the Painted World of Ariamis again some day. Or Tower of Latria.

I haven't been paying much attention to ER discussion since the DLC released, so sorry if this has come up before, but are Thrusting Shields supposed to be this strong? I usually don't use shields that much in souls games, but I wanted to give these a shot since they have a neat gimmick. You can play very recklessly when every one of your moves has a guardpoint, as long as you keep an eye on your stam. The damage on them is also strangely good. I had written these shields off when I first got them, but I've been pleasantly surprised by them at every turn.

Here're Bayle's openings>2-3 hits if you manage to be close when he does his fire-lightning flamethrower >1 hit if you dodge his grab (only one because he immediately strings a combo after if you're close to his head)>3-4 hits in first phase by dodging his divebomb jump backwards, although this is removed by a follow-up in the second phaseThe main problem with Bayle's moveset is that his bread-and-butter combo strings are not actually punishable if you play him like Midir, locked on to the head. In-fact what is optimal is to go inside of him after dodging the final fire-lightning arm stab, get a few hits on his stump and then back away before he breathes fire on the ground. If you try to hit the head after he does his bread-and-butter you'll end up with serious camera issues where he'll easily string a bunch of melee attacks while you have terrible visibility. If you dodge these attacks backwards he strings too fast to hit the head in time. The biggest difference from that to Midir is that Midir strung less combos from his bread-and-butter melee (larger cooldown to punish) and his head positioning didn't fuck with the camera when it was time to punish, and the camera always adjusted so you would have visibility right at the point of his head, which doesn't happen for Bayle.

i fucking hate the phase 2 of the final boss.first phase id say is very fun and enjoyable but its when the 2nd phase hits and every hit is essentially a light show and every 2 swings a light wave is when its not fun. If they do end up nerfing the fight what I would do is keep everything the same except the the 2nd phase light waves he does. when he goes up in the air and dive bombs the field is when he should get the holy buff and starts doing his light show.
