I just wanna say, I played my first run on explorer as a rogue with +3 dex/cha and some cha skills proficiency/expertise, while pressing SPACE to skip every dialogue (but I still understand some shit since glancing for keywords and speedreading is a thing), just following map markers on going on random unexplored directions, and choosing any random option unless there's an ability check involved, in which I always chose it, and if multiple I always chose the one I saw the highest bonus to me. Suffice to say, it was a blast. Never really cared to talk with companions except when exclamation marks.On my second playthrough I did something similar, except on tactician. Was still fun.Now I've decided to start another run, this time without skipping all the yapping, but it been hard. I want to see the dialogue but I also want for just make it go aways since i already know the outcomes.

The experiment is set. Minthara is knocked out after making her hostile in camp. We will wait until act 2 to discover whether she is recruitable. Most people knock her out the usual way, or side with her, I don't see much info on the internet about siding with her halfway and then randomly attacking her in camp, so this is good to test.My hypothesis is that it will work. It's also different than both Law and Chaotic alignments in the same way, because those care about Law for the sake of law and they care about Chaos for the sake of chaos, but NE cares about literally nothing other than one's self, so you can be as chaotic or as lawful as you want to serve your goals, and you can stand happily next to Good party members and not care, as long as they have the same end goal. NE doesn't care about not doing things in an evil manner, whereas NG does refrain from doing things in an evil manner. NE is one of my favorite alignments at the table because it can do anything and the player can justify it through context and characterization, whereas every other alignment has at least one fallback where they can just say "I'm not going to do that because I'm Good" or whatever.Anyway, there are several points in the game where Minth admonishes wanton killing.

This is NE boiled down, and Minthy is consistent in it.But the thing I love most about her is that she is consistent well written NE, but with a soft spot for the player and actually experiences true love, which is meaningful for a NE person because normally they are too selfish to actually pair bond properly.But enough about why I love Minthy. I actually agree that if raiding the grove was the only way to get Minthy, it would be an actual decision to make anew every single playthrough. "Does this character want to do that, for Minthy" would be a question every time, and that's more interesting than just getting your cake and eating it too, no questions to ask yourself, you just get Minthy and you also get Dammon/Alfira robe/etc. Trust me when I say you're preaching to the choir when it comes to the game lacking hard decisions, and the even removed the one hard decision left in the game, an interesting and fun companion vs a ton of gear and vendors and story characters. But that's the story of bg3, the player gets their cake and eats it too.

BG3 actually did representation as a necessary evil right. Outside of that one token non-character, every companion is fantasy white or fantasy exotic (Jaheira's from Tethyr) or fantasy alien. There's a gay quota, but it was 90% filled by gnomes, a race players are less likely to care about. Baldur's Gate is supposed to be a metropolis anyway, so some diversity is to be expected. It's diversity that doesn't take you out of the setting too much, unlike with DA4.

Stuff like a levvel 10 wizard casting Blight for an amount of damage greater than some of our healthbars combined. So it's certainly a cool mode and you should try it, just it'll be random which has drawbacks.I think it would be improved by a more curated experience. It might be more work, but if the mod had a series of handcrafted encounters rather than random, and it was on a logical power curve as you level and find gear, I think it would be better.
I don't think Patch 8 is going to save BG3 either...

In a turn-based game, you wouldn't be fighting chaff every couple of steps or have a bunch of low-level enemies in every encounter. Or at least, only in a bad turn-based game. Meanwhile, RTwP has to do this because otherwise encounters would be over too quickly and the game would become a walking simulator. It's such a shame that the Pathfinder games are RTwP. I still haven't played them because I refuse to play that sort of RPG nowadays, but I'm probably gonna make an exception, reluctantly.
